  1. That is one nice looking build! I would have put a nice light grey panel accent wash on it and screwed it up. Excellent finish and decal work. Very impressive and I'm sure it looks great on your desk. Congrats sir on a build well done. Randy
  2. Lord Vader it looks like you've mastered the "Small Side" of the force. I've actually played around with 144th but I can't see putting a full cockpit in anything that small. Great job and finish! Looks better than most people working in 72nd. I'm going back to my 48th and 32nd stuff now. Randy
  3. I've tried more than a few ways to get on my "other" favorite site to no luck. Is anyone else having this problem? Randy
  4. Thanks for the input, lots of great info. Now for the next round...which series of Sidewinder wa carried by the Mikes? I've got a few pics of them mounted on station 1 but there is no caption for type, and the shots are head on enough not being able to tell. Also it looks like the aircraft carried GBU's on a regular basis but I find no pics of a tracking pod on the aircraft. Early GBU's were lazed by FAC's on the ground so I'm asuming (break down the word) that there were no pods mounted. Thanks in advance. Randy
  5. I've got a rocket pod 2.75, two 500lb Snakeyes, and a Shrike. But could the A-4M in it's later comfigurations carry the HARM? As for the station loads bombs would inboard and the missle and pod would be outboard, but would it any more specific than that? missle station 1 or 5, pod 1 or 5? As for the colors I'm doing a low-vis grey scheme. The insides of the airbrakes, flaps and spoilers would be - light grey, light ghost grey, or dark ghost grey? And finally the drop tank would which of the three colors? Thanks for all the help on this project so far. Randy
  6. their just a bit soft for the level of detail being put into the build. I've modified the bombs that I have and in still does doesn't come to the task. I've seen the Verlinden 1/48 bombs in photos but not in hand, a bit risky to spend $20 on something that might not be any better. If you know of a source or have some for trade or sell I'd let to talk. Randy
  7. I ordered a sheet from Andy Renshaw and he came through with flying colors. I made the miscommunication on the specific aircraft, I need the low-vis with the cat on the tail that's about half the size of the height of the tail. The TwoBobs sheet has this aircraft. The site has it listed for $10 + $2 shipping and I'll add $5 just for the trouble. Let me know, got one on the bench the needs decals. Randy
  8. I've got a brand new tube of G-S Hypo and I've never used it before. Specifically got it for the fine line applicator. States it can be used on plastics but we all know clear parts are a different animal. Really like to know before I put it on my canopy and watch it fog or shatter. Randy
  9. Gonna start painting this one tomorrow and need to know what the leaks and streaks look like. I've only found one good partial pic for my effort. Do you hav any you can guide me to or post? Randy
  10. I've checked out the Real Space site and it looks like they have some nice items. The interior for the capsule is nice but where are the seats? It has the instrument panel and sides but now where to place figures. That brings up a topic, where can you buy some really nice astronauts in EVA suits and the such. As for the Saturn V decals, resin, and PE items I'm sure would bring out some realism, what's worth the money? What about the "NEW" Airfix Saturn V? Is it a repop of another or all new tooling that would make the old 1/144 kit usless. How about websites for walkaround of the actual
  11. Great finish on a small scale. The rigging would have drove me crazy. I bet that aircraft fits in the palm of your hand. Great job on a historically important subject. Randy
  12. Thanks for the quick answers. I'm just glad I picked one of the most expensive kits on the market to change my mind on. Randy
  13. Nope, I'm waiting on airbrush parts so I'm re-scribing shallow panel lines and such. Which pit did you put in yours? There are so many selections I'm on the fence to pick one. I would tend to lean toward realism as opposed to drop in fit. Then again I'm sure my choices narrowed picking the D bird. Randy
  14. I was working on the C Hornet with just about every aftermarket stick you could put on it and saw the new paint on the VMFA(AW)-225 black bird. You just gotta love big black tails! Are the kits basically the same with the exception of the nose and basic parts. My question would better be can I use the fuselage I'm put so much time in and just stick the parts for the D kit on the nose? Randy
  15. I know exactly what this is...an espresso machine...a snow cone maker...no it's a water heater. Comm'on guys isn't it obvious what it really is? Randy
  16. I'm going after the ultimate 1/32 Academy F/A-18C and need aftermarket items such as Aries Cockpit, Eduard PE sets, Aries well bays, fuselage screens, etc. If you have any of these types of items your willing to part with shoot me a mail and let's make a deal. Randy rdwoolsey1@yahoo.com
  17. Final assembly has started and it's coming together well. The dull coat is on I just don't have any pics yet. Randy
  18. Thanks for all of the fast replies and the ideas. I want to build something that you look at and go "Wow!" and then you look at it again and go "WWOOOOWWW!" I'm sure this build will put all of my skills and patience to the test. I did build the kit when it came out but it was a commission so I'm not sure how the gear did over time. Does anyone have any pics of the gear painted up and mounted on a build. And, I didn't really get a big "that's the one" on which cockpit, although I'm going to buy a Legends seat to check it out too. Alot of guys believe the squadron choice is very personal b
  19. Need a bit of insight to the best resin cockpit, PE sets, resin weapons available (with a really awesome loadout), ETC. ETC.. I've been looking at the pit choices and need the one that's got it all. Aires makes some really sharp stuff but what is the groups choice for most outstanding aftermarket parts. I plan on putting everything I can in this one. I want it to look so real that put with a drop in background you can't tell it's 20inches long. Let me know. Randy Need a choice for a unit too.
  20. Anthony has been asking for these for a while well here they are. Randy http://s484.photobucket.com/albums/rr201/r...mview=slideshow
  21. I've done some light weathering in the areas were aircrews regularly contact the aircraft for pre-flight, maint, or they just can't keep their hands off it (crew chiefs and such like to pet "their" planes). The upper surface across the fuselage is done with diluted black on about 20 psi. Behind the main wheel wells it is layers of black and flat earth, highly diluted, and high pressure so the center of the blast moves to the otuside with each pass. Randy
