  1. Also be sure to check your references as I've had sets where stuff was the wrong size, or just plain incorrect...

If you pick up the old 1/48 Testors/Hawk Lizzie kit, it has both the ladder and the tank in it. Probably much less expensive than a resin conversion and you still have an entire model left over <_< I did this with mine many moons ago when it first came out. Here is a photo of it almost finished (without the rear canopy on) - with the parts in question added. I don't have any that I could find of it finished off completely. Cheers, Doug
  3. Excellent work! Here are a few photos I took at the Deutsches Technikmuseum Berlin in January that might be useful to you: Cheers, Doug
  4. Looks great Paolo! Your painting is terrific! Cheers, Doug
  5. The painted cockpit PE parts are not supposed to be RLM 02. They are supposed to be medium gray 41, which all instrument panels, and other misc electrical panels were painted. IMHO, they do represent this color just fine. Your build is looking great Shahar, I'm looking forward to seeing more progress! I've been making very slow progress on one of these myself :) Cheers, Doug
  6. Agreed, I'll pass on the E4 because the canopy shape really bugs me, but I have two of the E1 kits (one about ready for paint) and even with it's build "challenges" I'll gladly pick up a few more of the E3 kits when they come out. Plenty of interesting E3 schemes to do!
  7. On the dozen + 109's I've got built up, I've always gone with 02 for 109E3's and earlier and 66 for E4's and later. Some photos of Galland in the cockpit (and getting out) of his E4 show it to be 66 as well. You can probably go with whatever one you like better, and no one will be able to tell you that it is wrong! Cheers, Doug
  8. Great update, I was beginning to worry that you'd tossed it in the bin Frank! Yet another good tip on the rad flaps, I'll note that for my next build! You've really nailed the spinner port, looks just like the photos of the real thing! Cheers, Doug
  9. I'm looking for some for some post-war silver dope Brisfit decals as well - so if you find any let us know Jennings! Now I did mention this to Rowan @ Pheon decals for his upcoming Brisfit sheet, so maybe he can add them in. Perhaps if you use some of your skills to help him out with those particular aircraft, that might ensure we get them, eh Jennings? Cheers, Doug
  10. Thanks for the news Frank! My build has been languishing a bit as well as I have been trying to get the nose together. I've ended up chopping my engine up and putting a bit under the front slots, and part of the rear in place that can been seen through the gun cooling slots, finally sticking the oil tank in place behind the prop shaft - I think that is going to work ok. You were not kidding about the cowl needing some spreading! Mine is off by a little more than 1/8" at the rear! Once I get the nose together I think it will move much more quickly :D I'll look forward to your update this
  11. Any progress Frank? I'm anxiously awaiting your next installment!! Cheers, Doug
  12. Looking good Frank! Good catch on that wingroot strip, I'll have to ad that to mine as well. That beast of yours should be ready for some paint pretty soon Cheers, Doug
  13. Looking good Frank! I wonder if your gear strut length issue is caused by the Aries wheels? Looking at the photos of Brett's build, and the ones over on the Eduard site, it looks like the kit wheels sit at about the proper height without modifying the strut. Are the kit wheels larger in diameter than the Aries ones? I also wonder how the diameter of the Eagle Editions wheels compares to the kit and Aries wheels. I'll look forward to your next update! Cheers, Doug
  14. Outstanding job on the update, always a treat!
