  1. All, I want to build my 1/48 Academy FGA.9 into a Swiss Mk.58 with AGM-65A's under the wings. My (far from incomplete, I admit) research at this point ofthe modifications this involves are: 1. Extended Aden gun blisters with chaff/flare buckets and the blast deflectors on the gun barrels 2. RHAW blisters on the nose and tail bullet 3. A couple antennas on the dorsal and ventral 4. Different instrument panel 5. A 3rd pylon under each wing inboard Other than the well know deficiencies that the kit needs fixed, am I missing anything? I cannot find a picture of the instrument panel post-Ma
  2. All, I have the old 1/32 AH-1G, and unfortunately the Fireball Starboard tail-rotor conversion kit is no longer available. So I am considering moving it to the right side on my own, aka scratchbuilding it. I also have the Monogram 1/48 AH-1F which, of course, has the right hand side tail rotor. Would it be accurate to just scale up the dimensions of the fairings from the smaller kit to my G-model? I ask because; A- I can't be sure the fairings were the same between the Vietnam era G-model and the -F/-S models. And B. if they ARE similar, I haven't seen enough clear photos to confirm that
  3. John, I'm not sure that any of those pics actually show the cap or just the edge of the circular hole that the rotor mast comes out of. I'm not an expert, and of course it's just a model...but when I place the cap over the mast on the model, it is very noticeable from the angles that those pics were taken from. Of course, not even close to clear evidence, but I think it still leaves the question... Dave
  4. Oops...I meant the REVELL 1/32 AH-1G. Sorry...
  5. The Monogram Revell kit has a "cap" that fits around the rotor shaft covering the "hole" in the fuselage where the rotor shaft comes out. However, I have looked in all the pics I have of Cobras from that period and it doesn't look like the cap is installed, but I have no clear photo. Can anyone tell me if they were used? Dave
  6. Who makes decals for instrument panels anymore? I know Waldron used to make the individual dials, but where can I find them now in various scales? Thanks, Dave
  7. So, I am hooked on this series and have finally decided to start the HH-60G that I've had on my shelf for the last 6 years. I have a lot of info from a troop of mine that used to work for me that is now a CSAR gunner, but 2 things that I have from watching the series that maybe you all can answer. It's hard to tell since the inside of the helo looks like an episode from "Extreme Hoarders" lol...but it appears that they are always flying without either of the aux fuel tanks in the cabin. My buddy told me that the HH-60s in A-Stan fly with only the Left tank or with none at all, but it looks l
  8. All, I've been out of the hobby for a while, so what are the best online modelling stores anymore? I used to buy just about everything from Greatmodels, Squadron, and Hannants. But I'm not sure who the current kings of the internet hobby are. Hope this doesn't break any rules asking...lol Dave
  9. Does anyone know if Italeri's upcoming release is a new kit or is it just a reboxing of the tired old ERTL/ESCI Mig-23? I'm getting tired of never knowing what to expect when you open that box of a new release only to find that it's a 15 year old example of some old poor quality kit. Sorry to sound negative, but I have been waiting for years for someone to build a nice MiG-23/27. Modern Russian jets are really not represented well in 1/48 Thanks, Dave Lueck
  10. All, I've read in a few places that the F-104S ASA-M had chaff/flare buckets fitted but I cannot see them in any of the pics that I have. Can anyone help me with this? I'm working on a F-104 for my Allied Force collection and want to be accurate. TIA Dave Lueck
  11. Are those pics in POWERMACCIE's post of a LITENING pod turned upsidedown? The intake is on the wrong side and in the second pic, there's some kind of antenna/fairing on the bottom of the pod? The pics aren't reversed cuz the stenciling on the jet is still readable.. Who's Hornet is that? Dave
  12. ...did I actually say that??? Seriously...I want to fix both Hasey's LANTIRN and LITENING II pods and add the vents that are in the rear of the pods. Can someone post pics of both of them so I can get the shapes/sizes correct, please? Thanks all Dave
  13. All, I am making a 1/48 resin master for a Mk-84 w/BSU-50 retarding tail and have a couple of questions: Does anyone have any detail pics of the top and rear cap? It looks like the fins on this sucker are alot thicker than "normal" fins. Is this true? TIA Dave
  14. All, I have an F-5E waiting for build into one of the original group of RF-5E's sold to the Saudi's in the late '70's. Now, I'm not talking about the Tigereyes that they fly now, but the F-5E's that were delivered with RF-5A noses pending the delivery of the Tigereyes. Does anyone have any references on just when these jets were modified into the new Tigereye configuration? I've talked with a British contractor who worked in Saudi in late '80's and he said that he never saw them. I have ref's that say that they carried ALQ-119's, but does anyone know the config (ie. centerline, wing stat
