How is one to know when a model has raised or engraved panel lines? for example, i got the Hasegawa 1/200 757, has raised panel lines. I then got the Hasegawa 1/200 MD-11, got it off ebay, i figured since i was looking for a kit like this for a while, id have to suffer with the raised panel lines, but when i got it and opened it up, it had nicely engraved ones!! So how does one know when they are or arent. Like with these Hasegawa 1/200 kits.? Any insight into this?

Well, no pics, my camera's down right now unfortunately. The needles are those ones you get in those packs,like from walmart. Those round packs with that dial thing on it.

im using a needle in a pin vise, but my lines never come out right. I mean when i go to clean them out they just dont clean out well. I use a tooth pick, but they look to thick also, and im not using much pressure at all and only doing a couple passes. What the hell am I doing wrong here! :) Im using sewing needles, is their maybe something else i should be using? HELP!!

how do you prevent the putty from being wipped away if you use some as filler for the wing root? I'm trying to fill in the small gap with my 500 Mr surfacer, but when i apply it, then wipe the excess off, it takes it all out? and subsequest applications do the same thing.

I need to, unfortunately, rescribe two lines around the nose of my aircraft, a MD-80. the lines are on the dreaded compound surface. I tried thin dymo tape, that didnt work, tried super thin strip of electrical tape but my pin vice still skidded off in all directions ;) :D , Now i need some real help!! any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys!!

can you darken the alclad aluminums with any other color? IE: MM enamels? black? Or how would you do it. Id like to darken to some shades of the aluminum color, substantially.

Hey Ray, thats one reason i decided to start over and use the decals. They look pretty darn good and realistic as you say, with the new ones out now.

how many of you use the decals for the cockpit windows vs. leaving them clear? I myself have attempted the clear - without completing the model - but have since puttied over them and am going to use the decals. To me its kind of a pain, at least for me starting off doing airliners now.

which one should i get guys off harbor freight? The kind per our usual modelers needs. Recommendations?
