  1. Go to Hobby Lobby or some place like it and pick up some gold foil adhesive. It's usually in the craft section with all the fake gold and silver leaf. I've used this stuff to apply zimmeret to a tank I built once. First and only tank as a matter of fact. The armor guys I know all freaked out, now they all use it too. Last time I was at the local model shop/hangout they had several bottles in stock so I guess it's catching on. It's very much like elmers thinned down but seems much more tacky. I used it on a Cutty Sark th do some of the copper, worked well. Sluggo
  2. Never tried it but you should be able to vary your base/primer colors and spray light coats of metalizer over them. I will be trying that method on my next bare metal job. Sluggo
  3. I'd guess that you Humbrol white is somehow contaminated or the surface you applied it to was. If it cracked prior to the overcoat, then those are most likely the cause. Was your undercoat completely dry? Sluggo
  4. Look particularly close at these parts, especially the large of the two part number 51-071. This is where I had trouble with my Iwata. Very similar in design. I think mine got dropped and whacked the end out a little. I tightened it up finger tight and then put a little extra on it with a pliers and its been fine ever since. I would also check to see that the fluid nozzle is tight as well. That is the part right behind the two with arrows. You did not stick the toothpick in the fluid nozzle and root around in there did you? Sluggo
  5. I've had that problem on my Iwata before. Turned out to be loose tip. Sluggo
  6. I stumbled on this technique while trying to hand painted w/stip on the canopy you see below. I painted yellow on the inner edge of the raised detail with a small brush but I was not very steady that particular day. In the process of removing the paint with Meguires #3 polish and a fine polishing cloth, I noticed that if I polished toward the raised detail that the paint would remain up against the raised line and had a nice uniform look about it. So I just laid paint on by brush on the inner edge of all the raised lines and polished with a fine tight woven polishing cloth (automoti
  7. My daughter found a 6 in 1 at walmart, which I appropriated most rapidly. Sluggo
  8. I was wondering......... I'm about to start painting my latest project. A 1/48 scale FGR 2. Dark Green and Dark Sea Gray upper camo job. I've always been a oil wash/postshade kinda guy. This particular project as well as the F4 E that is next in line require preshading. If you fabulous individuals don't mind too terribly, I'd like some opinions on what colors you would use to pershade this combo on the FGR. I'm sure most use black or a form of black but I'm not sure black will show through the dark green very well. I spray MM enamels reduced with laquer thinner exclusively. Top coa
