  1. Neo called out an oil based paint sharpie. I'm not sure oil based would bleed through as I have not tried it. I can tell you from experience that regular sharpie will bleed through any finish including catalyzed auto paints and clears.
  2. Went to the show In Austin, Texas on Saturday. Ran into a vendor, King's Hobbies who had a HKM 1:32 B-17 at the show but sold it before my arrival. He said he had another in stock at his store and it was only about 3 miles away. So I drove over there and seized it for 278.00. Also picked up a Revell 1:32 109G-6 at 20% off. Then when we got back to the show, my buddy (armor guy) won a Revell 1:32 109G-6 door prize and added it to my stack. About to crack the B-17 and see what's up.
  3. Congrats on the baby! Nice work there. Had to bring on a special smily for such an accomplishment. I've been working on that kit for about 12 years. Never seems to make it past the test fit stage..............
  4. Picked up a 1:48 Tamiya P-51D Tuskegee Airmen at lunch for 15 bux on clearance.
  5. You just woke a sleepy neuron in my pea brain. I believe you are right. You can, in a MySQL database do a search and replace SOL query and replace everything before the /forums or whatever the case may be. I think it would have to be done table by table though. I would experiment on a copy of the database as opposed to the live one. It would require shutting down they forum long enough to run the queries if the test proved successful. I would be will to volunteer some time to the staff if they feel I could be of help.
  6. The following response is the result of an assumption. I think what is being referred to is the fact that links within older posts have changed due to a server or IP adress change or both. Editing them in the database would be the same as hunting them down post by post and editing them. If it's like the database for my forum, each post is referred to as a number and is it's own entry in a table in the database and the information within the body of the post is in yet another table. Depending on the context of the post, the info called for may actually be handled by more than one table within
  7. It's been Tamiya tape and xacto for me in the past. Been out of the game a few years. Seeing some pretty nice alternatives available these days.
  8. For me it's pretty much anything that keeps me from doing the exterior painting. It really slows me down sometimes. What do you do to power through the steps you don't care for?
  9. Anyone have one or been exposed to a budget minded one they could recommend?

  11. As a Admin/owner of two forums I understand wanting to make that option available to non-members. Unfortunately, there are lots of internet tough guys who can't control their mouths unless they expose their identity. Alf's solution is one I would pursue if I was facing this dilemma on one of my boards. If a contributor wants non-member input they can always include their email in the body of their contribution. They should be made aware of the consequences if they choose to do so.
  12. They also have vinyls that are translucent and can be backlit. Too bad store fronts are a dying breed. There are plenty of applications. Just wonder if there is any audience.

  15. I have two vinyl cutters in my model room which I have been using to cut stripes for cars and been doing some of those cutsie quotes that the ladies like to put on their walls. Why it took until today to strike me that I should be doing nose art with them I don't know. I whipped out one piece pretty quickly and I have another that will be eight layers that I'm working on. They make a vinyl that is removable from latex walls and it's reasonably cheap. I'm wondering what kind of interest others might have in having stuff made for them. I guess I can cut paint masks and such also. Anyway, Here

  18. Thanks for the link. It will come in handy. Ford Mustangs Started with a 71 Mach1 for myself. The vendor I was buying parts from had me do the body and paint on his 69 Boss 302, I did a 67 fastback for a friend, a 70 fastback for a guy I work with and my 69 Mach1. My 69 is pretty much done, but there are a few minor things I'm still tinkering with. Some anal model detailing may be evident in the pics below.
  19. I just cracked open my first kit since the 2005 nationals in Atlanta. Been working on some 1:1 scale stuff. My first victim will be a 1:48 Tamiya DO335. Spent a couple hours on spruebrothers. Looks like I have some catching up to do.
  20. I've been out of the game for quite a while but IIRC, you should be fine after that length of time.
  21. Thanks for the lead. Wish i'd have known about them when I was in Atlanta Sluggo
  22. Anyone have an idea where to come up with some? I have a set from hi-flight that I was saving for my EJ I'm going to build into an F model. I will use them on my RF-4E but would like to replace them. Thanks, Sluggo
