To be honest, the ResKit set was a disappointment. It's way simpler than the real thing and lacks even some of the more obvious morphology that Academy managed to mould. There are quite striking 3D print lines. The worst aspect is it's not engineered to fit the kit at all - the rotor mast is a lovely casting that fits to absolutely nothing. They replicated the actuating arms with very poor PE - I replaced the more obvious ones with brass tube.

This is the third build of the 48th CH-53E in recent weeks that have mentioned poor fit / overall disappointment with the ResKit parts. Kelly Quirk's build is another, and the third is from a modeler whose name I can't recall at the moment. Both builds were posted on Facebook. Other than their MER's and TER's, I dumped all of the ResKit stuff I had.

You know, I gave this guy multiple chances several years ago. I waited MONTHS for a couple of orders and talked to BOLE on the phone several times about this very same issue. So here I am today nearly 4 weeks out from an order of two (2) items and it is the same freaking thing. I was hoping that he had changed, but he apparently hasn't learned. I see he has now relocated to Georgia and I called him once today and got voicemail. I decided to just end the wait and sent an email to cancel my order. I wish I would have used my Visa card instead of PayPal, but I'll get my money back one way or another.
There should be more awareness of this guy and if there is anyone down in Georgia who could pay this guy a visit to get the message across it would be appreciated.
Never Again.
Where in Georgia? To be clear, I will not, and have no desire to visit him. I will however keep an eye out at the local shows and spread the word.

The following sheets are in the final stages of completion and will be sent to Microscale the first week of April. At their current pace, we expect to have these back sometime in June and ready for the Nationals in Madison.

More 1/48 F/A-18 Hornet stuff on the way.
Single piece trailing edge flaps with actuators. Sets for Hasegawa and Kinetic will be released. They will also be released in full up, take off, and full down (shown) positions. New ailerons with actuators are also being designed.
No more filling and sanding the two piece kit parts and dealing with the fiddly actuators. Still a couple more test prints to do before they go into full production. Hope to have these released by the end of the month.

Colors are 36495, 36375 and 35237
Sorry, can't share the pattern documents I have.

If true, a big black eye for the Marine Corps. I still think an A2A Harrier is unique enough to be entered into my Que.
Headed off to your website to figure what I need to get (understanding the adapters are a few weeks away)

On a general note, and looking back and the USAF shootdowns during the Balkan conflicts in the 90's and the more recent shoot down by VFA-87 in 2017 I would suppose that anyone shooting down 7 drowns would be made into a celebrity fairly soon.
My fiancee and I just returned from Cherry Point, spending several hours with VMA-231. Had a very brief conversation with the CO, and discussed quite a bit with the airframes SNCOIC (who was our escort), and several other Marines in the squadron.
I am 99.9% convinced the reports are bogus.

Wow, really? So I was “stupid” for suggesting it, but if they don’t, “no big deal”. Wow.
In case you’re too dense to have picked up on it, Mr. Roof, you’re the person I was referencing above.
First of all, I never called you stupid. My exact comment to you was as follows :
"Oh for Christ's sake, Japan never flew the F-14, F-117, F4D, F4U, F-16 or F-4B either. Yet, that didn't stop Tamiya from releasing kit of those subjects. Japan doesn't fly the F-35C is the absolute dumbest reason modelers use when they claim Tamiya won't do that version."
I said the argument Tamiya wouldn't release a C because Japan didn't fly it was dumb. Note I was referring to that particular argument, and attributed it to several others by specifically using the terms 'modelers' and 'they'. At no point did I direct my comments to you personally.
Also, the first person to mention the word stupid in this entire F-35 discussion was you, with this little nugget :
Calm down man. Jeez… it’s a toy plastic airplane, not a cure for cancer. How stupid are you going to feel when they don’t do it?
Edited February 6 by Illu
I used the word stupid in response by simply stating I'd feel as stupid as you'll feel if they do release a C.
After that, you proceeded to send me a couple nasty private messages calling me a bunch of names. Kinda wish I hadn't deleted them now.
Also, I was well aware you were talking about me. However, I intentionally ignored you in my previous response. I'm only responding now as you're attempting to paint me as the villain, when it is you that's being the antagonist. I attacked an argument, you attacked me personally. Like I said above, really wish I didn't delete your unsolicited, and rude private messages.
To close, you are completely irrelevant and mean absolutely nothing to me. I do not care about you, or your opinion, and this will most certainly be my last response you. Now go away and find someone else to annoy.

Disagree on the similarities point.
Same engine, fuselage, tail, cockpit, etc.
They'd have to design new wings, landing gear and add a tail hook.
CAD is wonderful
No, completely different fuselage, vertical and horizontal tails. Other than the A and B sharing the same vertical and horizontal tails, the airframes of all three are different.

I’ve heard through a few people that Tamiya won’t be doing a “C”
Well, unless those people work for Tamiya, they really don't know. They are probably the same 'people' that swore to the almighty the ICM 1/35 CH-54 wasn't going to come to fruition. Remember, some 'people' also claimed the new Tamiya F-35B couldn't be true, because they had already released a re-boxing of the Italeri kit.
If they don't release an F-35C, no big deal. If they do though, I'm going to have a good laugh at those that claim they won't because "Japan doesn't fly the C".

Instrument panel and exterior details would be the same as that found on an F/A-18A.
GPS Dome, swept back upper and lower UHF/VHF antenna, AN/APX-111 antenna on nose, SJU-5/6
Both aircraft, 163167 and 163162, got upgraded to F/A-18A++ and got the SJU-17, but several years after their OIF deployment (which the markings on the decal sheet depict)

The Marine Corps uses both left and right handed pods. We have the left handed pods available in the stowed position. I'll have a deployed (camera's out) version out next week. I'll also be releasing right handed pods.

The original comment was about an A-6A, with an implication it was a carrier-based bird, in Viet Nam. Not an A-6E in the Gulf, ok not THAT gulf. And the context of the comment was the model bomb load was over weathered for what it represented. You can offer any number of shots, but they may not be in the context of the comment...
I conceded you may have only been referring to shipboard operations in my original response. However, I mentioned it appeared you were speaking about ordnance in general, to which I responded it was not the case. I posted the photos of the Mk-82 and BLU-111 simply to show that not all bombs are pristine and modelers at times simply use artistic license and aren't too concerned about 100% accuracy. If it looks cool to them, that's all that should matter.

Good point, but I doubt they get covered with oil streaks and grime....
They simply fade, or get coated in that miserable dust they called sand....
Depends on how one interprets what they see in a photo.....

I was watching a YouTube on building the A-6A and the modeler went into great detail on how to "weather bombs". OK, these things are made and shipped to a port. Transferred to a UNREP ship and then moved over to the Bird Farm. The most time they spent in the weather was after they were up-loaded on the birds on the way to being dropped. they never get a chance to get weathered!
Bryan
Well, you're obviously not an Ordnanceman that's spent time around ordnance off ship. During ODS, all of our bombs (any many of our missiles), were stored outside. Most of the ordnance dropped by both Navy and Marine Corps aircraft during OIF and OEF was also stored outside. Guess what happened to it? It got weathered.
While you may in be referring to shipboard operations, it sounds more like a matter of fact statement for all ordnance, which is absolutely not the case.

@KursadA, I don't know if you have another AV-8B sheet planned, but the Marine Corps has a new ace.
While he isn't an Ace, I've got Capt Ehrhart's Harrier drawn.

231 is flying the gun pack. It's been strakes and centerline LITENING for almost the entire Det so far.

Though the USMC has not made any comments yet, I doubt they will as they do not have the bandwidth to go after every false USMC claim. Besides, it may have some detrimental effect on Houti morale in Yemen.
Yeah, I've been in direct contact with three Marines aboard the Bataan (all with 231), and they're all saying the kills didn't happen.

I approached Reskit earlier this year about doing an MH conversion, which would include the larger fuel tanks, and they basically said there’s not a big enough market for one.
Don't worry, the moment one of the smaller one man operations here in the US announces one, ResKit will "magically" have one in development........

Yep...they are a lot longer. I found that out when I was checking the conversion number on the 1/72 scale. Since you attempted them, do you have the dimensions for them that you can share?
I was actually able to get successful prints and have a couple dozen sets in stock. However, I do have drawings with measurements. I'll post them tomorrow as I'm out of the office for the night.
