  1. Perhaps have Monty looking over a map on the hood of one of these: Or perhaps one of these as a transport Or Patton standing up in the front of one of these, hiding behind the figures
  2. in addition to the a and b mirror schemes, there were c and d mirror schemes, same as a and b schemes but with the colors reversed. I dont know if these were used for long, if ever, i just remember reading about them in some book i have.
  3. I have that box set as well and both models look fantastic. The sink mark problem with the Vindicators was with the first run only because the company shooting the molds didnt wait long enough to pull the pieces from the molds since they were trying to meet a deadline to get the new kits out. Those problems have been sorted and the Vin kit in the PH double box is fantastic. I agree that the Dauntless kit is a great kit too, especially since it is a -1. I say get it for the 34.29, thats a good price.
  4. I remember that there were many issues brought up about the Trumpy cowls back when we first saw the test shots. I don't know what issues there still are with the production cowls because there is no way I am throwing down that kind of change when the Revellogram kit has great exterior shape and I can spruce up the interior on my own. Anywho, the point is, if the Trumpy cowls still have the issues they did originally, than these replacement cowls should be very welcome to anyone who has that kit.
  5. Which markings are you using? The one with the red has a real nice pop to it.
  6. I would agree that it is probably not white. If you check the K values of the spinner and the gear doors where they are at the same angle to the sun, the values are different. It is tough to get a comparable angle sample fromt he yellow leading edges, but they values appear to be close at the best angle spots. The values are also close with the Sky fuse band at the same angles, so, best guess based on that photo is that the tip is yellow or Sky, but that doesnt rule out other colors.
  7. It is raffle time! This was a very successful GB with completed entries from 26 different people. With only 3 raffle prizes this time, the odds were a bit steep to win. However, win some of you did. The three winning names were drawn at random from a hat. Each person who completed a build had their name entered, whether you completed one or 20, your name went in once. So, without further delay, the raffle results: - 1/72 Almark decal sheet #C9 "Victory in Sight" for Spitfire Mk VIII and IX with markings for 5 planes and data for 2. Donated by Al Davis (alvin5182) Winner: Maxidad - 1/3
  8. Last call to double check the raffle thread pinned up top to make sure we have everything, or if you would like to donate something. The raffle drawing will take place tomorrow on wednesday at the latest, so make sure you check soon. Again, thanks to all.

  10. some nice markings and options there. I really dig the choice of bombs, rockets, drop tanks, and my favorite, a nice big belly cannon
  11. Doors reference aside, today is the final day for this GB. That means that all builds must be finished by 11:59 p.m. your local time (honor system here) in order to be eligible for the raffle drawing. You dont have to post your pics by then if you cant, but get them up tomorrow with a note letting us know that you were done in time. Also, if you have donated something for the raffle, or want to, please check the pinned raffle thread to make sure we have it. We will probably do the drawing towards the end of the week, but maybe the beginning of next week due to the holiday weekend, for me a

  14. It is true that the RoG B-26 says B/G on the box. I have 2 in the stash that both say it
  15. Of course I cant find the pics I was thinking of, but all the period photos I have seen seem to show the cannon being left in their original camo color and not repainted to match the D-Day stripes

  17. No, you are fine to join, I was just hoping to see how you got to the point you are now. welcome aboard.
  18. when did you start this build, and do you have any progress pics besides the current state?
  19. I used the air brush cranked up method recently on my spit for the spitfire GB. For paint I just used some slightly thinned Tamiya Smoke. right color and sheen for oil and fuel drips and slicks
  20. please tell me that you didn't use a sharpie
  21. I actually think the method you suggested, while alot of work, will give you the desired result. One thing too, if you hard mask the markings and insignia, re paint your preshading around the masking since your overspray will cover the preshading in that area.
  22. Its not a problem, just makes it easier to keep things straight, especially for us mods who need to make sure we get everything into the finished gallery. I think the story is a fantastic addition too.
