  2. I think it would depend on how the Corsairs were ferried out, whether they were on carriers or if they were boxed up and shipped on cargo ships. Anyone have insight on that?
  3. I actually think they may have three levels of kit now. They used to just have the profipak and weekend kits, but now I think they have the standard kits, which have the kit plus some PE, masks, and several markings, the weekend which has just plastic and one marking, and the profipak that has the full compliment of PE and markings.
  4. there are alot of lights on the B-24 that aren't indicated on the model. I had to add a bunch to mine as well, though mine was the ol `/48 revellogram kit.
  5. I know Eduard never had a P-40 that they did on their own, and I don't recall them ever releasing someone elses mold.
  6. Yes, same kind of lights, same purpose, front to back red, green, amber, if memory serves

  8. perhaps something along these lines?

  10. Hi again everyone. Well, it has been quite a while since my last post on this. During that time I was out of the country for a while, then the whole family was hit with a nasty stomach virus, but now things seem to be back on track and I have been able to finish up. After I finished the decals and wash, I flat coated the plane and added all the final bits like painting the oleos, adding the ventral light, wing tip lights, and tail light, painted the exhausts. I then used some thinned Tamiya Smoke and my air brush cranked up to high psi to simulate some oil spills and leaks blown back along
  11. there is a nice shot of the green color on the cockpit side rails on the plane closest to the camera and again it looks most like tinted zinc chromate. if you want to replicate this color, it is really easy. get some testors small square bottle zinc chromate (a very good match for raw zinc chromate) and just add black a bit at a time till you match the color, just like they did it back then. as a side note, i wonder what everyone is looking at towards the rear of the ship on that second pic?
  12. I am curious about this statement. Bronze Green was certainly in use at that time, and possibly even DDG. I am not saying that Douglas used either color or that this color even looks like either of those (see my previous post) but this time period is certainly when Bronze Green and possibly DDG were used.
  13. interesting color. it looks too light and flat for bronze green, no bluish tint like dull dark green. if i had to guess, i would say it looks like a custom mix of tinted zinc chromate. (commonly called green zinc chromate) usually zinc chromate that is tinted with black is a lighter green, but if you add more black, or other pigments to it, a darker shade of green like the one in that pic are possible. based on the hue of the green, i would guess that it is zinc chromate that was heavily tinted with lamp black or possibly some other dark pigment. Well, there's my $.02.

  17. I am just finishing a Hase Mk V for the Spit GB. I didn't find issue with the wing to fuse join, but as is typical with most Hase kits I have found, the area where the wing leading edge and the fuse and the underside all meet up never seems to line up quite right. The under nose panel needed a bit of filler and the join between the wing bottom and the rear bottom fuse needed a little filler too, but all in all, not too bad for fit.
  18. It is an oddity of AM avenger instructions. Their -1C instructions make no mention of Bronze Green, yet their -3 instructions do call out for Bronze Green, even though the -1C was more likely to be found with Bronze Green than the -3, especially any TBM-3s which would almost certainly have an all interior green crew area since they were from GM instead of Grumman.
  19. looking really good! for future reference if you build one of these again, the forward crew area would have been bronze green on the earlier models like this one. great looking engine there too
  20. I see, nevermind then. But for those of you still a little confused over interior colors, there is a great pinned thread in the props forum on this topic. Interior Green is zinc chromate tinted with lamp black in a certain ratio specified by the military. It replaced Dull Dark Green which was a darker flat color with a significant bluish tint to it, Model Master Euro Dark Green I is a good match for this color. DDG replaced Bronze Green which was a very dark oily black green color with a semi gloss finish that did not work well in cockpits due to the glare from the semi gloss nature of the
  21. I have only found these pics, not a great help but better than nothing. Its hard to see the tail on the second pic but it looks like, at least before the plane was modified with a solid nose and single tail, that the original turrets were still there, just with the guns removed. It looks like both the dorsal and tail turrets are in place with no guns. As for decals, I would do it but they are white or light color, and I dont have an alps printer so I can't help there. HTH
  22. I'm pretty sure your cockpits should be in Bronze Green instead of Interior Green.
  23. Now THAT would be an interesting camo scheme!
