  1. I went off my usual beaten path of aircraft and went mostly Sci-Fi this year. Enjoy! Revell Millennium Falcon Revell T-65 X-Wing "Red 5" with Shapeways 3D printed Death Star tiles. Revell T-70 X-wing "Ralph Mcquarrie Throwback Scheme" MPC AT-AT Battle of Hoth Diorama "Good Shot Jansen"
  2. You aren't kidding! You almost better off buying your favorite Bandai kits and casting those tiles. At least for the price you get an excellent model and a death star tile.
  3. I picked this up on the clearance rack at Hobby Lobby along with the Darth Vader TIE fighter. Of course, this is a snap-tite kit, so I wasn't sure what I was getting when I got home. I remember reading reviews on this kit way back when and for the most part, I recall them mostly positive. The kit comes pre-painted in Luke's Red 5 markings. Overall, it looked really good. Good enough for me to decide to leave it as-is. I decided to go with a burnt-umber acrylic wash over all the pieces. Once dry, I wiped off the excess and sprayed the pieces with dullcoat. This was going
  4. Looks good. Depending what Black you doing the upper door is either the small port hole or the larger square. Pictures posted under "Fair Use" for educational purposes. This aircraft Production Number 58. I put this one through flight test. Note the "Have Glass" paint job. Note the small window. This is a Block A aircraft. This is a Block B aircraft. See the larger window.
  5. SNOW! Woodland Scenic Snow and Woodland Scenic glue with a little water. I mixed to the consistency of soft serve ice cream and then spread with a cake decorating spatula. During application, I used some artistic license to replicate snow. I pressed the walker into the base so I could locate it in the desired position after it dried.. I made a foot template from sheet styrene to make the tracks.
  6. I had to re-position the legs. ILM mimicked an elephant walk for the AT-AT. My original placement didn't look right.
  7. Moving on to the snowspeeder. I used 22 gauge wire, anything smaller wouldn't support the weight. After paint, I applied the same black wash. In place...
  8. I discovered this part missing. Searched and searched to no avail. There's no telling how long this part has been gone. Well, this allows me to do a little scratch building. The kit part is on top and mine is one the bottom...it didn't turn out too bad. The cannons are on!! The feet are on and the struts from the legs to the feet are now attached.
  9. The main body, neck and head was washed with a black acrylic wash. Next, the undercarriage and the legs.
  10. I dug out my long abandoned MPC AT-AT build. I started on this back in 2006. It got packed away and has finally seen the light of day again. This kit, along with a few other original release Star Wars MPC kits was given to me by a member at my old model club. With all the recent hype of the new Star Wars movies, I've been inspired to switch gears from my usual aviation builds and do some sci-fi models. I started applying paint and washes to each part of the kit separately. I chose Tamiya surface Primer as the base color of the AT-AT.
  11. I decided that I didn't what this to look like an X-Wing from the movie. I tossed around the idea to do it in a red paint scheme, but I figured there would be a lot of people doing that or maybe green. So, those options were out. I was looking around the internet for inspiration and then this jumped out at me. © LucasFilm - Posted Under Fair Use Although, not exactly the same X-Wing, the TFA X-Wing clearly draws a lot of inspiration from this original concept. So, I decided to adapt McQuarrie's Paint scheme to the T-70. The color was overall Model Master Light Gray. The gray stripe down
  12. Last Christmas I received both the X-Wing and the First Order Tie Fighter kits. I'm kind of on a Star Wars building kick at the moment and decided to pull this one out of the stash and get started on it. It is Interesting to note that while this kit can be displayed in flight, there is no pilot figure. With this said, I went to the spares box and found a helicopter pilot that would fit the bill nicely for a Resistance Pilot. These kits are prepainted, albeit not very well. I decided to leave the cockpit as-is and do a little dry brushing to enhance some details. I glued the pilot in
  13. I knew that going in, but hacking almost 1/4 inch off the side walls was going to be a lot of work. So i decided to leave it. I have the DiAgostini Millennium Falcon being procured, that will be my awesome Falcon build.
  14. Finally finishing this up after A LOT of procrastinating...I still have some minor work to do.
  15. E-8C doesn't have natural metal leading edges. AWACS does, JSTARS...no.
  16. Been a long while since a real update. Ghost Rider is all together. Props are painted. Lots of filling, sanding, primer in that order, over and over and over. The chaff/flare fairings, the EW sensors just aft of the nose, the TACAN antennas as well as the VOR antenna on the tail are on! Still a lot of work to do... A LOT...
  17. Excellent build. I have a 1/32 scale warbird build going that I plan to do in these markings. FYI, "North American" not Republic. Republic built the F-84.
  18. A little more progress...still fighting me a little bit. I discovered Mr. Surfacer 500! Cockpit painted, Pilot Painted, aft area of cockpit painted. Mr. Surfacer here and there. I'm pretty proud of that pilot!
