  1. Hey all, here are some pics of some Cobra's I am working on. 1/48 Monogram AH-1S Modernized 1/48 Italeri AH-1T "Tango" Model 1/48 Italeri AH-1Z "Zulu" Production model Hope you like.
  2. Here are pics of the Aft Crew Station and the cockpit
  3. Here are some pics of my 1/48 Italeri AH-1Z Viper kit in progress to becoming an AH-1Z Production Super Cobra. I have to complete the cheek on the other side of the fuselage, fabricate the "dog house", fabricate the turned exhaust, move the horizontals aft 65", and a lot more....... Hope you like it.
  4. Here are some pics of my 1/48 Italeri AH-1Z Viper kit in progress to becoming an AH-1Z Production Super Cobra. Hope you like it.
  5. Both the Z and the Y will have the turned exhaust. The reason for this is the the tail boo was getting TOO hot and making the metal brittle. So when you say they keep getting uglier and uglier, they are making them safer and safer. I would never sacrifice safety for looks!
  6. Z1 is a hybrid and not a true "Z" model like Z2 and subsequent. It more a "Whisky Z" Than any thing else. It doesn't have the full avionics that the later birds have.
  7. Here is an in-progress pic of my AH-1Z. It actually depicts AH-1Z prototype No.1 very early in its development. I know is not 100% accurate, but I have another Italeri "Z" coming and it will be a full up AH-1Z with Glass cockpit, turned exhaust, full cheeks that extend under the pylon, chaff/flare dispensers, "dog house", square cross tubes, extended and moved aft horizontals. It should be fun.

  9. That's pretty much what it will look like in it's production form.
  10. Here is a pic of AH-1Z No. 2 when it flew in.
  11. They took some pictures when it flew into Amarillo, I will see about getting thoses from the "resident photograper" here at the plant and try to get them posted.
  12. AH-1Z, No. 2 flew into the Bell Helicopter facility in Amarillo, Texas, Which were building the first 2 production 'Z"s was I type and the turned Exhaust looks like the above pic.
  13. It's the old Douglas Logo.
  14. THANKS!!!! They are on order!
  15. It's starting to look like an F-16C now. I need to do some touch up on the top and add the 36118 to the vertical and paint the bottom of the the aircraft 36375. Now the problem, I need some really cool marking to do this bird in. Seeing that I am in Texas, I was think Texas ANG marking, but I can't seem to find any. Any suggestions....
  16. Here is an update. I finished the base. I really don't care about the overall accuracy of the kit, it is going to sit on a desk at work. To those people, it will be the best F-16 they've ever seen.
  17. The Academy kit is so close to the Hasagawa that you can actually interchange the parts and the fit perfectly.
  18. I don't know, I haven't decided yet. My other F-16 is going to be in the 1985 Gunsmoke markings from Kunsan AB. This one, I don't know. If I could find some decals that says "F-16C No. 1" I'd like to do those. We'll see.
  19. We got a new boss out at the plant. He is a Lockheed transplant from Ft. Worth, Tx and in his new office, he has factory F-16 models all over the place and it inspired me to do one. I think I can do this one that will look a lot better than one of his. My will have a pilot. :-)
  20. That looks really really good. I used the same technique on the paint scheme. Here is my F-15. I used the Tamya F-15A kit as a basis. I stuffed in the Hasagawa cockpit, used the Hasagawa landing gear. Monogram missiles and Academy nozzles. It's not quite done, but I think it turned out really good.
  21. I just haven't gotten it yet from the guy in my model club who has a sheet of them. :-)
  22. This is one of my display shelves in my house. Hope you all like it. Steve E
  23. Are you ready for this.............it's just Testors Flat whit out of the rattle can. No special prep, not hot water. Shake and shoot! After it dried, I sanded the whole model lightly with very fine grit sand paper. Cleaned it with water, dried and applied the decals. Most of those are from the spares box, except the "Bell Aircraft "and "Bell X-5". Those are from the kit and shattered when I put them in the water. I carefully pieced them back together on the plane. Thanks for the compliment! Now it is time to finish up my F-18A Protoytpe #6 Spin Recovery bird in 1/48! That paint job isn't
