More progress on this conversion. Primed now.

He made his last update to the B-26A Conversion 7 days ago. He did say he would do other business things for a couple of days before he'd get back to this build. ???? Still wonder about that tail gun position? With his new plug to aid in installation of new transparency, putting in gunner seat and gun will be DIFFICULT, to say the least.
Still waiting.

Is the 1/48 Kitty Hawk UH-1H kit accurate shapewise?
Yes. There is an issue with the Control Tubes on the Rotor Head that needs fixed; but, ....... it the best in any scale.

Just now finished a quick session to make mask for this old Hasegawa kit, and, failed miserably!!
Does anyone make outside canopy mask for this kit???
How about the new Roden O-1 48th kit??? Plan to use Clear 3M packaging Tape for the flat sides and top instead of kit plastic and REALLY do need mask to make it look right.
I can't find ANY accessories for this Subject????

1/72 A-26K (New Tool)
1/48 AH-1G
1/48 OH-6A
1/32 AH-1G
1/48 UH-1C/M Gunship (New Tool)
I agree!! For the UH-1C/M to be used so much, the very best we have, in 48th, is that old Monogram/Revell kit that needs extensive resin mod to be just fairly accurate!! KittyHawk!!

We're talking about the seller 109ace yes? He's got a Bronco correction/update set that I'm interested in but I don't know how it holds up. Anybody know anything about it?
Have you seen the built up conversion? It might be wise to see one, first.

To this guy’s credit, as he builds his conversion, he’s releasing improved and missing items to make an early B-26.
His prop conversion is still problematic. Best just lift one from P-61??
Still want to see that tail gun when finished.

No, I never flew on these helicopters. I have a PPL license but I only flew on planes. At fifteen I made my first solo on a Piper Cub J3, then I flew on Jodel 112, Jodel 120, and Morane Rallye. Flying on helicopters has always been a dream for me but it was far too expensive.
I flew twice as a squirrel passenger, an hour on an MD500E and, my best flight, half an hour over New York on the front left seat on a Long Ranger
So I flew RC helicopters. My first was the Schluter DS22 inspired by an Enstromm helicopterSorry for my poor englishGreetings from France and by the way, Happy New Year !!!!!!!Your English is a lot better than my French.
The Army taught me to fly helicopters. Can you do the same in France??

Bo,
I'd be interested in seeing the person's in-progress build. Can you share the web site of where this is taking place?
Eric
It's in Plastic Pix of HS. Hope this isn't against the rules here????

Gotta give this Conversion Creator some credit for effort!! That Tail Gun position, as per his kit, was gonna be a BEAR to make look decent!! He revised it so we'll have to wait for final verdict!! One verdict is already in!! DON'T BUY ANY MAJOR conversion until you see it BUILT!!!

Aww, a helicopter man!! Did ya fly these?? The -23 is interesting. Has it ever been kitted?? I have about 3 hrs in one and don’t want any more!! LOL Wasn’t rigged properly.

I know this thread didn't mention Mfgs. but, after Tamiya's recent releases, I couldn't help but add Tamiya as the Mfgr of choice! Since I was 'wishing' figured I might as go ALL the WAY!! LOL!! They have set the new standard!

ALL 48th scale
1, Tamiya UH-1D/H. Kittyhawk's is ok; but NOT Tamiya quality!!
2. Tamiya AH-1G Where is this subject?????
3. Tamiya P-40B/C. Again, Airfix is just ok with lots of issues; but, not Tamiya quality!!
4. Tamiya UH-1C/M!! A poor kit of Mnogram/Revell's is the best!! And it requires resin Conversion to be just ok!! Geesh!!
5. Tamiya OH-6A Loach!! Like the Cobra above, ??????
Tamiya has set themselves WAY above the current Industry Standards!! About time for others to catch up!!

You would think conversion would provide benefit of experienced build?? Ooops, designer never built own creation!! Funny, didn’t use left forward fuselage?? Gotta test fly any new aircraft!
The tail gun and transparency will be interesting!

There are two different short wing conversions, lone star, and 109ace that sells on eBay. They aren't the same. Mike at Lonestar does update his conversions/kits sometimes between moldings, I know the engine cowlings have changed between releases cause he sent me an updated pair. Why not email Mike and ask? He also posts here sometimes.
Yeah, I am aware of both Conversion sets. One would think that the Lone Star Website would have the very latest version which doesn't look like this one posted above??? Oh well.

I haven’t done a head-to- head comparison; but, I’d like to have seen some instructions or parts list?? For subject experts, it may not be necessary!! If I was an expert, I’d made my own conversion.
Oh well, just look for completed model with GOOD photos BEFORE ya buy!
A learning experience for all!! I hope??

A modeler has designed a Monogram B-26A (Short Wing) Conversion and is selling them on Ebay. Product is NOT all that bad; BUT, needs a lot of work to be usable. He currently is building it on another Site and it seems that he's running into alot of work!! He didn't use the left forward nose section at all???? So why have it???? (Master was cracked; but, was cast and sold anyway?)
Can it be built??? Sure. I've learned something. Don't buy something like this UNTIL the Caster builds it and has several GOOD photos of the finished Conversion!!
It's gonna be interest to follow his build!! I wanna see that Tail Gun position when finished!! Props??? Canopy, that NOT part of conversion but should be.

I’m planning to build several US Army subjects that were stationed at Phu Hiep Army Airfield about the same timeframe as I was there, 1969-70. In work now is the 48th Hasegawa O-1 Bird Dog. Next will be Roden’s Mohawk.

There are very good kits in 1/72 from Special Hobby and there was talk they would scale them up to 1/48 like they do with some of their stuff. You should talk to them and push them on......
I've seen their 72tooth one and it IS nice!! Hope they DO scale up that subject AND the Northrup N3PB as well!!

Any chance you or Kittyhawk will revise that scissors link that curves around mast so Control Tube aligns with mast??? May be just the size that makes accuracy difficult or near impossible???
The one draw-back of what's really a nice kit.

Yeah, agreed. Probably the prettiest helo ever built (especially compared to the later F / S versions) and literally hundreds of cool decal options. Really surprised that no one got around to releasing a new-tool 35th scale kit of the Cobra.
AND, 48th scale!!

A Model site has a Section called. AH-1 Cobra and notability missing is the first Cobra, the AH-1G that flew in Vietnam!!
Geesh!! When will they ever learn!! Many decals just waiting for a kit to put them on!!
Kittyhawk????
