  1. I have for grabs a copy of Wings Of Fame, #1, with extensive articles on the YF-17, P-51 Mustang and Naval Phantoms in Vietnam. It is the softcover edition, with the back seperating and seperations at a few sections. Therefore I am offering it for FREE, just pay the postage (Media Mail is the cheapest). trust me it will arrive in as good condition as possible. Contact me here (send a PM) if interested. Feel free to ask any questions. Rich J (Felinoid)
  2. How'd the day end? UConn won, the Giants lost (my bil almost cried!). The pizza and wings got paid for with a gift card from my wife. This is Connecticut, no alchohol sales on Sunday. No beer, too bad. And our limited supply of liquor is carefully hidden. They finally left around 6.00, not helping us to clean up. I did manage to get in an hour or so of modelling. I want to move and not tell anyone.
  3. I already have a 25 pound cat with paws as big as my palm! :(
  4. Instead of a nice, quiet, peaceful day free to do some modeling, at 2.00 my wife's sister's family shows up unannounced and uninvited because they want to watch the UConn basketball game and their basic cable doesn't carry it. So they're here, helping themselves to our cabinets and refrigerator, my brother-in-law is sneezing non-stop because he's allergic to our cats (hey, they were here first), I have retreated into the upstairs room with our computer and books.......now they're ordering pizza and wings (guess who's expected to pay?) and my bil is complaining because I don't have beer. :)
  5. I thought they were kinda reptillian myself as well. Cool build!
  6. Just to - In the original series episode That Which Survives, Lee Meriwether sabotaged the engines and the Enterprise warped out of control, reaching at least Warp 11 (maybe faster, I don't recall exactly) before Scotty jammed a magnetic thingie into the warp field generator. Just my $.02.
  7. I have a set of 6 Hungarian chevron-style national insignia plus a few numbers and stencils from a 1998 Academy MiG-21MF , 1/48 scale, no instructions. I'll send them to you at no charge if you want. PM me here if you're interested.
  8. I've done this before and I'll do it again...!!!!! Tom's Train's is a small shop at 925 Silas Deane Highway in Wethersfield, CT, right off od I-91, south of Hartford. OK, he is basically a train guy but don't hold it against him-he has a very good and constantly changing selection of a/c and armor (want a Hase F-14 or F-15 in 1/72 for around $15, or a great selection of Italeri a/c for under $10? Or 1/72 armor kits for under $10? He's your guy!). Or a current kit for a significant discount? I deal with him a lot mostly because I like to keep it local but also becuse he's a great guy. Google t
  9. Checked the book The Making Of The Empire Strikes Back (huge coffee-table book) out of my local library. There is a priceless picture for modelers that I tried to unsuccessfully scan. On page 192 there is a large photo of one of ILM's model shops, and in the back can be seen a huge stash of models to be scavanged for parts. Lots of Tamiya Formula 1 racers and just about everything else is Airfix of some sort. I recognize the logo but not the models themselves (recall, this is a 1978-1979 time frame). Any Airfix experts out there who can find the book at their library or bookstore and tell us
  10. My wife and I spent this last Halloween weekend in Salem, Ma. If you can make it, it's certainly worth the trip. Think Mardi Gras on a smaller scale. Most of the center of town is closed off to vehicles, with plenty of shuttles running from the local hotels ( we stayed in danvers, 7 miles out). The center of Salem has a big pedestrian only outdoor shopping mall, with tons of vendors, stores (and to be fair, tourist traps, but they're fun regardless). TONS of people, most on costume, from the very simple to extraordinarily elaborate. Huge signs everywhere warning parytgoers about a $50.00 fin
  11. Try as I might, I can't find out which ejection seats are used in the French Navy F-8s (late models) and Mirage F-1CR. Also, knowing this, are either of these available in in 1/72 scale aftermarket? It seems most every seat is available in one form or the other. Felinoid
  12. Well, I guess it's been decided...now, which HB version has the North Vietnamese markings?
  13. I have always liked the BTTF series. The second one was juuuussssttt a bit hard to follow........ But one thing constant through the series are the continuity jokes (NOT flaws!!!), best example being in the first film-the initial time machine demonstartion is at the Twin Pines Mall, Marty goes back to 1955 and takes out a tree, when he goes back to 1985 it's the Lone Pine Mall. Some people have told me there are dozens of similar references in the films. Any ARCers have any to share? Felinoid
  14. A few years ago, I did a few HobbyCraft/Smer 1/48 MiiG-17s, I was not all that impressesd, big problem was the fit of the fuselage halves, NOT good! So I see that HobbyBoss has issued a few diffrerent 1/48 kits, how does these rank? Are they new molds or reissues?
  15. Hey, Gary, I've sent a few messages asking for your mailing address, please respond. Felinoid
  16. Bought a 1/72 Su-7 kit, found out the cockpit is similar to it's 1/48 cousin-an out-of- scale, fiddley nightmare. Is there a resin (or other) aftermarket set? I suppose if there is one for a SU-17/22, that might work as well. Felinoid
  17. Oh, c'mon, this is a great deal!!! Finish your collection on Eastern Bloc a/c !!!! Hmmm,.....I'd like a trade with a 1/72 A-Model TU-95 "Fiddler", if that sparks anyone's interest.
  18. Up for grabs, Eduard kit # 2106, L-39 Dual Combo Third World. Two complete kits in one box, engraved panel lines, photo-etch for the cockpit (pre-painted!), and 8 (count 'em, 8!) decal options-Iraq,Cuba,Algeria,Libya,Cambodia,Nigeria,Bangladesh, and Ghana. US$ 20.00 plus shipping, PayPal strongly preferred. I may take a day or so to get back on any replies. Contact me through this post, thanks for looking.
  19. Are there any ARC members besides me based in central Connecticut (within 10-15 miles of the New Britain/Hartford area?) One, it's just a good thing to know. Two, I have a boxload of various kits that I might drop off at a local shop (no real time anymore) but I'd MUCH rather let them go to ARC members at very reasonable prices-I'd be glad to meet somewhere to discuss details. Drop me a pm here if interested, check me out under Good Traders, no problem. Felinoid New Britain, CT
  20. Yep, test-flew a Kopro 1/48 Su-7 into the wall-twice! Still the worst build ever, imho. I got excited at the Eduard Su-7 until I realised it was a reboxing (albiet with lots of nice resin parts, etc).
  21. Well, about two weeks ago I was cut from the Orange store's schedule, but I used the time wisely. 1) Took a week-long nap. 2) Signed up with a staffing agency at a career fair, got a call later that afternnon. Went in for an interview this morning, walked out with a job. Cool! Doing what, you ask....? Manufacturing panels (door panels, acess panels, control panel areas, etc) for a major defence contactor. In other words, building 1:1 scale parts. I am right now about the happiest guy in the world. Felinoid
