  1. We'll be glad to have you. Maybe you can buy something and have it ready to enter next year? I know I'll be shopping. Cheers,
  2. In my best "Waterboy" voice, YOU CAN DO IT!!! Seriously, we're used to the aroma of drying paint at the registraion desk! Seems like 50% of the contestants complete their entries the night before the contest begins. Personally, it's one of my prime motivators. Without it, I'd probably never finish anything! But come on and visit, even if you don't have anything to enter. With no model entry, it's free to come, look and socialize. And you can tour the museum again. Heck, you might even buy a model from a vendor! To quote Atlanta Rythm Section "So come on down and visit! You'll
  3. Great show as usual, Phlashers!! Had seven from IPMS RL Scott show up and we all had a great time. Yes, you looked very busy. I took pix of the 1/72 scale aircraft and they can be seen here: http://ipms-rl-scott.webs.com/apps/photos/...e=60&page=1 . I was glad to meet you so I could put a face with a name. Again, we had a great time and look forward to seeing you again in June. Now go have a cold one and relax a bit. Jay
  4. Thanks man, that helps me plan my budget! Jay
  5. Question for you, though. How much does it cost to enter a model? I've looked on your website and at your flyers and I can't find a price. I see IPMS members get a $2 discount but I can't locate the original price. But then, I might be blind as a bat :) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jay
  6. Great, You'll be amazed at how it has grown. Oh, and bring a bunch of your buddies with you when you come. Auburn ain't playing Alabama during the same weekend like last year when the contest was held in Oct. Ya'll ain't got no 'scuses this time ya' hear! Jay
  7. A bunch of us from Warner Robins will be there. Jay

  9. Nope, Not real. Just a modeler having fun with a "What if" paint job by putting a SAC SIOP scheme on it. Looked cool though and was a well made model. The 1/32 scale B-58 Hustler made of paper was neat, too. Jay
  10. Pixs are in. We'll be posting the winners/results as soon as we can. Jay
  11. Thanks, Holmes! Keep this up and we might have to make you an honorary member! Jay
  12. I believe Lonestar had a cockpit set and True Details had a wheels set and both included the liferaft. Both were in 1/48 scale, though. There's no aftermarket liferaft available in 1/72. You'll have to scratchbuild it. Shouldn't be difficult if you can locate some pictures. Unfortunately, I have none, but I'm sure someone out there does. Jay
  13. Just a bump. Only 33 days left. Contest webpage has been updated to show the trophies/plaques to be awarded.... http://ipmsrlscottcontest.webs.com/trophiesandplaques.htm
  14. You guys are making me blush. In all seriousness though, thank you. However, I believe there are plenty of individuals out there that have sacrificed a lot more than me that deserve thanks even more. But, thank you. Anyway, back to the thread topic. This is just a bump for SCOTTCON to get it back on everyone's RADAR after the Nats. I have one update any armor guy would appreciate. Even though the contest will be held at an aviation museum, we've arranged for Chuck Herbert to display his restored 1942 M2A1 halftrack and 37mm anti-tank gun. Chuck is a member of the U.S. 3rd Armored Divisio
  15. Thanks very much Holmes. As one who served elswhere, I really appreciate that. Anyway, this is just a monthly bump of our contest announcement. The Atlanta Model Expo just occurred yeasterday. I attended and it was a great event. We're just 1 1/2 hrs south straight down I-75 from Atlanta, so if you attended it, you surely can attend us. In fact, I will guarantee two things: we have a great museum and the weather will be cooler. So come on down and visit us in Oct. Cheers, Jay
  16. Afternoon all, SCOTTCON 2010 pix can be viewed here... http://ipms-rl-scott.webs.com/apps/photos/ I'm by no means a professional photographer but I thought you may enjoy seeing them. Tried to get them all, but I know I missed quite a few. Judging and other duties took me away quite a bit. Cheers, Jay
  17. IPMS Robert L Scott will be there in force. Expect 10 or more of us to be there. Just keep the print tucked away for us, OK? Jay
  18. Hey Tragik, Here's a link to a thread on another forum where they are talking about the glass aft of the cockpit if you're curious. http://www.network54.com/Forum/149674/mess...t%3B+vs+P40+B-C Jay
  19. Nice recovery, Tragik! I think all that work has given the cockpit an authentic "worn" appearance. Just remember to do it on all your models, now! Jay
  20. "Unfortunately, the fuel filler caps were actually on the port side. The factory photo is part of a series, several of which were accidentally reversed (look lettering on the toolbox and workstand.)" Dang!!! I should've caught that. Glad the storage compartment hatch wasn't a snake! It would've bitten me! Nevertheless, some P-40s did have an opening on the starboard side as well. It was an opening: not the fuel caps as on the port. Page 68 in Bert Kinzey's P-40 in Detail (below) illustrates it quite well. The opening is clearly under the glass and has no cap. What it is, I don't kno
