  1. Norm Filer is probably welling up right now! Wow!
  2. If it was "reboxed" by Ace, it was probably an Ace original. Revell issued a lot of Ace kits.
  3. I should think the gun would work if properly aimed. The Navy's CWIS (?) is a gatling gun designed to shoot down incoming anti-ship missiles, so . . . .
  4. The thing I question is wouldn't the gun be a better solution? A lot less expensive than a million (?) dollar missile against an non-maneuvering, simple flying bomb. I dunno.
  5. One of the pictures shows a Harrier carrying an AIM-120 AMRAAM. It reads that the Harriers were modified for air defense, so yeah!
  6. Guess I'll have to buy another couple BPK kits! I've got to get the C-40 and I've got the T-43 and built the P-8 Poseidon. And I'll need another shelf.๐Ÿ˜
  7. So will this be the new AWACS for the USAF?
  8. Yes, the AC stands for aircraft.
  9. It's the "new" Microscale that comes out with "new" sheets. They are mostly railroad decals, but still bring out "military" aircraft, too. Check it out. You'll see some redos of subjects we first saw from them back in the '70s and '80s, rearranged a bit, but can't vouch for the accuracy: https://www.microscale.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=MILITARY
  10. It's ALMOST enough to make me build another Monogram BUFF. Maybe I'll just "remark" this one:
  11. No offense comprehended! I just can't buy decals for a kit I won't buy!๐Ÿ˜Š
  12. Externally, the VC-9 and C-9A Med Evac would differ mainly in markings. The bad news is that this is a Mach 2 kit.๐Ÿ™
  13. "Would love to see some of the NAVY F-104....." Well, you get two out of three Navy jets on the sheet.
  14. I didn't notice any major inaccuracies on the Special Hobby kit. Why isn't the intake "right"?
  15. Trumpeter also has you load a mix of Mk.81 (250 lb) and Mk.82 (500 lb) bombs on each MER. I don't think that was done in practice as it would present all sorts of bombing solution and salvo problems to the pilot/bombardier. No problem, though, nearly all of the ordnance in the kit is misshapen and incorrectly sized (to my eye, anyway). I'll leave off the kit ordnance and find aftermarket alternatives.
  16. If you can find enough alternate markings for Bomarcs, you can make them in 1/72 scale: https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/SVM-72060?result-token=gGMTQ
  17. Will finish No. 24 later this week, averaging two per month. In reality, some took a couple of months, some too, a few days.
  18. Yes, but where does it go on the airplane?๐Ÿ˜€
  19. Pretty much. You may want to have references of the aircraft you want to model to choose which alternate parts you need.
  20. PB (besides being my initials) stood for Pope/Bragg. I'm not going to swear that this aircraft ever flew over Vietnam, but the camo and codes are from the time period of the conflict.
  21. Finished today, Zvezdaโ€™s C-130E Hercules in SEA camo. The Zvezda kit is really stellar compared with the old Italeri kit. It has a LOT of interior detail that you wonโ€™t likely see unless you look straight into the opened cargo ramp. Since I wanted this model to be closed up, interior detail would never be seen. So I saved a LOT of time by not installing any interior behind the cockpit bulkhead. The kit comes with a lot of alternate parts. Nominally a C-130H, there are parts that will represent earlier variants such as a stock C-130E from the Vietnam War - early short sponsons, simp
