  1. Hi Was wondering whether anyone can point me in the right direction of an easy to use graphics software package that will allow me to design custom decals? Thanks Herky ;)
  2. Entries for me will be 1/72 Revell Hawker Hurricane IIc 84 Squadron "McRobert's Reply" and the 1/72 Tamiya P-51D in Tuskegee Airmen markings. Box shots to follow!!! Thanks Herky ;)

    RCAF Lancaster

All good stuff Bob...looking at the Zotz sheet "Sugar Blues" had a Martin mid-upper turret, which appears to be further forward than the usual 0.303 equipped turret and was apparently armed with 0.50mm machine guns. Was also thinking of modelling her as 428 Ghost Squadron was based close by to where i live at Middleton St George (now Durham Tees Valley International airport) in County Durham, England. Don't suppose you can point me in the direction of any references for the Martin turret? Thanks Rob

    RCAF Lancaster

Hi there Dew I can help with this one as i am currently researching 6 Group Bomber Command, which comprised RCAF squadrons that operated from airfields in my region. I also hope to build a few of these subjects now that Revell have launched their 1/72 Lancaster. Here goes with decal sheets: 72-224 Aeromaster Lancaster Bombers at War - includes Lancaster MkX VR R KB772 "Ropey", 419 Squadron, RAF Middleton St George (with sharksmouths on each merlin engine) Tally Ho! Decals The AVRO 683 Lancaster B. Mk1/MkX Volume Two Lancaster Mk.X SE N KB872 "No! Not Now", 431 Squadron, RAF Croft (Girlie
  5. Does anyone know what shade of green (Federal Standard FS or British Standard BS) that the British Army Apaches use. It looks quite like the US Helo Drab colour but under some conditions resembles RAF Dark Green like that used on the RAF Merlin and Chinook. Any help appreciated. Rob
  6. I was speaking with Alistair from A2Zee Models a few weeks ago at the IPMS Tyneside model show and he hopes to start soon on a range of conversions for the Revell 1/72 Hunter F6 to enable early and later versions to be made. Lets hope that these come off as the Revell 1/72 Hunter FGA9 is nowhere to be seen despite the F6 version being around for a couple of years! Rob

    Decals Wanted!

Does anyone know if any of the decal manufacturers produce markings for the current low-viz grey Atlantics used by the French Navy? Thanks Rob

    Acrylics

Wondered whether anyone had dried airbrushing the new Humbrol acrylic paints? Looks to be a full range of colours and whats more my local hobby store will be stocking them!!! Rob
  9. I don't suppose anyone has heard any more about the proposed Revell 1/72 Lightning F.6 that is due for release later in the year? I know that there has been a big debate raging as to whether it is the old Frog/Has kit or new tool! I really hope that it is new tool as it is such a beautiful fighter and looked great whether it was in NMF, green/grey camo or low viz greys. If it is new i'll be buying a job lot!!! Regards Rob
  10. Hi Andy Love the Hunter!!! What paints did you use? Thanks Rob
  11. Managed to finsh this last night. Undercarriage was a bit fiddly but got there in the end. Photos to follow soon! Herky5
  12. Hi Phoenix Am looking to do the Revell 1/72 and 1/32 Hunter F.6 in 92 Sqn colours, with this squadron being based locally in the late 50s/early 60s. Sorry, can't help on the blue used but would be interesting to know what shade this was. Could i ask what make of paint you intend to use for the High Speed Silver underside? Regards to another local modeller. Rob (Herky5) Durham, England :)
  13. Hi You should not have any problems applying future over Gunze acrylic paints if you leave plenty of time for drying. I normally give Gunze paints 24 - 48 hours to dry before laying down clear. Gunze acrylic thinners also helps cut down on drying time a little and improves spraying. Herky5
  14. Varnish coat applied, ASRAAMS and undercarriage painted up, ejectio seats need installing in cockpit and a few small details need to be added. Nearing final stage of completion. A nice looking fighter trainer!!! Look out soon for photos. Rob (Herky5)
  15. Decals on.....woooo, those stencils sure did take some time to apply!!!
