  1. Moe, It does include the wheels... As a matter of fact, I built the ski version, and have the wheels & struts in my spares box. If you need them, let me know. Chris
  2. Serelle, Thanks for posting that picture. I didn't realize the birdcage's were painted in the 3 tone scheme..... I guess my post wasn't ANY help to you! :) Chris
  3. I read Tom Blackburn's biography, and he was the skipper of VF-17 when they made their first combat deployment to the pacific. IIRC, he said in his bio that the jolly roger flags were painted on the aircraft after they started flying the 3 tone 1A's. BRB.... I just checked my references that I used when I built Chico Freeman's VF-17 corsair, and all the pictures I have are of the bones on the 1A's with the three tone scheme. None of my pictures of VF-17 2 tone planes have the bones. Kind of long winded, but HTH. Chris
  4. Congrats, John. Welcome to the fraternity. I echo Sponge's sentiment about Corpus Christi. I got drafted to go to VT-27 instead of Whiting..... I was ******! (because I had a HOT girlfriend in Pensacola at the time.) THEN I got to Corpus Christi and saw how much more laid back the program was than Whiting. As to worrying about what community to select, Once you start AI, don't think about that stuff. Just concentrate on preparing yourself the best you can for your next event. If you do that, the selection process will take care of itself! Don't forget to blow off steam (frequen
  5. Somehow I missed this thread when the Hacker struck.. Jay, that Intruder is SWEET! I really like seeing the different paint scheme. The A-6 has always been my favorite aircraft, and I'd love to enter the group build, but unfortunately my twins are taking up most of my free time. Keep up the good work! I'll live vicariously through you on this GB! Chris
  6. Seems like every time I pick up a model to dust it, I snap something off. I snapped the radio antenna on my Ju-88 twice, I knock Mk 82's off my A-6, Rockets from my F9F, gear doors on my Fw-190's.... The list goes on & on... I use the soft brush trick, Will. I believe I will try the compressor as well. That sounds like a good idea. Chris
  7. Bill, I've said it before, but I'll say it again. You are the MAN! Those builds are great. Your attention to detail has always impressed me, and it amazes me even more when I see that many great builds completed this year! Well done. Chris (always looking on the boards for a BillL build thread! )
  8. Sweet, JC. That is a good looking BMF on a cool subject.! Chris
  9. Liam, Whenever I spray red or yellow, I always make sure I have a solid undercoat of white. It seems to make the color of the red or yellow more vibrant. If the red isn't correct over an undercoat of white, try varying the shade of red! HTH, Chris
  10. Titan, I don't have my books in front of me, but I believe you need to use the perforated speed brakes and omit the Tram turrent under the nose and the intake scoop on the upper rear fuselage. I'm not sure if this is all the changes needed, but I'm pretty sure these things need to be done! Chris

    Crud

I was intruduced to the non refereed, combat crud by the Canucks when I was TAD to Greenwood. Pretty rough night, but no bones were broken. And Karl, I LOVED teaching them to play Klondike! I think I made enough cash that night to cover my bar bill for the entire Det! Chris
  12. Looks gorgeous Bill! Your builds are always spectacular! You built this kit in record time. It took me the better part of a year! Chris
  13. Brian, When the VP Navy started the High Vis markings again in the 90's, there were Low Vis TPS painted birds with the colored squadron logos on the tail. The last 3 digits of the BuNo were painted in black under the cockpit on both sides. Some squadrons pushed the boundaries a little and added color elsewhere on the plane. Just check references for the specific airframe. If you want, I think I have some VP-94 Low vis paint/High Vis marking pictures at home. I'll check. Chris
  14. Jose, That engine looks great! :( As a matter of fact, I'm building the Italeri Ta-152 kit OOB now and it doesn't include an engine. I think you should sent that little gem to me! J/K, keep up the good work, and keep us posted! Chris
  15. I would expect no less..... Gotta warm up on the transpac home at the end of deployment! Chris
  16. I'm pretty sure the AF F-4's are from VF-201, formerly of NAS Dallas... Chris
  17. Were they adult "training" films? Chris
  18. I use testors liquid cement to thin Tamiya putty and it works great! Chris
  19. A6, I've got an extra 1/48 Hobbycraft Bearcat if you are interested. It's the blue angels boxing. It's a pretty good little kit. Let me know if you want it, I'll let it go cheap. Chris
  20. Holy Moly! Chris, that look superb! I loved your 109, and I like this one even MORE! Chris
  21. SWEET! As always, nice job Greg. Chris
  22. Wow. That really looks nice, Chris! Can't wait to see your Dora. Chris
  23. Mog, I always leave my canopies masked until I have sprayed the flat coat. ( I learned this the hard way!) Unfortunately, the flat coat WILL dull the canopy. Then you have to strip it, and refuture or repolish. HTH, Chris
  24. Joe S. (Helo Dud) needs to be added to the good trader list. When I put out a call for a 1/48 Monogram F-4J canopy, Joe stepped up and sent me his extra. Wouldn't take a payment. Thanks, Joe. Hopefully this will help me finish my F-4 for the group build. Chris
