I'm building a 1/32 F-18C for a friend and I have a question about the Hornet rudders. All my reference photos of static display aircraft show different displacement of the rudders. Some photos show them both deflected out, some show both deflected in, and others show them either both left or both right. What is a correct placement for an unpowered Hornet? Chris

What is your opinion of Delta's new livery?
Chris Kethan replied to cmhjets's topic in Airliner Modeling
It's crap. And the really sad thing is we (the Delta employees) paid a ton of money to some outside marketing firm to come up with that garbage. I never understood why you change liveries when you have one of the most identifiable logos. Bring back the Widget. Chris -
The only livery worth a $hit.... The "Widget" of course. The "Ron", "Beach towel", and the new unnamed POS shouldn't even be considered. Chris

Jon Mitchell (Yoxford) is the man. We talked about a trade last week, and concluded it in less than a week. When I got the kits, Jon had thrown in a partially used set of decals for my new Bf-109 G6. Thank you, Jon. Jon is a top rate dealer. Every time I trade kits on ARC I am blown away by the honesty & integrity of the people I have dealt with. Chris

Tired of Topgun? Jets got you bored?
Chris Kethan replied to Brian P: Fightertown Decals's topic in Jet Modeling
God, that brings back some memories... The Crypto box, PQS, box lunches...... I actually played alot of games of Foosball on that table. I nearly $hit my pants when I heard the "Sanford & son" theme after takeoff.. What makes it REALLY funny is I actually lived that $hit... Chris -
David, That thing looks GREAT! I really like the exhaust and the camo job. Superb paintwork. The canopy looks nice, too! Thanks for sharing that! Chris

Paul, When I returned to the hobby in 98, I was apprehensive about buying a double-action airbrush. Don't be. It sounds alot more complicated that it is. I've got a Badger 150 and I've NEVER had a problem with it. It's the only airbrush I've ever used or owned. Like Toad said, I keep it very clean. As a matter of fact, I strip it down completely after every color I spray. Just go buy yourself a good double action airbrush. It won't take long to get the hang of it. Chris

Could someone please give me some ideas for loading up my Hornet? I'm building it for a good friend of mine, and I want it to look good..(and accurate) I'm going to use the TwoBobs VFA-25 sheet. I don't have the sheet yet, so I'm not sure what time frame the decals are for.... Also, in addition to the weapons, I need to know what pods I need to add that correspond to the weapons. Here are my choices: AIM-9 Sparrow AMRAAM HARM HARPOON/SLAM GBU-10 GBU-24 JDAM Maverick Mk 82 (slick & snakeeye) Drop tank AN/AAR-50 AN/AAS-38 Flir AN/ASQ-173 LDT/SCAM I'd appreciate any help!

Looks great, Ron! I love that scheme on the Wurger. Chris

I'll add a few.. 1/48 Tamiya Me-262 Fw-190 A3 & F8 & D9 A-1H 1/48 Hasegawa A-4 series Bf-109 series F-8 The most rewarding for me to build, was my 1/48 A-6E. It was the second kit I built after returning to the hobby, and the first kit I employed a wash, and used my new airbrush. Chris

Just completed a trade with Randie. (ARC name Rcoulter52) Great transaction. In fact, he made me feel bad because I mailed kits to him via regular mail. He sent kits to me PRIORITY mail. How's THAT for service. I'll trade with him anytime. Chris

Paddler, Great looking diorama and a very cool idea! If you want the viewer to view it from a certain angle, why don't you convert it into a shadow box... Complete with the airbrushed clouds, sides & top of the box, with a light in it? That would definately force the viewer to see it the way you want it presented.. Once again, great job of a cool idea. Chris

Sweet.... I always love looking at a well painted & weathered Luftwaffe fighter. Yours is superb. Chris

Traded some kits with Jim (ARC name 'Mist')... Feel free to trade with Jim as he makes the Great trader list with flying colors. It certainly is nice that we have a community where we can mail off kits, decals, parts, etc, and send them to a person I have never met - KNOWING I will get exactly what I expect to get in the deal. Thanks, Jim Chris

I actually spray a light mist coat of the underlying color over the decals. It really fades the decals into the paint nicely. Here are my layers.. 1. Paint 2. Clear Coat 3. Wash 4. Clear coat 5. Mist coat over decals 6. Dullcoat Here's a couple of examples: HTH, Chris

Great finish, Greg! Looks sweet! Chris

Here's one of my favorites of the greatest aircraft ever to come out of the Grumman Iron Works.... Chris

I think they are Mk. 60 Captor mines. The contain a Mk. 46 torpedo. Chris

I do it to Southwest guys all the time... Reminds me of a story. A certain 'unnamed' aircrew flipped off a southwest crew, then made a PA to the passengers pointing out the Southwest airplane and their "friendly" employees just as the southwest crew returned the salute......Sweet! B) :) Chris

Neu, That VA-25 profile really looks great! It makes me want to build another A-7 - this one in -25 colors - to go sit next to my VA-25 skyraider. Chris

Of course its legal for the other "OAB" series weapons to marry the SCOAB. Chris

Yawn....

I have never understood the popularity of Eggplanes.... :) Chris
