  1. :D, You fellows aren't the only ones who miss Matchbox. I like their esoteric subjects like the Siskin, P-12, Heyford, Stranraer Dornier Do 28 etc. I wish someone would bring them back or that Revell would continue to make them. , Ross.
  2. Hi TT. I just tried to send you a pm and it bounced back saying you weren't able to receive any new messages. Just wondering if your pm inbox is full. , Ross.
  3. :D, My apologies Faust. The Hercules is of course a 14 cylinder engine. All my life I've grown up with the idea of it being an 18 cylinder. Well I guess I should be happy that I was half right! Of course it was the Centaurus that was the 18 cylinder Bristol  , Ross.
  4. :D, G'day Faust. That's a nice little model you have there and a good idea too. My only criticism is that the Hercules was indeed an 18 cylinder engine like the BMW 801. The engine you've used is a 14 cylinder one and not really representative of the Hercules which was a sleeve valve engine hence no pushrods or rocker boxes. The pushrods on your engine are very obvious and perhaps slightly spoil an otherwise great build. However the quality of your work is first class and I do like your paint job. Congratulations on this one mate. , Ross.
  5. :D, Beautiful work there Thommo, RiderFan and Whitey. Thommo, was that 2 seat Mirage modified? I seem to remember the Matchbox kit having the early style tail fin with the leading edge notch whereas ours had that notch filled in by the leading edge. I spent many hours working on A3-101 at OCU back in the day. The duals were a little easier to work on than the singles, particularly if you had to change the aircon duct sensor. Five minute job in the dual, at least four hours in the single. I also like the Norseman, Corsair, Helldiver and of course the Sabre. I know that one is modified. That Bu
  6. :D, Good work there so far Thommo. Is that aluminium foil you're using for the seat belts? Things are looking good at this point and I'm sure they look even better as you progress. , Ross.
  7. :D, I'll be watching this one Thommo. I have one or two of these in my stash from many years ago. They're nice little kits that make up into beautiful little models. I also think the Matchbox P-12 is just as nice as these. Also got one or two of those in the stash. , Ross.
  8. :D, Curtiss-Wright refer to it as a ship so maybe "plating" isn't such an inappropriate word. , Ross.
  9. Today I discovered why my little Niva 4x4 was using so so much petrol. The last time I took it to the shop for a service they took the fuel filter off and back blew it. When they replaced it they didn't tighten one of the pipe nuts and it was leaking fuel from the pressure side of the filter. I only discovered it when I got out to open the gates and found a fluid leaking on the ground. It was petrol so I went looking for the leak. It didn't take long to find it. Found the right sized ...

  10. :D, By the way Zac. Good progress on the Woomera. I'll try to keep track of ebay to see if one of these comes up in the future. It really is an interesting type but as there were only ever 2 built there isn't much likelyhood of it going into large scale model production. , Ross.
  11. :D, G'day Zac, What a pity about those drawings. People can just be so careless with things that have no value to them personally but which can be very valuable to others. In 1943 the remains of the only Lasco Lascoter ever built by Larkins Aircraft Supply Company at Coode Island in Melbourne were dragged out of the back of the old Lasco hangar there as "a piece of junk" by the RAAF who took over all civilian airfields during WW2 and burned on the spot. The Lascoter was Australia's first home designed and built all metal aircraft and deserved preservation for that reason alone. I have a person
  12. :D, That's quite a nice little model there Ryan. I like it. , Ross.
  13. :D, G'day Zac. I was just trawling through back pages of the forum and found this one. How is she going? I'll keep this one bumped up to the front of the forum. I'll keep up my personal interest in this project. It would be nice to see say a resin kit of this aircraft. The Woomera was indeed a very rare bird and one which was technologically advanced for its time. It's a shame the first one of the two crashed killing the observer and a civilian engineer. The second was somewhat different from the first in a number of ways but mostly around the tail area. The fact tha tthey scrapped the second
  14. :D, He really must be a kangaroo short in the top paddock if he thinks he's going to sell that stuff for the prices he's asking. Why would anyone even consider buying his Dakota/DC/3 for that price when there's advertised just below his for just 13 quid. What game is he playing? I doubt he's a successful businessman and no Ryan, I don't think he's put the decimal point in the wrong place, going from his other listings, I think he really believes some fool will actually buy his crappy listings for the price he wants. But not this little black duck. It's not as though Italeri Dakotas are rare on
  15. :D/>, Great to see that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people in general and the people from the area around Williamtown and Newcastle in particular being acknowledged. I do hope that Red Roo will bring out decal sheets in all the scales for this aircraft. Looks like I'll have to buy another Academy F/A-18C to build up a model of this one. :cheers:/>, Ross.
  16. :D, I'm aghast at this. I think the only person he's kidding is himself. I doubt even a billionaire with more money than sense (and I don't kow any of those) would even sniff at this one. Has he got any nibbles yet? , Ross.
  17. :D,Hi Dave, A great build but not without a few issues from the sound of it. But then that's what modelling is about I reckon, ironing out the issues. Yours looks great. Congratulations. , Ross.
  18. :D/>/>, Added to what I've already said I agree with those who've said "see your doctor". Having been a trainee paramedic, they aren't qualified to officially diagnose anything. All they can do is use their knowledge to give on scene treatment and then transport to hospital continuing treatment on the way. Ryan, all the things you described are likely to cause what happened to you. 4 1/2 years ago I spent a fortnight in the hospital where I work with delirium. Three of the things that can cause this are a chest infection, sleep deprivation and withdrawal from a drug. I had all 3 at the
  19. :D, Darn it. Someone should call the Thought Police. We're getting off topic again. , Ross.
  20. :D, Now the VEB-Plasticart kit I do have in the stash and it is a beautiful little model. Well enough detailed and nicely done too. , Ross.
  21. :D, Yep, heat, humidity and dehydration will surely do that to you. Plus you'd have the heat of the BBQ coming up at you. I always have a bottle of water handy when I'm grilling on the barbie. , Ross.
  22. :D, Hi Sean, birds such as the An-28 aren't particularly well kown in the west but they are pretty well known in the east. All the kits of the An-28 I've seen so far are in 1/144 scale; so far I haven't seen a 1/72 scale one yet but I live in hope. I also live in hope of a 1/72 Lincoln apart from the Contrail vacuform. , Ross.
  23. :D, Or seeing as we're discussing a rare bird, how about an even more rare conversion. Who's heard of the Lincolnian? , Ross.
  24. :D, And I don't think it's going anywhere real quick. at least not with the beaching geaqr still attached. Although there was a fixed wheeled undercarriage for them but it wasn't often fitted. , Ross.
  25. :D, Hi afspret, Maybe there will be now that it's been discussed here. I'm sure the manufacturers read forums like this to see what's trending and what's not but maybe it's just as I said in my second last post that the manufacturers are busy with their current projects and just haven't thought of it yet. They're human too don't forget and like the rest of us do tend to get tied up with what they're doing at this time. I'm another who would like to see the Lincoln in 1/72 injected form, with the option of making the GAF Mk31 longnose version. , Ross.
