  1. I'm only a mere LT in the RN; due to go out in July. OP Calash mainly but some time in the NAG relieving our ship up there so they can get some RNR time. 7 months without modelling
  2. The only reason I joined is for the competition. I don't take it too seriously though, its a bit of fun, the more people who enter the better the whole thing I reckon. I like the free/early entry into SMW however. I belong to IPMS Avon but was a non IPMS member for years. I'm not a huge fan of the mag to be honest. It tends to be full of comittee meeting minutes, not very interesting . If they have to publish all that blah they could do it on paper as an insert and free up more space for Bf 109 articles and the like!
  3. True, but we drivers still call them Burp blades. Much easier than CMRB.
  4. Thanks everyone for the encouraging comments. Here are some answers to a few questions. Entirely scratch built from bits and pieces. Bugger, good spot. Thanks. I don't think they call it Silver Fox any more. Authentic shades? Anyway, this stuff in the No. 11 tin went on lovely, I thinned it with lacquer/cellulose thinners and misted it on. After decalling it was flat coated with Xtracrylics matt befor the weathering.
  5. I bought Trumpeter MiG-19 Pavla cockpit set for the above Hasegawa Bf-109G-6 (£12, bargain) EagleCal decals for the above Eagle Cals Bf-109G-6 1:72 Berna clamps Alclad - 3 shades and primer Master Caster's sanding sticks What I needed and didn't get were Eduard etched sets for the MiG True details Bf-109 cockpit in 72nd. Little Cars wire Bugger I also got given a Revell Fw 200 for MAI and I won an airbrush from Cammett. All in all a very pleseant weekend. Oh, nearly forgot, I bought some Xtracrylics PRU blue for SeanW as I used his for a build. I'll give it to you at the next m
  6. Hi guys, here is my P-47 done straight from the box. I used Humbrol 11 silver and Sky Models decals.
  7. I love these kits. I have built the G-2, G-4, G-6, G-10 and K-4 but not an F. Great work. Where were the kits for sale and how much? I missed them. I get mine for about £14 from HLJ, i'd be interested to compare prices.
  8. Mike It is a bit flimsy as you might expect. I also used a fair amount of filler joining the wing to the fuselage. It takes a bit of work and is not as easy as their Avenger (the last Trumpeter kit I made) but builds up well. If you get one you won't be disapointed.
  9. Nearly there, the model has been painted and weathered. I used Gunze RLM 65 for the underside and Xtracrylics for the upper camouflage. The contrast was pretty low between the upper colours so I lightened the 72 colour. All the markings are sprayed on using the Montex system. Look out for the full build article in a forthcoming edition of Model Airplane International magazine.
  10. Really nice Bill. What scheme are you doing it in, the Royal Navy I hope (but then I am biased, my last tour was on Fixed Wing Standards)?
  11. Brett Green over on Hyperscale used the A-8. Here's the link. http://hsfeatures.com/features04/fw190a7cw_1.htm
  12. I have just taken delivery of Montex's masking set for Dahl's Blue 13 in December 1944. The Reich defence bands according to Montex are blue white blue (late JG. 300) whereas many profiles have red (early JG. 300). Which would be correct, I'm leaning towards Montex as usually they are spot on?
