    Flying Cheetahs

Hello I am looking for "Flying Cheetahs" insignia to build a 2 Squadron SAAF 1/72 P-51D in Korea. Do you know any aftermarket decals for that? Sincerely
  4. Hello Yes Hasegawa Mk IX. An old box with everything to make pointed or rounded rudder, short or normal wing span, retractable or not tail wheel, short or long carburretor intake. Actually I have got five different boxes (Mk VIII and IX). But remember it is 1/72 ! Patrick
  5. Hello Update for my French era Viêt-Nam war Spitfire. I have finished the wing undersurface. The cockpit sides were painted with enamels to later use an acrylic wash. I cut the entry door to open the canopy. And now the pilot's seat. Next will be the closed fuselage. So far, the pace has been right. Patrick
  6. Hello After all your answers, in short it is urgent to wait for another Fury. Maybe there will be a Revell re-issue of the Matchbox kit at a bargain price, which is not the case for original boxes. Furthermore the kit is planned one day by MPM. Patrick
  7. Hello It is interesting to hear about the FK-51 as I am finishing the Spanish Republican version from Azur. Maybe later I will buy the Dutch one. The kit is very easy to build but the transfers are very thin. Hopefully for me they were few. For the rigging I used the pictures published in the french magazine "Avions" some years ago. Sincerely. Patrick
  8. Hello Jim It seems that the Skyraider is a star whithin this GB. Sincerely Patrick
  9. And now it is better to see the pictures than the links. Patrick
  10. Hello I have finally started creating my Spitfire. Here are the first pictures. I added inside some plastic bits and some length of soldering wire. The blue lines are to be filled as actually they are rivet lines. The wing is modified as an "e" wing. The seat belts are made with aluminium sheet. That's all for the moment. Patrick
  11. Hi Christiane A very nice choice. I like this little bird full of ordnance. Regards. Patrick
  12. Hi Before cutting the sprues here are a summary of the French Spitfire operations in Indochina between 1945 and 1950 : The first Spitfires the French Air Force flew in Indochina were some Mk VIII borrowed from the RAF in Tan Son Nhut (Saigon) in Cochinchine. They were used in anger on December 13, 1945 by the GC II/7. Later GC I/7 “Provence†and GC II/7 “Nice†were re-equipped with Spitfire Mk IX, this time bought from GB. The first Tonkin operation ended in March 1946 and by this time the two squadrons flew over 600 sorties, expended 150.000 ammos and dropped 28 t of bombs with only f
  13. Good morning everybody. Today, May 7th, is the anniversary of the end of the entrenched camp of Dien Bien Phu. With this subject I would like to think of all the people who fought and died around the landing stripes and the nine strongholds. Some years ago I made this plane from that period. Patrick
  14. Hi Triet It's a very nice start with the right scale. Don't you consider using a dark wash for this tiny cockpit? Regards. Patrick
  15. Hi They were actually very weathered as they soldiered on with 4th Escadre de Chasse (Fighter Wing) after they were used by 2nd Escadre in Indochina. The fighters stayed when the units turned. Patrick
  16. Hi It will be a Hasegawa 1/72 Sptfire Mk IX with an "e" wing. Patrick
  17. Hi. I have the article from Warren Thompson in International Air Power Review N°12 and I can answer that : During their first deployment at Da Nang the Starfighters were Natural metal finished. The 476th, 436th and 435th TFS, were used for CAP to protect F-105 strikes and EC-121 patrols. But there was no MiG activity and they were switched to weather recce and air-to -ground sorties. During the second deployment at Udorn they were camouflaged and it seems that the wheel hubs and the wheel bays were the same colour as the underside, i.e. 36622. Patrick
  18. Is-it possible to join with a Supermarine Spitfire LF Mk IX from 4th Escadre de Chasse? Patrick
  19. Hi Tuskawilla I am currently building the Azur kit in Desert Air Force colours and I can say the model is quite good. I added some plastic card in the fuselage with the help of the book from Ali d'Italia. I had to scratch build the radio operator office and modify the whell wells. You can as well go to : http://www.arcforums.com/forums/index.php?...11&hl=BAltimore That's all so far. Patrick

    Avro Manchester

Hello I have just built the Planet Manchester and I can say that it is not made for beginners. A Hasegawa conversion could be easier but not so cheaper. So wait and see the cottage industry. Patrick
  21. Hello Neil Can we hope the 1/72 Lincoln conversion to be back again? After the Hasegawa Lancaster and the Planet Manchester I want to go on with the family. Patrick

    MARTIN BALTIMORE

Very useful picture. We can see that there is no frame around the nose cone except for the bomb sight flat window. The bomb bay doors are rather thick. Regards. Patrick
