I live in Little River, South Carolina. About 2 minutes from the ocean.<br />Models: Mostly 48th scale WWII props, some jets, modern and cold war era, a car or two, and sometimes random other models. I have been seriously building for 5, 6 years and will never give it up barring an extinction level event lol. I consider myself an intermediate builder, ie good seems and mostly good paint jobs, my wash and decals skills lack though. I use some aftermarket and do a little scratchbuilding.<br />Thats all for now. See you around<br /> Zach(desilva6)
  1. I worked. Driving a cab. 12 hours non-stop. :(
  2. You could check out Bull Street Station on the corner of Bull and Oglethorpe. It's mostly a train and art supply store but last time I was in there they had a few aircraft kits. They do have quite the selection of train stuff like I mentioned as well as Polly Scale and a couple other varieties of paint, glues, tools, Evergreen sheet, Badger airbrush parts, and general art supplies. If you're a student ask for the discount. Hope that helps. :)
  3. Here's a thing I posted awhile ago. http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index....hl=myrtle+beach If you go to Ed's Hobbyshop they have a good selection of jets, Hasegawa, Italieri, Monogram, and others. They're a little pricey though. I still stop in there whenever I'm back up that way. Still a better shop than the one we have in Savannah, the nonexistent one. HTH, Zach
  4. Hmm, never heard of them. I'll check it out next time I'm that way.
  5. Yeah, I was talkin 48th scale. There a several kits of those I mentioned in other scales. I've been reading the other boards today and can't believe all the negative comments on it so far. I'll just have to buy two Storch's I guess.
  6. I'm excited about it. The Storch was a very successsful design with ton's of markings options. German, Italian, French, Vietnamese, plus some allied markings too I believe. We have the old Esci kit now right? Tamiya is assured to do this one state of the art with all the bells and whistles. As long as its not 50 bucks I'll buy one. I'd also be excited to see a new tool Grasshopper, Lysander, and Stinson too. We need more utility type a/c to model. Not everything goes 400 mph and shoots .50 calibers.
  7. Thats weird the sheet doesn't include the tiger stripes. Why show them on the listing? On this one the guy painted the stripes on. http://modelingmadness.com/reviews/mod/gb/kaiecr.htm Let me know if you want the extra sheet, I'll get them in the mail for ya.
  8. There is an aftermarket sheet for it. I forget right at the moment who does it though. I read somewhere the kits decals are oversized and difficult to work with. I have that kit and could send you the tiger decals if you want but I need the other decals, stencils and national markings, for the other version shown on the sheet. Hope that helps. edit: found the decals, I think. http://www.squadron.com/ItemDetails.asp?item=PY48104 I swear somebody else makes them too though. :D
  9. It does take some finesse on certain parts but I think it's pretty nice as well. I advice being careful when fitting the piece on the bottom of the fuse. where the gear attaches. Easy to get it crooked. Then the model sits all wonky. That happened on mine. Good to see one being built.
  10. After looking at those pictures I wished I had remembered to paint those frames interior green before the red. :) Ha, oh well. Thanks for the comments all. :)
  11. Thanks David Walker. I liked the red on o.d. as well. It was insignia red, which maybe I should have gone with a little brighter red, I don't know? Not one of my best builds lately. I ran into a ton of painting issues with it so I feel pretty good about just finishing it to some degree of satifaction. <_<
  12. Finished this one up recently, the Hasegawa P-47D in 48th scale. Used the Eagle Strike decals. I have to thank A4Silverfox for the prop on this one. I got fed up with the crazy parts breakdown of the kit prop and Silverfox was nice enough to send me a replacement. Thanks again!! This kit was originally intended to be "Georgia Peach" but I chickened out on the NMF. I still like these markings alot though. Comments welcome of course.
  13. Here's a couple of previews. I have not built it so I can't say how it is. There is also a Koster vacuform kit for about the same price. Might be worth looking at too. Hope that helps. http://www.modelingmadness.com/reviews/all.../poiventura.htm[/url] http://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/kits/fm/kit_fm_pv-1.shtml
