  1. Thanks Rob, glad I asked. 😊 I will remove that detail ASAP.
  2. The pilot’s coaming in the Res-Kit cockpit set features this handle. I am unable to find any photo showing this area on the AH-1G, but managed to find a decent photo of a later Cobra version where this handle is there. So, should the AH-1G have this handle or should I delete this detail because it is a feature only on later versions?
  3. Many thanks! 😊 It must be as in the below photo, then. (Cropped version of original photo borrowed from linked topic you linked to.) I wonder why it says EXPERIMENTAL on the armor plate, as I believe they were standard on all Vietnam Cobras.
  4. Any ideas on this matter? Ideas are most welcome. πŸ€—
  5. What could these two items (3D8) be? I’m thinking map lights, perhaps. But if so, would they have some kind of coiled cord going from them to somewhere? I have looked in the Squadron WA and trawled the webs but can’t find a good view of these items in place.
  6. Working on the Special Hobby (ICM) 32nd scale kit and wonder where this section of the pilot armor go when removed. Does it fold down or get removed altogether?
  7. Would like a pair of helmets to go with my ICM AH-1G Cobra. I searched this forum and the SPH-4 seem to be available from Reedoak in 1/48th and 1/35th scale: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/reedoak-480155-sph-4-vietnam-era-helicopter-pilot-helmet-pre-order--1250769 I’m aware of ICM’s heli crew set but would still prefer a 3D printed or resin cast item for better detail.
  8. This camouflage scheme as stated by Karaya for their decal set makes no sense, but maybe that’s just me. - A is probably a green like either RLM 81 or 82. (Assuming that RLM 83 actually is more of a blue…) - B is RLM 75? But why on the forward underside of the wing? - C should also be a green like either RLM 81 or 82? Certainly not RLM 76 like the instruction implicates. Any thoughts?
  9. I see that Red Fox offer a set of 3D instrument panels for the 1/32nd scale AH-1G Early by ICM. Would this set look OK in the Late version too? I have checked my refs but can’t find any conclusive info on possible cockpit differences. Comparing images of the IPs in the Eduard PE sets for Early and Late seem to show no obvious difference.
  10. Thanks Jens and Brian! πŸ™‚ Brian, do you possibly have a link to the post? I have looked around at the FD FB page but can't find the post you are referring to.
  11. I know, this is a long shot... But if anyone has tried using the Quinta stuff designed for the GWH kit on their Hasegawa F-15 I would really like to know how it worked out. Any thoughts? :)
  12. Yes, your modified nose gear is certainly not lowered as much as when being attached to the catapult. But I am still leaning towards leaving the kit part for the nose gear leg alone, I think it looks fine as it is.
  13. Yes indeed. Weathered it will be. πŸ™‚
  14. Hey, great find. Many thanks! πŸ˜€ Going from the photos and how the airframe surface varies in hues I am certainly leaning towards winter camouflage for "21". Thanks again!
  15. Thanks, great info! Looks like either version (white or aluminium) is just as likely. Some pondering need to be done...
  16. I am having trouble to pin down the paint scheme on this airframe. In the below illustration it has winter camouflage but the ICM 32nd scale kit says it is finished in aluminium overall. Any ideas on what is correct?
  17. Nice work! I really like how the paint scheme turned out. πŸ‘ But are you sure about the nose gear oleo being too long as it comes in the kit? I think the nose gear of your model looks slightly too low in the photos, making the model's nose sit a bit low. But that may be because of the angle in the photos. When modeling an airborne Tomcat I spent a lot of time looking at photos of the real aircraft and its nose landing gear. I came to the conclusion that the oleo was of the same length regardless of being airborne (without load) or on the ground (with load). (However, I did modif
  18. Sorry to learn this and I hope everything works out for the owner. And agreed, there's indeed a huge difference between the two approaches.
  19. Just curious about where their announced 1/48th scale Buccaneer went, as I haven't heard anything in a long while. I tried a search but not much turned up. 😐
  20. Indeed so. Some filler and sanding necessary, but looks doable. Btw, that mid style gun vent looks a wee bit soft in detail compared to, say, Hasegawa. Perhaps your box has two similar sprues with a part for the gun vent?
