  1. Dave, where do you get those types of needles? That's the kind of stuff I need. The regular needles I have aren't very good. Thanks much! Rob
  2. Does anyone know where I can find a really fine point scriber? I've looked around but most of the ones I've found aren't really fine/needle-like point scribers. I know I can use a needle chucked in a pin vise but I want something a little more durable. Any help will be appreciated. Rob
  3. Thanks you very much for the great feedback, everyone! I am pretty stoked about the F-100 but most importantly, I want to get better and increase my comfort level with scribing and riveting. I have most of the tools needed for the job so I guess it's just a matter of doing it. There are lots of Monogram kits I'd like to build but I don't mainly due to the panel lines. As most of us, I like recessed panel lines because they are easier to work with. If you lose one during the build process, it's generally easy to restore it. Not so much with raised lines. Anyway, you've given me quite a b
  4. I know this is a long shot but does anyone have one of these either for sale or for rent? I'll be happy to compensate you very fairly for one. If you do have one you can sell or rent, please contact me direct at [scalemodeling@hotmail.com]. I would really appreciate the help. Just in case, here's what the template looks like: Rob
  5. Hey all, I'm considering finally working on my 1/48 Monogram F-100. It's a great kit and one that has been sitting in the stash for more than 10 years. Because it's such a nice kit and of a subject I really like, I'd like to do it justice but getting rid of the raised panel lines and doing a full (or at least 90%) rescribe. Now, I know how to restore general panel lines lost due to sanding, etc, but I've never done a full kit rescribe. Is there anything I need to be mindful of when starting out? How should I go about exactly scribing the lines? I mean, do I somehow follow the raised lin
  6. Thanks, metro. I did purchase the Kitsworld decals today. They look great! Thanks for the tip about Life Color. I'll look it up. Rob
  7. Glad you posted this. Just purchased the IDS version but, after seeing your reply, I called and exchanged the kit for the GR.4. Much appreciated. Rob
  8. Have a couple of quick questions as I'm thinking I'd like to do one of these. 1) Were the Tornadoes in Desert Storm the GR.1 type? Where there any GR.4s? 2) If I were to purchase the 1/48 Revell IDS Tornado, can I make it a GR.1? If so, what would I need to change/add/delete/etc to make a GR.1? Thanks very much! Rob
  9. Looks great! I'm working on the 1/48 Academy version and it's a PITA to get it to look right. Rob
  10. PENDING All, I have the very nice 1/48 Tamiya P-47D Thunderbolt Razorback for sale. With it, I'm including the following aftermarket sets: 1/48 Ultracast P-47 Thunderbolt seats (with harness X2) 1/48 Ultracast P-47 Thunderbolt Covered Wheels (block tread) 1/48 Kits-World WAR Birds decals (KW148134) - Sheet includes markings for Stalag Luft III and Sex Wagon/Triss. Please note that both fuselage halves, cockpit parts, and wings have been removed from the trees only for dry-fitting purposes. Nothing has been glued or painted and the kit is in mint condition otherwise. I'd like $40 for
  11. Wow, you seriously nailed my feelings exactly!! I "only" have 50 kits in the stash but every time I come to build something, I look at the stash and I simply don't have the will to pull out a kit from it. I then I ask myself, "dude, wasn't that the reason for buying all these kits? You know, to pick whatever you want?" Not so, it's become a chore just getting something from the stash. It has gotten so bad that every time I want to work on something new I end up looking online and browse for kits to buy. I may have to try selling my stuff too and see how it goes. Problem is though, I'm a
  12. You should try this: Works really well! Rob
  13. Thanks for the tip on Sealmodel. I'll give them a try. They don't seem to have any of the greys for U.S. aircraft at the moment though. Rob
  14. I too love the Aqueous line but as to why they aren't accessible here in the U.S. I too would like to know. Regarding #2, Lucky Model sells them too. The only issue is that they no longer ship them via air. They now are shipped using the slow boat from Hong Kong (which it could take up to 6 months according to them). The last shipment of Gunze paints using Lucky Model and shipped via surface took almost 3 months to arrive at my doorstep. Some of the jars didn't make it though. They were completely dried out with some weird liquid pouring out of them. Rob
  15. That's an interesting observation, Chuck. Never thought about the other way around. Need to try it at some point. Rob
  16. Pretty much all British jets. Never, ever, thought I'd be interested in them at all and the suddendly I'm building the Academy Hawker Hunter and purchased the 1/32 Hawks (both Revell and Kinetic kits) and the Airfix Lightning. Don't know what happened there but I'm finding I like these jets more and more. Rob
  17. Looks like you need to just unscrew the air valve and take it from there. If the Neos are anything like the Iwatas, you should be able to remove the screw at the very bottom of the valve. This will then give you access to the valve internals and allow you to check for blockages. NEO part breakdown Rob
