  1. Yeah, that's too bad then. Hopefully they'll get the second batch from Sio and co. soon. Rob
  2. Trust me, I've had my share of issues with LM in the past so I know the feeling. I just think is always better to hear from the head honcho when things like this happen. You can always send them a message through their internal messaging system to find out what happened. Rob
  3. Yep, mine was shipped on the same day so I'm certain you'll see yours today or tomorrow. Rob
  4. All I know is that if the plastic/tooling on AMK's future F-14 kits are even remotely the same as the one in their MiG-31 kit then it will be the most amazing F-14 anyone would ever hope for! You can't really appreciate how great the tooling on the Foxhound truly is until you see it in person. Rob
  5. Perhaps Raymond will chime in and provide some sort of explanation. Geez, I now feel like I may have been one of the few "lucky" ones... Rob
  6. Oh wow, sorry about that guys. I would have thought that everyone who pre-ordered from Lucky would most likely have their kits now. I don't know when you all placed your pre-orders but I did almost as soon as they listed the kit for pre-order. Hobby Easy had their pre-order links up first but I decided to pass and get it from Lucky. If I remember correctly, Lucky had theirs up a day or two after HE and that's when I I placed the order. I was watching the LM site like a hawk waiting for this kit to appear and jumped on it as soon as I saw it. I don't normally pre-order anything but this k
  7. Got mine today from Lucky Model! I have to say that the plastic is the best I've seen from any manufacturer, including Tamiya and GWH. If we get a Tomcat like this kit, I'll be in freaking heaven! Superbly done AMK! Rob
  8. Thanks gents! Guess I'll pass on it then. That's a great build, Darren! Rob
  9. Just saw this one at Micheals for a good price and wa wondering if it was a good kit overall. Is this an original Monogam kit, by any chance? Thanks, Rob
  10. I do this but ONLY if the build starts to give me issues during the assembly stage. If the assembly goes south and I don't have it in me to fix it to my standards, them I say bye bye and off it goes to either the trash bin or it becomes a paint mule to try things out. if something goes wrong during the painting stages, I put it back in the box and return at a later time with fresh eyes. Rob
  11. Like most, I use my index finger to pull the trigger. When I get tired after an hour or so, I use my thumb (with my index finger resting under the airbrush). I'll only use my thumb if I don't need to do detail work though. For finer painting, I have to use my index. You seem to be pinching the trigger with your thumb on it and your index helping push the trigger back for more control. That's a pretty interesting way of doing it. I may give it a try when I need to give my index some time to rest. Rob
  12. My Christmas present is the new AMK 1/48 MiG-31 Foxhound and is headed my way as I type this. Rob
  13. Would the Italeri S-3A/B Viking need this conversion set as well? Or, does it include all/some of these parts? Thanks! Rob
  14. I did the same thing (painting black first and then the grey on IPs) and I found that priming with a solvent-based primer (Mr. Surfacer, Alclad, etc) and then shooting Model Master black over it - and letting this "CURE" for 24 to 48 hours - works fine Also, I would NOT use Windex to remove the acrylic top layer. I would use an acrylic thinner like Tamiya's X20A or the ones from Vallejo to wipe the grey. Windex is just way too strong and will get into the enamel layer at some point. The acrylic thinners are a bit milder. Rob
  15. I'm not really into civilian jets but I definitely like this one. Rob
  16. My guess is that the worn effects didn't like either the enamel base or the fact that you put it on a semi-gloss base coat. The Worn Effects, like the hairspray, makes the model look glossy after application so it could be that the effect didn't have something like a matt coat to grip on and just beaded over the glossy paint. I haven't used mine yet but I've always seen it (and hairspray) applied over a completely matt base coat. Rob
  17. What kind of scribing tool are you waiting on? A year is a long time for sure! Longest I had to wait was from Lucky Model. Ordered some Gunze paints and it took a couple of months to arrive. Of course, they came by boat so that explained it. Rob
  18. Just checked Lucky Model (from where I preordered mine) and it hasn't shipped either. Seems like a lot of folks got theirs already. Rob
  19. I think that things like the boarding ladder and steps need to be done as separate pieces. The ladders are seen deployed quite often when the canopy is open. The obvious (for me) differences between the A and D models are: - Ejection seats - Chin pods (Ds had a dual pod) - Antennas on the spine (GPS dome, etc) - Antenna blisters on each side near the front of the intakes - Nose wheel bay doors - Gun vents - Boat tails I'm sure there are more...
  20. I'd like to see this scheme for an early(ish) F-14A. Rob
  21. The Custom Micron is great. I have the CM-C Plus V.2 and love it. Rob
  22. Man, I would absolutely love to switch back from acrylics to Mr. Color but the vapors/smell when sprayed is the ONLY thing holding me back. Rob
  23. As per the title, I have two (2) 1/48 Hasegawa F-14s I'd like to trade for your 1/32 Special Hobby X-15A-2 "with ground dolly". I can throw some good aftermarket with the Tomcats so please let me know if you're willing to trade. if so, please contact me direct at [scalemodeling@hotmail.com]. Thanks for looking. Rob
  24. Please do, Saul. Love to see the sprues on this one. Thanks! Rob
  25. Thanks guys! Those Mineshima tools sure look good but they are indeed expensive. Found some of the files too. Might give one a try. Rob
