Looking good so far! 👍

Very much agreed!... and should be done sooner than later, since those guys are the ones now passing on everyday and deserve better recognition, regardless of the outcome of the war.

Whoops, you're right... I was mistaken, sorry. Still, anyone know about the possibility of modifying their Whiskey to non-NTS?
-
So my understanding is that the forward canopy shape and height of the nose in front of it is different on the later models (as depicted by the kit)... does anyone know if the Italeri canopy and nose could be used to modify it? 🤔

Any new news about the production or 2nd book? I know he wanted to write a second book about his Cobra time.

Lead ball as a buoy?... GENIUS!... love it! Great build! 👍 -
Anyone that has bought this kit: https://www.eduard.com/aircraft-and-helicopters/1-72/aces-of-the-eighth-dual-combo-1-72.html?cur=2 And who is not planning to use the decals for this option:

The thing to keep in mind here, is that the serial as painted at the NMUSAF is not correct on the vertical or side of the fuselage. The REAL "Dream Girl" is a gate guard sitting at another Air Force base and is not painted correctly there either. The NMUSAF took another A-26 and painted it like "Dream Girl" but kept it's original serial. The real serial of Dream Girl is 44-35423 and yes please do this one Kursad! 🙏 Decal companies have been ignoring these glass-nosed Korean War birds with great noseart for FAR too long!

Nice build! 👍

That's the one thing you can count on with 55th jets... constant change! 😄 Almost have to have period photos of a certain airframe and what timeframe you want to build it in. Those cheeks have definitely gained a few changes since the time I made them.

They need to downscale this one to 72nd! 😉

AFAIK, he was not married. Believe he had siblings though, as I recall him discussing nieces and nephews. Some of his stuff ended up with Air Graphic Models... the Milstar dome and the RC-135 cheeks for sure.

Hey Kursad, any plans to re-issue this sheet? (72nd)... or does anyone have the high-vis VMA-542 option they're not planning to use? 🙏 Was going through a bad divorce when the sheet was issued, so wasn't able to pick a copy up, due to more urgent matters. 😒

I knew there was something wrong with the SH kit as I built it, but just couldn't put my finger on it. The rear canopy and fuselage panel lines just seemed off-kilter. Had to have it though, as the local air museum has the real bird in the markings I built and it has just always fascinated me. Figured the slight imperfections were acceptable. 😉

1/144 Hobbycraft RB-47H-from the shelf of doom
J.C. Bahr replied to jonwinn's topic in In-Progress Pics
Arg, ALD-4 was part of the Silver King mods and not all H-models were upgraded to that status. One of the more recent newer B-47 books listed the serials that got the upgrade. To my knowledge Silver King included the small radome on the spine behind the wings and the blade antennas that stuck down out-board of the outer engine nacelles (besides the aforementioned ALD-4). Unfortunately most photos seem to be of Silver King birds from around the 1960-timeframe and forward... hard to find photos of ones from about pre-1960 without the mods. -
Curious myself.

Thanks for these Jonathan! 👍 -
Dang, glad I didn't know how "off" my kit was when I built it... might have never finished it! 😁
