  1. Chris is absolutely correct , the USAF HH-60W is a work in progress. Some of us hope that it is a MH-60M with USAF on the side having the same characteristics and capabilities as 160th birds, but who knows, USAF acquisition is not known for having its stuff in one bag
  2. Richard , Dude ,your father is former F-15/ F-16 driver and you live in Las Vegas , right down the road from the second largest helicopter rescue unit in the US Air Force and you have helicopter questions? PM me and lets see if we cant get you out to the base and get some helo pics in the hanger during the Xmas holidays. The least we can achieve is introducing you to some of the MX troops and let you see a bird up close, but anyway it is up to you. CC
  3. I will take this "DML AH-6J Little Bird “Night Stalkers” w/ Cobra Company MH-6 detail set, Fireball Modelworks 1/32 M-260 Rocket Pods $70 ' off your hands .
  4. Hey fellow rotor wing modelers , got a question or perhaps an idea as it were. I just purchased on EBAY , AFV CLUB AF35S13 1/35 scale S-70C Blue Hawk (Air Rescue Group). In the box is the ACADEMY UH-60L with a set of resin parts to convert it into the Singaporean S-70C. The resin parts include a LASS or similar support system for four external fuel tanks. After closer inspect , the LASS in the kit could be shorten to make a similar LASS used on the MH-60M DAP. My question is ...has anyone tried it? If so what were the pros and cons. Sorry there are no pics to illustrate my observations, but I
  5. well I got my MH-60S in the mail today from Korea , the decals are excellent , you and make one of three different birds HCS-9, HCS-21, HCS-28. The kit itself is same ole' Academy H-60 with and extra tree. So the unused parts will come in handy on the other H-60 kits lacking enough chaff and flare buckets. overall I am very pleased , going to buy a second one
  6. hey fellow rotor heads , just bought the new Academy MH-60S on Ebay for 69.00 free shipping. Sure it won't arrive before Oct 17 , but if the Lord is willing and the creek don't rise .. I have time to wait .
  7. There is an airshow at Miramar MCAS in October, whoever is going should be able to acquire some good pics
  8. Kevin, I will make you a counter offer you can not refuse. I ordered one on Ebay and awaiting its arrival, The decals are yours. Drop me an message with contact info CC
  9. "Building Plastic Model" by Richard Marmo. TAB BOOKS INC, Blue Ridge Summit , PA 17294-0850 I have the book in my collection. Hope this helps.
  10. wow totally incredible footage of 357
  11. I was able to purchase the Cutting Edge 1/48 scale C-130 AN/ARD-17 Cook Aerial Tracker Antenna Radome and the HC-130H Fulton nose many years ago. So the plan is to build a 1/48 scale rescue command and control ,aerial tanker HC-130H "King" aircraft. I am lacking pictures of the flare tubes located in the tail section. If any old school rescue Herk guy out there has some pics of this area to share I would be forever grateful. And with that same note, I also have a second set of the Cutting Edge conversions I willing to trade or sale. CC
  12. Check Ebay , there is a 1/35 scale AH-1J " Little Bird" opening bid 25.00 and no one has placed a bid yet. It is good for 4 days 23 hours. Good Luck
  13. wow that is an old school HH-60G pic circa 2005-2007 perhaps earlier. We changed that camo scheme in 2007+. That aircraft is from Patrick AFB,FL
  14. you know boys , if it was not for Warner Wings MH-47 conversion, the need for a CH-47D kit would have fallen by the way side. But it has for me created a new interest in both the CH-47A and CH-47D. I now own a couple. I would in fact even venture to say I would buy a 1/35 MH-53J/M or even MH-53E because it would be huge. and would make a nice statement at any model contest. So I say if we have any influence lets use it to create a need for the mighty 53 family. who's all with me !
  15. Aaron, you really know how to make a guy feel old. LOL , I was there at the Survival School , we were getting ready for a squadron cook out when we saw the bomber crash in the field next to the Survival School museum, between the road leading to our complex. So I got a first hand view. And sad to say I was also outside working with students at our signaling lab when I saw the KC-135 go down by the commissary and base ops. But the craziest of all, I was at the dental clinic across the street when the shooting started. Well I guess I am getting old
  16. Ah Fairchild AFB , I have some fond memories of the place starting with May 18,1980, continuing with a KC-135 crash , a hospital shooting , and ending with a B-52 crash , Oh yes some things you can never forget.
  17. Hey Chris , I noticed on the UH-60M conversion set has the new crew chief / gunner seats. These seats are also being retro fitted in the USAF HH-60G. Is there any plans to sale the seats and the associated base plates separate? If not , no harm , no foul just curious. CC
  18. Hey Matthew, the AH-6M parts are looking good, I bought the MH-6M conversions and love it. The problem I am experiencing, and I am sure I am not the only one, is that the AH-6J kits are becoming harder and harder to find , even on Ebay. The question is, are there any plans to include the extra rotor blade in your conversions kits in the future ? CC
  19. hey John, is there a good way to fix the bulge at the fuselage-to-tailboom join ?
  20. things are not quite clear yet my modeling friend. The block 152 pic displayed is a bit out of date if your goal is build the current HH-60G. www.airliners.net has some up to date pics of the HH-60G. What you will notice that differs from the block 152 pic is the repositioning of the nav / position lights behind a shroud located between the cable cutter and the front of the rotor mast as well as underneath both right and left sponsons. Also the latest pics will reveal the SADL antenna located half way down the tail boom. Heavy Arty was correct in suggesting the Cobra Company HH-60G upgrade ki
  21. you know guys , we have a fantastic MH-47E conversion in 1/35 on the market (in limited production) but damn few 1/35 scale CH-47D to be found , a pretty decent MH-47 in 1/72 a dime a dozen, however no one has made a conversion in 1/48 scale. I hope that in the deep dark caverns of some ones man cave they are plotting to prove me wrong.
  22. I have both kits Italeri MH-60K Blackhawk SOA no. 2666 and Academy /Minicraft USAF MH-60G Pave Hawk and I do believe in my humble opinion (of course ,we all have one as model builders) , the Italeri is the better kit when it comes to FE/ Gunner seats , transmission housing , associated antenna, sensors and the ability to build the "snoopy nose" HH-60G. It does lack the internal fuel tank, the choice of mini-guns or fifty cal option that you have in the Academy/ Minicraft kit. The both share their pros and cons. But if that is all you got then work with it. I do however agree with heavyarty, fr
  23. I mentioned this in another post awhile back, but the Department of the Navy did not like the idea of a USMC aircraft with the "CV" title which is designation for their carriers. So the Marines decided to call their new aircraft "MV" marine vertical lift -22. Well this left AFSOC with title of "CV"... I know , I know , it is contrary to the way DOD labels airframes, but someone threw tradition and common sense out the window.
