  1. not only the thunderbird museum but also the threat training facility aka petting zoo has some good stuff to ponder over.
  2. Italeri CH-47D has as an option the extended nose , the issue as stated earlier is the extra large fuel tanks. You would skillfully have to make them from scratch since no resin conversion exist yet ...hint hint. You know come to think of it , it would be nice to have a MH-47E/ F in 1/48 scale. I brought the conversion from Floyd to do it in 1/35 but dang it is huge and I truly have to remodel the house to find a place of honor for this beast.
  3. Well darn it , how can I ignore a fellow USAF brother, I got one here in my hobby room I can send you. Contact me via email ccrqw@aol.com
  4. Humm sounds like you might be building an HH-3 in your plans ? Google HH-3C and there are some old H-3 pics . I love the old HH-3 . got lots of time on them in Korea before the hawks replaced them Oh by the way I have the T.O. for the European paint scheme for the HH-3C. I can easily copy and scan it for you if you like.
  5. Well if you decide to build in 1/35 I do have an extra bike
  6. I second that thank you John , good reference material. I plan to use the DML 1:35 World's Elite Force Series U.S. Light Infantry motorcycle to mount on the right side of my MH-6J when I get around to this project. Once again heart felt thanks for the pics. CC :cheers:/>
  7. What was said about "M" stands for multi-mission or special mission ( ie. MH-53 , MC-130 )and "C" stands for cargo ( ie, CH-53, C-130) is true. I did get from a Navy friend of mine the story that certain high ranking naval officers were offended that a marine aircraft would carry the label of "CV" which is reserved for naval aircraft carriers, and fought adamantly to make sure it did not carry that identifier. So the marines decided , official DOD identifiers be damned, and would call this beast the MV-22 for marine vertical lift leaving the USAF to call their special operations aircraft CV-2
  8. wow now that is exciting news! thank you greatly appreciated
  9. Thanks for looking , greatly appreciated. I might just figure out how to attach them to the MH-60L diorama instead, or just place them strategically in the battle space. It is all good in modeling, we control the horizontal , we control the vertical :cheers:/>
  10. I was doing some research on a build of 160th helicopters and read that the MH-6J/M has provisions to carry motorcycles, one on each side. And I thought what a great diorama out of the norm...so the question is, does any one have pictures or can describe the configuration without getting into OPSEC issues?
  11. Well I have had good success on Ebay and equally good trading and buying here on ARC. Honestly I prefer to buy and trade amongst fellow modelers keeping it in the family , as it were. But sometimes not everything I need is offered in the forums , lets face it, as model builders we are also model hoarders. But I will use the forums first , and if I can not find what I seek in the forums , then I will scroll thru EBay.
  12. CH-47D on Ebay free shipping less than 100 dollars http://www.ebay.com/itm/Trumpeter-05105-1-35-CH-47D-CHINOOK-nib-/230862268290?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item35c076a782
  13. We jump out of perfectly good airplanes because they were built by the lowest bidder and we packed our own chutes ;-). Your ideas for your project sounds good , too bad it is in 1/72 and not 1/48 but just the same I am sure it will be fantastic.
  14. Yes correct Bob, I got carried away. thanks for watching my back bro.
  15. The original and subsequent re-releases and updates to the Revell HH-53C / CH-53 are the best base line models for the HH-53C of the Vietnam Conflict CSAR Task Force (CSARTF). One thing to note the interior is sparse at best which will give you plenty of elbow room for scratch building a decent interior with stokes litter , Forestry penetrator , mini-guns , and no less than two litters in the back.
  16. I have both the original HH-53C 1/48 scale kit from Revell and the Revell - Germany CH-53GS. In the first kit the square blades are suitable for the early MH-53H/J however with the CH-53GS box the blades are more suited for the MH-53M. But bottom line, that is the only kits in town available to covert to Pave Low glory :-)/ good luck and happy modeling. Oh on a second note, check out "Pave Cave" website for some additional MH-53 Pave Low data and pics if you have not already done so.
  17. Oh yes, good point, a couple of times I was able to change the shipping rate to a cheaper rate since it was not important to receive the model in two business days.
  18. Ah yes , almost forgot that part ;-) and happy holidays to you as well my modeling friend
  19. I just ordered two ;-) I am happy, got MH-6M , MH-47E, MH-60L all 1/35 scale. Now who is going to do a MH-60K conversion in 1/35 ? Then the circle will be complete. Any takers?
  20. Guys I do not know about the rest of you, but I have made some great buys on Ebay lately. I been searching for 1/72 scale HH-3C an out of production kit from Revelle or Aurora and wow got three in separate buys for as little as $10 each. I am excited. You got to shop around cause I noticed some other helicopter kits I wanted ranged from as little as $15 USD to $60 USD for the same kit. Long story short... I am happy camper ;-)
  21. Merry Christmas and the happiest of new year Chief Snake. Your contributions to the modeling community has been an inspiration to us all. May 2014 be even better !
  22. Ok got to jump in here for a moment to say or to correct the main stream media and all those who subscribe to it. They are not drones , but actually unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), or Remotely Piloted Vehicles (RPA), There is a really big difference between a drone and a MQ/RQ-1, 7, or 9. Just because you can drone around in the skies does not make you a drone. And that's all I got to say about that ;-) happy modeling

I do not have any good pics , it is getting harder for us to take pics at work , but the average person can sit outside the gate across the freeway with a zoom lens and get all kinds of photos we would never dare to take lol. But on another note , I checked on airliner.net and searched for HH-60G and there are some incredible pics of the bottom position lights.

the re-locating of the position lights was part of a NVIS upgrade. The USAF HH-60G program is in a constant state of upgrade to keep up with the challenges and demands of the every changing CSAR mission.
