  1. Glenmorangie 10-year, best bang for the buck in single malts.
  2. Maybe it's just me, but I don't find jokes about the downfall of a small and enthusiastic company to be very funny.
  3. Excellent post. Thank you for that.
  4. Thanks Andrea. And, looking at your avatar, I congratulate you on your excellent taste in rocket hardware. 😀
  5. F-14 ignoramus here... Could someone, uh, highlight the slime lights and explain what's wrong with them?
  6. Wow, these seem to be few and far between. Any leads would be much appreciated!
  7. That would be absolutely awesome.
  8. On this subject, I'm collecting opinions in "Tools n Tips." If you guys would reply to my post there, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, Patrick
  9. I'm talking about small panel-line details that differ between, say, two production runs of the same aircraft. For example, a small access hatch added to a previously blank panel. Would you prefer the kit manufacturer to mold the hatch into the panel, so that, if you want to omit it, you have to sand and fill the molded detail? Or would you rather the manufacturer leave the panel blank, but include instructions, or even a template, for you to inscribe in the missing detail yourself?
  10. Yes, the Trumpeter Flagon was... not a Flagon. Just always on the lookout for a new Su-15 kit!
  11. Mr Matt Foley, I'm pointing at you, doing the alien-scream like Donald Sutherland in Invasion of the Body Snatchers. ;) Ah well, to each his own!
  12. Apparently Juan does, and I want to find out what it is!! :) Like you Brad, I am Fascinated by the Flagon. I'd love to see a great kit.
  13. Hey Juan, can you elaborate on that???
  14. I think it's fair to remember that small companies like AMK are more likely to offer off-the-beaten-path subjects that Tamiya or Hasegawa would never go near. Also, AMK cares about accuracy and fidelity to the prototype, and listens to that small group of crazies that also cares. Some other "new entrants" can't be bothered--as they crank out substandard kit after kit.
  15. Ha I never got that before!! :)
  16. I'm curious, since the plane was 3d scanned, why these items are not to scale. Are you looking at drawings, photographs, a real plane...? As more kits are done with laser scanning, the issue of what constitutes the best documentation becomes more important. Used to, you picked a set of drawings that were supposedly accurate, and looked at photos to determine if a kit was good. But drawings are a secondary source, and photos have issues with angle, perspective, focal length, resolution, etc. While, *theoretically*, a 3d scan is "ground truth." Obviously there are issues
  17. Aha, see the last page of this article. http://www.airspacemag.com/history-of-flight/b-36-bomber-at-the-crossroads-134062323/?c=y&page=6
  18. I've read some stories about RB-36s operating so high that MiGs would stall out trying to get into firing position. 'Course, nukes might weigh more than cameras, lowering the max altitude. But I'd bet enough B-36s could have gotten through to make a pretty severe, uh, impact.
  19. Here is a great place to read about various airbrushes, including the two you are considering. I bought the Badger 155 just so I could refer to his site for help! https://sites.google.com/site/donsairbrushtips/
  20. Thanks Gabor. Do you have any more info, links etc. on the temp probe?
  21. Thanks Ken. As in the wiki, perhaps to power some cockpit instruments. Explains why there are a couple of them--backups!
  22. Got another one for ya... what are these tubes on the Su-15? http://photobucket.com/user/punder/media/su-15-thingus_zpsnpwo01zf.jpg.html
  23. Sorry I don't have a photo handy, but there are a couple of small T-shaped antennas on early Su-15 Flagons, on the fuselage underside. Anyone know what these are called, and what they are for? I'm guessing they are for ILS receiver, but just a guess. Any help much appreciated!
