  1. ZombieQueen, who works in a "bloodborne pathogens lab"... now that's kind of impressive, and also freaking me out. :) Nothing to add tools-wise, but I'll offer this important advice: be satisfied with imperfection! Otherwise you'll end up like me, with a closet full of half-built kits and not much completed to enjoy. A dark, Edgar Allan Poe sort of place. :) Finish your builds even when they have problems. A key principle.
  2. AMK, 1/48: Su-15 Flagon! Q-5 Fantan Yak-28RR (would love for AMK to tackle the Yak-28 family but probably not much chance if Xuntong's Yak-28P makes it to market)
  3. Bob, I sent you a PM. Hey, are you doing electric, gas, or (!!!) turbines???
  4. Martin, you enjoy this, don't you. :D/>/> OKAY how come my emoticons always end up with carriage returns and other peoples' don't!?!
  5. Have I told you lately that I really love your sig pic? :wub:/> A friend of mine, very experienced and talented modeler (unlike myself), just bought the AMK Magister and he was blown away by the quality.
  6. Ha, totally agree, great way to put it. Not getting your incredibly accurate and affordable MiG-31 kit until after Christmas is MOST DEFINITELY a "First-World" problem.
  7. Odd Rods were sort of a standard attachment... maybe there's a resin one out there somewhere. Or, saw it off an old Russian kit that's recently become obsolete. :D/> Edit, here is a PE set that includes multiple Odd Rods: https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/FHP48209 Although, the individual rods seem to be spaced a bit far apart. Maybe it's just me.
  8. Not to be too hard on them... I was really thrilled they did the F-94C, and I don't want to turn this into another KH-bash... but I can't help but wonder what those guys are thinking right now, as they read this thread. All the amazing and essentially free resources out there, if you just take the time to listen to the enthusiasts.
  9. Haha! It's NEVER too early for decal action!!
  10. I agree, if there is a foreign-operator scheme on the interceptor decal sheet, it should be Algerian. Beautiful roundel, interesting intake danger markings--they look almost like, dare I say it... shark mouths!
  11. Airfixer, what is this "practical aerodynamics" handbook and where can I get one?? And what's this about Algerian PD technical docs? How did you get ahold of this stuff? (Or would you have to kill me if you told me??) I too have only seen the 19.75 number (excluding pitot tube) but I also get a lot of google hits for 23.82m overall. (?) My refs agree, the PD/PDS radome was new but looks like the same shape (maybe to avoid any change to aerodynamics). An interesting fact--PDS (P rebuilds) far outnumbered new PD's. p.s. Love the sig. :rolleyes:/>
  12. Welcome AnKor, here is how to put pictures on ARC! Sign up with Photobucket.com. After you have uploaded your pictures to that site, you can click on a particular photo, which brings up a set of URLs on the right side of the screen. Click once on the bottom option--IMG--and the link is copied. Then just paste it into your message on ARC. The red arrow shows which option to click. I sympathize with you, because I have to translate Russian into English! Do you know if the MiG-25PD was longer than the original MiG-25P? (I think they were the same length but can't prove it.)
  13. Pretty sure they got the message already!
  14. There are pretty accurate kits of the Su-15 in 1/72, from Amodel and VES. Accurate enough for that scale, anyway. :D
  15. It was in the RB development section of the book, and said "The new version [MiG-25BM] had a 720-mm 'plug' inserted into the nose section to accommodate ECM and missile guidance equipment." So I'm pretty sure, given the context, he meant vs. the RB. Maybe he misinterpreted an internal change, perhaps to the layout of equipment bays in the nose. I have a weekend coming up so I can spend some time looking at more photos, but it seems the 720mm plug is getting more mythical by the moment.
  16. I'm just not seeing this 720mm plug in the nose of the MiG-25BM.
  17. I was told this thread was "wishlist free" but I could have sworn I saw something about the Su-15. Huh. I must be hallucinating. Or just having a beautiful dream. :woot.gif:/>
  18. Thank you Jim, that confirms my own experience. Again, that's a beautiful build. Really impressive. I'd seen it before but didn't remember it--glad Berkut did. About Yefim Gordon--He does get things wrong occasionally, and sometimes his, uh, biases show through... But if not for him, there would be a lot less information available on all that cool Russian hardware. So heck... Since I'm lifting a glass right now anyway--here's to Yefim Gordon!
  19. Well okay. Now I'm thinking three boxes since seeing Jim Barr's model: MiG-25P/PD/PDS MiG-25RBx (two noses, for original RB and whatever Red 38 is!) MiG-25BM (with one gray and one camo scheme; mostly the RB kit, just a new nose, pylons, missiles, instrument panels, lumps/bumps) Just thinking about the boxart(s) is making me happy.
  20. Wow, can you imagine that in 1/48. Martin and Sio, are you seeing this? :coolio:/> Sounds like he might be a good source of detail information too... I would really love to hear his opinion on Yefim Gordon's "720-mm plug" in the nose...
