  1. G'day people, I am after contact details for "Whirlybird" as I would like to build a Boeing 247 (Civilian CH-47E Chinook) in British Airways livery. Is ther a web address, web site etc that someone can point me in the direction of? cheers, Pappy
  2. G'day Spooky, Firstly, I should add that I am actually a "gunnie" or ordnance/ammo guy in the Royal Australoan Air Force (RAAF) and I work on F-111's so I am pretty familiar with the general priciples of countermeasures, as I work on ALE-40/47 myself. Thanks for the very complete answer, I really just wanted to know which bucket can go where on the A-10,as I am not familiar with that jet. We generally load alternate buckets ie one chaff, flare, chaff and flare on each side, thanks again Spooky, Pappy
  3. G'day people, I am nearing the end of my 1/48 Italeri A-10 build and I was wondering what colour to paint the chaff/flare magazines to depict loaded countermeasures. The buckets I have seen on other aircraft types seem to have red covers on the flares and white on the chaff expendables. When loaded to the A-10, how are these arranged ie all flares in one side, all chaff in the other for example, or do they alternate, ie a bucket of flares bext to a bucket of chaff etc. I realise that chaff and flares cannot be mixed within each magazine. cheers, Pappy
  4. G'day people, I need paint match for Luftwaffe silver grey as used on the underside of a Canadair Sabre Mk.6, I can use Humbrol, Testors or Gunze, cheers, Pappy
  5. Oh well, I guess the customer is always right (except when he isn't!), thanks for posting the build, Pappy
  6. Good to see one of these kits built up already. I have a question though. Both ailerons are in the positioned in the 'down' position. These controls normally operate differentially, ie when one goes up, the opposite aileron simultaneously moves down. Some aircraft are fitted with 'flaperpons' in which case, the ailerons can be drooped, but will still function differentially. Did the Wellington have flaperons? I didn't think it did, but I am prepared to be corrected by those 'in the know', cheers, Pappy
  7. G'day people, I am building the Revell boxing of the 1/48 Hasegawa A-7E kit. My question relates to the Inflight Re-Fuelling (IFR) probe with respect to the Hellenic Air Force (HAF) A-7H's. I realise that Greek A-7H's were not fitted with IFR probes and the position had a fairing fitted over the location. The instructions indicate that there are two tube like structures fitted, one on each side of the fuselage above the main wheel wells and below the wing. All the photo's I have seen have this ara obscured by shadow, stores etc. Do these tube structures (parts E-23& E24) belong an HAF
  8. That is good news indeed! Thanks for the info, Pappy
  9. G'day People, I am looking for the 1/48 Two Bobs SAAB Viggen sheet, thanks, Pappy
  10. G'day people, Here are some pics of my 1/48 Italeri UH-1N http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e66/Opsi...13Image0003.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e66/Opsi...13Image0020.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e66/Opsi...13Image0015.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e66/Opsi...05Image0017.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e66/Opsi...13Image0004.jpg I added a scratchbuilt pilot's gunsight as well as replacing the kit mini-guns with white metal items from Cobra Co., as well as making replacement rocket launcher racks http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e66/Opsi...03Image0041.jp
  11. Cheers Mike, No probs, glad you liked the pic, Pappy
  12. Cheers Grant! I have more pics but when I try to attach them I am told that I have breached my allowable size limit. How do I go about increasing my size limit? The pics are not huge (300kB) but I am only allowed 100kB. Do I have to change my settings or something? Can you tell I am a coplete computer numpty!! Pappy (PC challenged!)
  13. G'day people, Here is my completed Matchbox (Revell boxing) Wellington. It represents a 455SQN RAAF aircraft serving with RAF Coastal Command in Bone, Algeria, 1943. The aircraft was fitted withan ASV centimetric radar thatw as used to detect and find surface running subs. Once found, the aircraft would close on the sub and use the "Leigh" light to illuminate the sub for a final attack. Although torpedoes and depth charges were typically used, the aircraft couls also be fitted with 80lb rockets. The kit supplies the "Leigh" light fairing, but it is depicted retracted. I made the light from
  14. G'day people, Here is a pic of my completed Matchbox (Revell boxing) Wellington. It represents a 455SQN aircraft based in Bone, Algeria in 1943. Attached to RAF Coastal Command, Wellingtons were equipped with ASV centimetric radar to detect surface running U-boats at night. Creeping up on them using the radar, the "Leigh" light (named after WG CMDR Leigh, its inventor) would be used to pin-point the sub. Although depth charges and torpedoes were more commonly used, thsu unit also used 80lb rockets to puncture the submarine's ballast tanks, preventing the sub from diving. The kit mods includ
  15. G'day Ray! Amberley is well, erm, sunny!! Long time lurker here, but I am trying to figure out the ins and outs of posting on here!
  16. G'day, Here are some pics of my completed Wellington Sub-hunter. It represents a RAAF 455 SQN aircraft attached to Coastal Command during 1943, operating out of Bone, Algeria. I used the kit decals and added the underwing rockets (the rails were supplied) as well as the "Leigh Light" searchlight housing. The rigging is made from Ezy-line thread.
  17. G'day people, I chanced upon this group build by accident. Like many others, I cut my modelling 'teeth' as it were on these affordable Matchbox kits. I built a good many of their product line (including the 1/24 classic car kits), the majority being the 1/72 aircraft kits. I used to buy my kits from the local newsagent, as they kept a small but reasonably priced variety. After it became apparent that I was the main person buying the kits, the shop's manager just plain asked me what kits to order, as he knew I would buy them anyway!! Unfortunately, I was unable to source a 1/72 Matchbox k

  19. I did that first. It seems that Cobra Company is having problems with Australian customers. I do not know where the difficulty lies, nor do I wish to point the finger, but it seems strange that I have had no issues with other US or european firms, nor have any of the several Australian modellers I know. In any case, all i want are two decals so I can finish my chopper., cheers, Pappy
  20. G'day people, I have just about finished a 1/72 MH-47E Special Ops Chinook. I need some green "UNITED STATES ARMY" decals. I have ordered these from Cobra Company, but these have yet to materialise. They were ordered in December '05 and despite being airmailed, they have yet to arrive. Apparently, Australia Post is "unreliable", despite the fact that my Hannants, Squadron, Eduard and Meteor Productions stuff seems to arrive on time! Can someone spare me some decals I only need two! cheers, Pappy

    Auster T.7

G'day people, I am currently working on the 1/72 Airfix T.7 (AOP) kit. I want to add some sort of interior as the cockpit is very visible through the large glasshouse casnopy, and all the venerable old Airfix kit provides is a pilot and a lump of plastic, the radio gear perhaps? I need some cockpit pictures. The T.7 had dual controls. I am guessing the controls were dual sidewall mounted throttle quadrants and twin control columns (as opposed to 'yokes). cheers, Pappy
