  1. Well since I started this in November now, it's only fair to include December last year.
  2. As the holiday season soon is upon us, I think its time to look at what kits will fill the stockings this year. I know it's a bit premature to ask you to reflect upon 2011, but I have a personal motive as well - as my stash is quite big enough I only buy a kit per year until it becomes more manageable and usually when it's close to Christmas. I hope to get a few tips from this thread... Besides, most of the releases should be out by know as the industry also works on a holiday schedule. So, what kits have tickled your fancy this year? A Tamiya P-51 or a AZ Models Tunnan or something from Win
  3. My Matchbox Walrus did NOT have all those parts! Great work.
  4. Just a note on the "unconcievable!" replies: When I buy books from Amazon (co.uk) here in Sweden, Amazon collect Swedish sales tax (VAT) and forward that to the correct authorities. They have to do that, by law, when their total sales to a country within EU exceeds a certain amount (about $30 00, if I remember correctly). The concept shouldn't therefore be something new for Amazon.
  5. Missed this one, sorry! We only have ground forces in Afghanistan.
  6. And like the dutch, we in Sweden have also a substantial Afghanistan presence, including shooting at stuff. It's just that the UN resolution is not crystal clear about the mandate. The foreign presence in Libya is supposed to protect civilians, not act as a support force for the rebels. I have personally no problem with that, but it's politically sensitive. I understand the need for caution here, as any alternative government set up by the rebels has to be seen as legitimate, and not US/NATO/UN puppets.
  7. Tuesday morning, European time, NATO issued a formal question if Sweden was willing to participate. A few hours ago, the answer from the Swedish government came - we're sending eight Gripens and one Hercules for transports. They will not attack ground targets, only help enforce the no-fly zone.
  8. Gripen. And previous generations of SAAB fighters were called Lansen, Draken and Viggen. Only one double consonant among them! (Sorry - my sole purpose in life is to correct misspellings of Swedish planes. Someone has to do it, and it's a full time job sometimes! ) About showcasing aircraft - no, it's simply that the international community (and it should be an international effort) use what they have.
  9. http://bit.ly/hZZ2YE I think that is the video you've seen, it fits the description. Filmed at ground level, it shows very clearly how fast the water rises and how it would be very difficult to stay alive if caught on ground level. There is so much debris hurled around at high speed, anyone trying to swim or float would be knocked out in seconds. And this is a bit inland - its not the massive wave hitting the shores that we've seen on video a few times, it shows how the water continue to rush inland and rise.
  10. Well I got footage of Alistair for you! http://www.proton.com/Motorsports/Proton-M...Rally-Team.aspx . As you perhaps remember it was those Proton cars they used in the challenge and using Alistair would be convenient. I've got no proof more than that! Alistair probably isn't new Stig though, I'm not claiming that. Just Rally Stig.
  11. As they were driving Proton rally cars, I'm 97% certain that it was Alistair McRae in a white helmet that was driving that car. Haven't seen any confirmation (or indeed looked for one), was just my initial assumption. Quite possibly the australian car was driven by Protons aussie driver for that passing scene. And regarding the Zonda R, what Clarkson said was that it would break MANY of the noise regulations imposed on tracks in Britain (presumably not the ones doing drag racing). They never claimed it is outright "track illegal". Top Gear rarely tell outright lies but they exaggerate wheneve
  12. And we hear you, loud and clear.
  13. It sounds like quite a few of you use your liquid cement the wrong way. Every one of these be it Tamiya or Tenax, should be used AFTER you put the parts together. Hold them together, use a brush of some sort and put a bead of the liquid cement on the seam. If should flow along. Give the parts a extra squeeze and you should have a near instant and almost invisible bond, with a bit of wiggle room for a minute.
  14. I'd love to take part! As all my stuff is still in storage, I thought of something else to contribute - if I win, I pledge to donate the kit value to charity.
  15. Thank you guys for the comforting words! When I heard there had been no heating I was cool(!) at first, since I figured everything there was tolerant to cold temperatures. Then I thought of the paint... 2½ month left, then we move into our newly bought house and I will FINALLY be able to model again.
