Aviation modeling mostly subjects before 1945 in 1/72 scale
  1. I would recommend the MAC model in1/72 scale, it is a good modern short run kit. The old Airfix one got an overdone fabric representation on the wing, but is otherwise a decent model. I think you may find a Pegasus kit as well, but I do not know it, apart it is an older short run kit. Denis
  2. I am afraid this is the case... http://www.jetphotos.net/photo/7909872 Denis
  3. Here is a full scratch build model, in 1/72 scale, of a rarely seen subject: the Nieuport Sesquiplan. Two racers aircrafts were built. They used the moulded fuselage of the biplane NiD29 fighter, the sesquiplane name came from the small interwheel surface, also used for structural reinforcement in subsequent Nieuport aircrafts. One won the 1921 coupe Deutsch de la Meurthe at 278 km/h (172mph) mean speed, then after extensive modifications, established a new speed record at 375 km/h (233mph) in 1923. I made a model of the coupe Deutsch winner, 1921 configuration. Documentation is rare, t
  4. Just as everybody else, I am stuck, this is astonishing, amazing, ...and I will run out of superlatives... Just a question, what kind of wood do you use for such a small construction ? Denis
  5. A walkaround of the restaured DH88 with lots of details : http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/1003/lasermonkey/DH%2088%20Comet/?start=all\ Denis
  6. Wow !!! That a proper way of making a master for resin parts... (i am dreaming of that... hand made masters are messy !) Your skills in machining are awesome Denis
  7. Hi again, check this : http://www.hydroretro.net/etudegh/moteursaviationlorraine.pdf The Algol 9NA should have the same cylinders as the Mizar... unfortunately no photo. Also ask on french forum for historians http://www.aerostories.org/~aeroforums/forumtech/ I do not know any photo of this engine... Denis
  8. Mail sent! This guy is a colorful one ... will make a nice model ! Do not forget to post photos when it is done ! ;-)
  9. Hi, zishelix, I have an old article in french from the Fanatique de l'Aviation on the Farman 300 series, dating from the No4 and 5 issues of the magazine ca 1970... there is no drawing, pics in B/W, but I have a drawing of the F 306 with colors of the yougoslav company Aeroput. Just need your mail address... Denis
  10. Hi Flypaper and all, I am afraid you confuse with the the Morane Saulnier 225 fighter, resembling but very different design. The Heller kit is actually one of their worse failures ....There were articles in Le Fana de l'Aviation describing the issues you indicate. The MS230 is a nice kit with the usual defects of his period, but is a good rendition of the trainer. Denis
  11. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_Jupiter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_Mercury http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_Pegasus The Jupiter is quite different from the others IMHO. The Mercury is merely a short stroke Pegasus... Hope this helps Denis
  12. Hi, I do not have the answer, but try to ask here : http://www.aerostories.org/~aeroforums/forumnav/ there are a few specialists of french Aeronavale there... Denis
  13. I am also very happy with the stuff I bought, scriber, various saws and rivet tools, they are very good quality tools! Denis
  14. Hi Douglas ! you are a brave amongst the braves !!! Some other brave (a frenchie...) did an amazing job on that oldie , if you dare reading french, you may find the thread here : http://fighters.forumactif.com/vos-montage...ghlight=defiant The pictures should be a help anyway... The guy did not notice the top cowling problem at first, he corrected it later in the build. Good luck.... Denis
  15. Azur now makes a Nieuport 29, with export japanese, belgian , etc.. versions. AZ announces a series of Avia 534, different variants... probably much better than the KP. Aeroclub made some rare biplanes, some are rendered obsolete by new issues from AZ and others, but others are still unique, such as the Fairey Firefly II M ( biplane, not the WW2 monoplane !) Denis
