  1. I don't think so, because that photo: shows the previously-announced Aerotech Shinden, and all of the kits that Aerotech has released to date have been resin. Charles Metz
  2. "Ironwing" is doing precisely that over at LSP, Mark; you might want to take a look here. Charles Metz

  4. Trumpeter has announced three 1/32-scale F8F kits: an F8F-1, an F8F-1B and an F8F-2. To see their listings on Stevens International's website: -- click here; -- type "Trumpeter" and 'F8F" into the "Brand" and "Description" search boxes, respectively; and then -- click "Search." Charles Metz

Here's one source that indicates that wooden Luftwaffe props were RLM 71: http://www.swannysmodels.com/Painting.html Charles Metz

The general consensus is that all (dare I say it?) metal propellers on Luftwaffe aircraft were painted RLM 70 black-green. I've read that wooden propellers on Luftwaffe aircraft were painted RLM 71 dark green, but I've read also an assertion that this wasn't always, or ever, true -- and unfortunately I'm far too busy now to dig through my references. I'd recommend RLM 70 as the conservative choice for all Luftwaffe props, or 71 if you know the prop(s) on a particular aircraft to have been wooden and you're in an adventuresome mood. A contest judge might challenge you either way, so pick whi
  7. modelman, My approach is described here. Charles Metz
  8. I've always been thoroughly satisfied in my dealings with HobbyLink Japan. All of the Hasegawa scribing and riveting tools in their catalog can be found here. Charles Metz
  9. Ron, I shall assume that you asked this from a practical rather than philosophical perspective. ;) 21st Century has produced for several years a variety of 1/18-scale and 1/32-scale built, painted and reasonablly accurate plastic aircraft with some working features (e.g., retractable landing gear) that can be thought of as either realistic toys or pre-built models. However, the company recently began to release some of their 1/32-scale subjects -- the A6M2 Zero, Macchi C.202, Messerschmitt Bf 109 F, F4U-1-A/D Corsair and Ju 87 B/R Stuka, so far -- also in unassembled, unpainted form, an
  10. I use a variety of scribing tools, depending on the situation; my approach can be found here. Charles Metz
  11. Phil, By chance, there's an active thread on the CollectAire T-28 over at Large Scale Planes right now; clicking here will take you to it. Charles Metz
  12. Bob, One source of Wirraway multi-view drawings and other detail is: Zbiegniewski and Nowiki: 'CAC Boomerang, CAC Wirraway' (Wydawnictwo Militaria series, No. 43; Militaria [Poland], 1997; in Polish; 58 pages) -- AIRCRAFT TYPES INCLUDED: Boomerang, Wirraway; COCKPIT DETAIL: CA-12 Boomerang (p. 26, 27); MISCELLANEOUS DETAIL: CA-1 Wirraway I engine bay (p. 37); CA-9 Wirraway II fuselage structure (p. 49); CA-12 Boomerang fuselage structure (p. 26); CA-14 Boomerang fuselage structure & supercharger installation (p. 14); MULTI-VIEW DRAWINGS: CA-1 Wirraway I (p. 40, 41); CA-12 / CA-1
  13. José,FYI, the Alllies' code name for the J2M was "Jack" rather than "Jake." However, a Google Images search didn't produce any cockpit photos for me even when I used the correct name. Charles Metz
  14. Javlin, I'm told by a person who reads Japanese that the new Ki-61 will sell for 4200 Yen in Japan, which is equivalent to US$34.68 at today's exchange rate. That 4200 Yen is the same domestic price as most of Hasegawa's 1/32 Bf 109 and Fw 190 kits [e.g., see here], and those kits retail for $35 to $45 here in the USA [e.g., see here]. Charles Metz
  15. Les, The Hyperscale discussion thread that you'll find if you click here includes a color profile painting that shows the aircraft in question to have been yellow overall. As far as I know -- or anyone else knows, apparently -- no photos exist. Charles Metz EDIT: Sorry for bothering you with this, Les; if I had been paying attention, I'd have noticed that you started the Hyperscale thread!
