  1. I'd been putting off the seat for ages..because of the amount of PE belts.... I really dislike the PE belts but the only resin seats I had was a Pavla one and it was far to large.. Eventually I had to bite the bullet. I left of 2 small belts (I know Bruce) that sat on the seat pan, but as far as I was concerned it was busy enough. A bit of a wash and dry brush, along with decals from the kit decal sheet (which BTW aren't mentioned in the instructions), along with a bit of swearing, and I was happy with the final result. The seat sits on a plastic plinth on the cockoit
  2. I bought some aftermarket blades for mine which are cheaper and have different angles on the blade. These differing angles are supposed to be better for different materials and size of cutting. Can't remember where I found the info on the blades but a google search will find it
  3. I did it years ago. I had no trouble then or now using it
  4. Another user of Sihouette Portrait cutter. I've used it to cut Tamiya/Gunze sheets, masking film and Cheap A-4 self adhesive label paper. The supplied software has been fine for what I've done so far. I've used it to cut 1/48 RAF roundels and code numbers. I've experimented with cutting little rectangles with dimensions 1mm to 2mm for no step lines. All the main markings and serial numbers in this were cut using the Sihouette Portrait, I used masking film for these The rear serials on the Jag were also done on the Sihouette Portrait
  5. As usual, after a few weeks away from the bench, it took a while to get back into it. Whilst on my holiday I'd been following Pappy's build online which showed me a few things I'd overlooked. So I spent some time fixing some of those. First off it's was fitting the wingtip position lights (thanks Jonners at BM) . Fit of these was fairly good. I used this new glue to secure these. You may have seen it on TV, you apply the glue and it doesn't set until you shine a UV light on it, at that point it dries clear and hard. I can see a few uses for this in the hobby. As I
  6. I dry fitted the exhausts last night onto the swivel mechanism and they were a click fit... but boy did it require a lot of pressure to get on. Consequently they were quite difficult to remove, but I did manage it without damaging them or the kit. Note, I didn't have the rear fuselage heat shields fitted , I expect that this will make more difficult to fit/remove the exhausts. My swivel mechanism didn't work particularly well with them fitted, mind you it didn't work that well when they weren't either . I'd suggest leaving them out, that's what I will do if I build anot
  7. I left the linkages in, and I haven't test fitted them as yet (not even painted, I've been away for 3 weeks and have only just got back to the bench). I did read one build over at BM where the person had trouble fitting the nozzles to the linkages..... IIRC it was a FA.2 but the assembly is the same. Like you I'm not interested in the moving nozzles, I'll probably secure mine in place when done. Hopefully The nozzles will fit OK otherwise I'll push them inside the model :D. I did end up with a step of 1-1.5mm under the wing between the wing piece and fuselage. But it looked even al
  8. nice work all, particularly like the sabre
  9. Nice work, you don't see that scheme modelled often
  10. I do like that decal option
  11. I had the same issue with the trailing edge, unfortunately I didn't notice until glue had set because I was worried about the front join. Hence I had to sand the high bits down, I didn't strike the gap on the underside though
  12. Ah ok, that's on the SH-2G(I) as well. It does look ECS like. Whatever is coming out looks like it's hot. Hpefully someone will get some inside shots of the SH-2G(I) at the RNZAF Airshow this year.
  13. Pappy, I really wish you'd started before me :D You've picked up so many things I've missed.
  14. Pappy The SH-2G(NZ) is (were) original G models bought by the RNZN (they had SH-2F's for a while before that also). These were effectively standard SH-G with a few minor mods (glass AI/flight director instead of analogue and AGM-65 Maverick capabilty. They have now been replaced by the SH-2G(I) which were the RAN SH-2G(A) frames. Externally , from what I've seen the SH-2G(I) , and SH-2G(A) look identical. I don't recall an APU exhaust on the top of the tail boom of the SH-2G(A) , the APU exhaust on the SH-2G(A) / (I) looks to be in the same place as the SH-2G(NZ) and h
  15. Gun pods are on, fit here is good but they are lacking in quite a bit of detail (as I've since found out after seeing Pappy's build ). I got a bit carried away spot priming and ended up painting the whole model. The Mr Color Extra Dark sea grey from the bottle was way to dark. So after a few more lighter coats I ended up with something that looks OK to me.I then reapplied some darker and light splotches to try and break up the monotone... I find single colour paint jobs can be difficult to get so they don't look toylike. I was worried about he panel line
  16. The cockpit on that one is not the SH-2G(A) configuration, it's the original SH-2G(NZ) fit. The sensos rack, I assume has been removed so the aircraft can be used in a utility role. The RNZN now have 10 of the 11 SH-2G(A)'s, now called SH-2G(I) . Externally the SH-2G(I) looks the same as the SH-2G(A) but I haven't seen inside one to see what they did to the cockpit to resolve the issues the RAN had.
  17. I fitted mine at the beginning after painting the intakes and face separately so I'm good :D
  18. Probably to late for the interior stuff but here's a walkaround (not mine) of a Kiwi SH-2G(NZ). Not sure how much they differ from the Polish ones but I'd expect much of it is similar. http://s1233.photobucket.com/user/pgarmonsway/library/Seasprite?sort=3&page=1
  19. That's pretty cool. Well done
  20. Good stuff.. I've been on holiday for the past 3 weeks so I've done nothing (all my photos were taken in prior to Dec 17, I just never got around to doing the posts) ... I've learnt a bit from Pappy's build which means I have some things I want to fix up on mine (the gun pods being one) .So now I'm hoping you and Pappy can take the lead and I can learn from your mistakes :D I notice neither of you guys fitted the engine face. Any particular reason for that?
