  1. Fwoar! I like your Viper a lot, the Euro-style camo really suits them, and is an interesting take on what might have been if Ms Clarke and her know-it-all sycophants hadn't axed the deal.

I tend to think that they'd have gone to either a two-tone or single colour gray, a bit like what they've done with the Herc's and Iroquois, or even o/a dark green like the final Scooter scheme but heck, I think it looks much more interesting in this scheme.

    Cheers from NZ

    Mike A

    Hi Mike

Well since they were the ex pakistni aircraft they would have come in that scheme which is a little different (and IMHO nicer) than the USAF grey.

I've got one Tamyias new F-16CJ's on order. That will be a 75 Sqn aircraft. (I'm thinking of another what if, along the lines of The RNZAF traded up to CJ in a few years time :) )

Can't decide whether it will be the dark gray like the C-130/Huey/P-3 fleet or all green like the last A-4 Scheme.

need to think on it more :-)

  2. I really like your model, but your website crashes Firefox and, when I use IE to view it, all kinds of crap starts d/l'ing to my PC... MSWord profiles, numerically named .exe and .txt files... makes me very nervous. :)

Hi, website wseems to work fine for me with FF adn IE. Checkd on several PC's both here and work. Might be something with your system? :)

Thanks to all for the kind comments

  3. Don't you hate it when you stumble across the answer to own question :nanner:

A member of NZ aviation forum I frequent has a bit of an interest in Kain. He sent me the answer to this about 6 months ago.

Anyway after his research he's sure that Paddy III (the aircraft in aeromaster sheet) was an early rag-wing Hurricane I with the Watts 2 bladed wooden prop.

now I know why I bought tha CA Fabric Winged Hurricane

  4. Thanks for the picture Paolo! The castings seems to be very good. How is the surface detail and scribing?

I can´t find this conversion at Kiwi Resins web site. Did you order it directly anyway?

    Cheers

    martin

Just email Dave direct form his web site and ask. It goes for about $60 NZD, plus post.

The example I saw had very fine lines. I think they'll need deepening up but the casting itself seemed pretty good. The Join is where the fuselage breaks when you're doing an engine changewhich should make it easier to attach to the existing kit fuselage

  5. IIRC Kiwi Resins from NZ are working on a TA-4 conversion.

Kiwi resins one is out. There was a review/announce here a few week back

    ARC article

    Kiwi Resins

I've seen it and it looks alright. The join is in a handy place. You'll need to deepen the panel lines though as they quite shallow.

The Kahu instrument panel isn't as good as I'd hoped though. The instruments are out of scale.

  6. if it was me....

For the wing formation lights I'd leave them clear, or clear with silver or white on the wing mating surface. Same for the tail light. The only thing in there is a fluro tune. You can see it some of the pics on my site.

Oh, Yeah I know there is a glaring error on the wing..... You'd think that working on them for 5 or so years I'd have noticed when I was building it. <_<

But in my defence It was about 4th model I'd built since I got back into it.

  7. The clear strip is the tail postion light as David pointed out

The clear part does contain a light, from memory its a fluro type tube. Again from memory The red and green parts are lenses with a normal incandesent light bulb in there. (it's been 13 or so years since I last worked on A-4's so I'm ot 100% sure)

For Kiwi and Aussie A-4s inclduing some walkaround shots (theres some close ups of the wing formation lights), check out my web site here

  8. Thanks All

The floor polish/food colouring idea is a beauty

After a bit of stuffing around here what I came up with.

    F-16B-Canopy.jpg

Now how does this mixture hold up to masking? And how long before I can mask up and repaint the canopy frames?

  9. OK F-16 gurus I need some advice on F-16B canopy colours

I've nearly finished my F-16B. I originally painted the canopy as the instructions. Ie Front 1/2 Smoke, rear 1/2 clear. But to much time under the tape ruined the front half so I've stripped it back and re-coated with floor polish

I've done a quick google and there seem to be several variations in colours.eg. All clear, 1/2 smoke 1/2 clear, all smoke, all smoke wiht gold tinge, front half smoke, rear smoky gold (could be the light)..etc etc

I'd prefer to do the canopy all one tint. EG smoke or smoke/gold.

Anyone see any problems with this approach?

Or anyone have any details on F-16B canopy tints, like why so many different shades. I'm assuming the coloured ones can be retrofitted to earlier aircraft.

Oh, the aircraft is a what could have been or what if. 2 Sqn RNZAF F-16B

Yeah I know they were going to be the ex Pakistani ones and I know they were very likely coming wiht the original Pakistani camouflage but I wanted to do something a little different. :o

  10. What are peoples recommendations for the AIM-9L seeker head. The colour looks to me to be a metallic olive drab.

I'm about to try a mixture of Humrol 53 and a selection greens. But if anyone has a beeter suggestion, then speak up

Also any ideas on the the blue used for practice or inert weapons, eg CATM's, MK 106's BDU-33's and like
