  1. Best Jug I've ever seen Those RAAF roundels look great on NMF Dont know how you did it, but you managed to make a P47 look pretty!
  2. what do you guys use to clean an airbrush after spraying future? Do i need a laquer thinner or will something like rubbing alcohol or windex do the trick? r
  3. have you tried a grey wash? Its an interesting effect; a lot more subtle than if you use umber or black. You can buy a bottle of very inexpensive light gray, reefer white, etc, watercolor paint (e.g. Folk Art Brand) and water it out as in a wash.
  4. i had a tube of their white putty once. it was pretty awful. It fell off the plastic once it dried I'd say go with the squadron green putty. Its not perfect, but you get a lot of bang for your buck. Its also easy to find, at least around here r

    Next project...

Wally, I'm about a week or so from finishing my beaufighter. The kit goes together really well. True the trimtab actuators are wrong, but i dont care. The nicest thing about this kit is the way the gear wells are engineered. I like how you can stick the whole landing gear into the well, paint it, detail it, etc, BEFORE you put the well inside the model. Real nice touch. The only putty i used was near the filters (or whatever the small inlets on thw wings outbord of the motors are), where the piece attaches to the wing. Although this may have been a self induced fit problem. I was bei
  6. thanks chorse do you disassemble the gizmos by the flow knob(parts VL-175 in the instructions) and springs and coils aft of the main body? i mean, do they need to come out to remove the needle? This brush has lots of small parts and i really dont want to pull it appart too much w/o knowing if things will come falling out that i cant put back in later thanks again for the heads up though. I undercoated my 1/48 beaufighter and corsair today and it was a real pleasure to work with this brush.. I still need some practice w/ fine line camo though, having been spoiled by the specialized nozzles
  7. if you're using acrylics than have a small tub of rubbing alcohol ready while painting. Dip a cotton swab in it and gently rub the needle a bit. With enamels dip a needle in some thinner and do the same. Keep the thinner under lock and seal thought when not using it. If you're talking about dried paint on an airbrush thats not in use, you'll need to pull the needle out and dip it in laquer and gently wipe it down hope that helps r
  8. Hello gang, Having become fed up with my Aztek  I switched over and purchased a Pasche VL today. (my already stretched hobby budget wont allow for one of dem fancy hiawathas or whatever). Anyways, since I want to start off right and not mess this brush up Im wondering if any of you have used this model and if you can provide a guide for maintainance as the instructions are a bit vague. This has probably been posted already somewhere so a point in the right direction would be fine as well. Also if there are any quirks or other miscilany that I should be aware of, please let me kn
  9. polly scale flat coat is FABU ;) but it will pool and white up if you lay it on too thick. This may be what happened with the product you used. Cut the clear with some thinner and apply 2 or 3 fine coats. r
  10. it doesn't streak or create a different texture from the rest of the model? please explain how you do this. I tried it once with just regular ol' clear coat and the results looked, well, bad r
  11. another word of advice. Dont waste your money on the red nozzle. ITs supposed to be for thinned acryls. Has a plastic needle, which is a joke. Mine worked for about 6 minutes (no exageration) after that it began to spit paint. Took it apart to clean it and now it wont even spray water. I loose more faith in testors products each day. Funny, when i started building most of the tools and models I owned were from testors. Seeing those yellow sided boxes make me so nostalgic, but no! I've been hoodwinked by this company enough times r ;)
