  1. Heya! This thread will document my build of a set of F/A-18 kits in Canadian and/or Australian markings. The first kit will be the recently released Kinetic F/A-18 A/B in 1/48. I'm still hemming and hawing about markings and even version. Either a CF-188B from the box (I'm not a fan of Lo-viz markings, but with wings folded and stuff opened up, it might look interesting enough) or the red tailed Australian demo plane, also from the box. I haven't decided on the second kit yet. The Hobby Boss Australian hornet seems like a logical choice, but I'm also kind of toying around with gett
  2. Good job getting this off the ground, Kurt.
  3. It is true that they don't stock as much 1/72 aftermarket items as they once did. Maybe there are less takers? Im not saying any of that 1/72 is a dying scale bs, but if more of the old.guys with $$$ to throw at resin are building in 1/32 these days, then it makes business sense to spend limited space on more of those items.
  4. I would really like to see a mainstream manufacturer tackle the Firefly mk V in 1/48 and 1/72. The Special Hobby kits build up nicely, but they're a chore. A Bristol Beaufort in 1/48 I'd be very happy if Airfix did a 1/48 Hurricane IIc and d A 1/48 and 1/72 Battle I
  5. Yes to the chipmunk and two yeses to the Canuck. The Hobbycraft is so disappointing.
  6. FB groups have their place - but like you, I prefer the threaded and more elegantly archived nature of forums. The ARC FB is fairly active in the sense that you get a bunch of people posting builds and others responding with "likes". There's conversation too. Sometimes entertaining, like when some toxic man-child threatened to beat somebody up because the other guy didn't think like Eduard kits as much as he did, or something idiotic like that. 😄 I miss the days of when this forum was buzzing with activity.
  7. Its too bad how group builds have turned into the red-headed stepchild on this site. They used to be so much fun before the mass exodus to the FB page. Which is not Steve's fault or his problem. Its kind of on all of us.

  9. Looks like I might have to pony up that $75+ for the out of print Leading Edge sheet if I want to build a Canadian showbird hornet. I just can't reconcile paying more for decals than I did for the model :)
  10. Nice! He doesn't have what I'm after at the moment, but I know where to turn to when I get around to building a tutor! Good deal!

    Ooo!! Awesome uggo! Sharp work.
  12. I'm not sure which forum to place this in, but this seems fine. I'm searching around for some colorful CF-188 decals in 1/48, but the only ones I can see for sale online are from Leading Edge. And since all but a few are sold out, the asking prices are pretty high, even for second-hand. Are there any alternative manufacturers?
  13. I don't know how I missed these? I even went to the page, but left before scrolling down to see the pics. Thanks, Gregg and GW8345
  14. A'ight then. A Kickin' Stabbin' Kingfisher Kerfuffle, there shall be! :)
  15. Fantastic idea! Would you allow crossing scale boundaries? I'm thinking Monogram's ancient 1/48 Kingfisher vs. Kittyhawk 1/32 Kingfisher
  16. Where the hell will I put it?
  17. Hi all, I found a great decal sheet for the CAG's F/A-18A from VFA-113 when they were aboard USS Constellation in 1985. I've searched all over the web for pictures of the real bird, but can't find anything. The only thing I saw is a similar set of markings from a much more recent the cruise on Abe Lincoln. Can any of you point me in the right direction? I'm really curious to see what the real aricraft looked like, and what the degree of weathering would have been on a relatively new F-18 in the mid-1980s.
  18. Nice job. How do you do the white gaskets around the glass?
  19. You did a nice job on this. I tried this kit years ago and fsiled. Did you replace the glass parts? If I recall, they didn't fit.
  20. One of my favorite models. No, I'm serious! It's a neat little kit, is fun to build and has many unique variants.
  21. Or just get a smug mug subscription. Cheap as dirt and you wont have to worry about the rug being pulled out from under you (or your pics).
  22. top notch work, as always. I love watching you create.
  23. I'm really sorry to hear that 😞 I hope you can get treatment for whatever is ailing you.
