  1. I think the washes brought things together nicely. It looks really great! Nice touch with the pink fiberglass inaulation, and I love the exhausts. What paint did you use?
  2. Goodness! That is cool! I'm surprised there aren't more responses. Your marbling may have a bit too much contrast on the tails, for my taste, but I imagine the wash will knock things down. I love the Ukrainian markings on this beast. They're such a great splash of color against the gray. It is too bad they didn't cooperate very well. You're doing a really great job. Thank also, very much, for the pointers on how to fit the fuselage. This model is on my short list for next purchase, so it's good to know what to expect.
  3. Thank you, sir! The radome starts about 19 mm ahead of the first vertical panel line (not the slanted line where the nose cone attaches, but the one right behind it. I know that isn't great help, but place some pencil marks 19 mm ahead of the line around the cone, and it will give you something of a rough guide.

  5. You ask him to turn on his badge. AND his gun, Maclosky!
  6. Welcome back, Andy. I was recently wondering what ever became of the guys who were here back when I first started showing up. That purple sombrero brings back memories.
  7. hey, thanks guys. I can't wait to finish my house move, so I can dig back into this project.
  8. I'm not sure if its kosher to post WIPs that are in external blogs, on here. If not, then please delete, mods. In the meantime. Those who want to see yet another Tamiya tomcat being built, can follow along on my blog. I'm about 75% of the way through. Here are a few highlights. Please leave comments and constructive criticisms. Here is the link https://wordpress.com/view/rkicbuilds.wordpress.com If the mods allow me to keep this thread running, I'll post subsequent updates here.
  9. I got the kit second hand from somebody on ARC. The resin bits were in the box. I was pleasantly surprised.
  10. That might be easier if I owned one.
  11. yes, the skyhawk. The F-14 is turning out very nicely too. Saw it on smcg earlier.
  12. Can somebody point me to a reference that shows panels on the sides of the fuselage for these birds? I've finally finished getting rid of the steps between the two halves, and now its time to add some surface details.
  13. dang. I almost got this kit on an online sale, and passed it up. Should have gone for it, it looks nice.
  14. Contact them via PM on their Facebook page. They're very accessable
  15. To you guys who build in 1/32. How do you display the really big stuff, like 32nd Jets?
  16. This is a fun question. Unlike many, I got started in modeling with 1/35 Tamiya/Italeri and 1/32 Monogram tanks. This was when I was about nine. 1/35 is still my preferred armor scale, to this day. When I started building aircraft around age 12, I built 1/48, because Monogram kits were the most affordable and readily available. You could walk into a toy store and find a well stocked aisle. How I miss those days! I switched to 1/72 in my teens, because...well...I'm not sure why. My modeling friends built in 1/72, and we would trade kit parts and decals and wh
  17. The tapatalk platform may be leading many to "wave" goodbye to the forums. I didn't like the old hyperscale format, but the software used by Modeling Madness and 72nd Aircraft were just great. Then Tapatalk was foisted upon them. There's just something buggy and not quite 100% about it.
  18. In search of Desert Strom era F-14A+/B decals for VF-74. The set that came with Hasegawa's original release of the F-14A+ kit would be fine. Or aftermarket, if any exist. Please PM to name your price. I do paypal.
  19. Those of us who do history for a living, have much better things to worry about than some stupid flying saucer toy.
  20. I wasn't, until you said that! :) No, I have a 1/72 Hasegawa F-14B that has decals for a vf-103 Santa Bones bird, but it only gives you parts for the fish-bowl RIO IP. So rather than trying to screw around with a new IP, I figure I'll back date it to a pre-lantirn B. But I'll need to track down some decals.
