  1. In that first picture, they seem to have used a yellow zinc chromate color for touch ups. I've seen other Phantoms during the war having that as well. I've always wanted to do one. They look so odd.
  2. Here's the one at the Combat Air Museum. It's a repaint, but they did a pretty accurate job on it. Scroll down for a picture of the fin cap. F-4 fin cap color
  3. Oooh, that might give the F-14 a run for its money. Now, if the picture had been of the 49th FIS Green Eagles, I would have gone all in.
  4. Dude, you rock! Of course the only real answer is the F-14 Tomcat. Case closed. 😄
  5. Not being in the military, what does that mean on a practical level? From a civilian's perspective, will it be as if nothing has changed?
  6. Gloooooossssssyyyyyyy! 😄 They are pretty shiny, even in scale. Think of a model car finish.
  7. My plan is to be cremated and then have my ashes put n the nozzle of an F-35 and be blown out over the ocean. Do you think the Navy would go for that? 😄
  8. I'm an elementary school teacher and we had a music teacher who recently retired. Less than a year into retirement, she had an aneurysm and died. With that said, statistically that probably won't happen, but there aren't any guarantees, so enjoy each day you have.
  9. Your comments aren't a damper. They are a reminder that each day is a gift that we've been given, even if it doesn't feel like it.
  10. Great post! And great to have you here with us. I'm one that never actually got out of modeling. I've been going straight through since I was 5 and I'm now 50. However, I've seen my modeling views change. In the middle, during adulthood, I pushed myself to build perfect, accurate models. I tried new techniques, I added every aftermarket part available, and I was known to buy a $20 decal sheet just for one small decal to make my project as accurate as possible. And then something happened about ten years ago. I was giving a seminar on US Navy ID markings at the IPMS Nats. I wanted to have 3D ex
  11. Thanks for the awesome responses. I enjoyed those. I'll just have to live with the fact that I'm not quite right. 😄
  12. I've noticed sometimes that when I'm browsing eBay and go to the next page, there items that come up for only a second or two, and then it goes to a new page and I can never find those items that I only had a brief glimpse of. It makes me think I'm missing out on something! 😄 Anyone know why that occurs, or how to correct it?
  13. I stood next to a B-36 wheel at the USAF museum when I was a kid. It was HUGE!!!!!!
  14. Great to know. I'm glad you stopped by. I'll be supporting you as much as I can.
  15. I forgot about the P-51H. I'm there with you on that one.
  16. I've thought the same thing as well. The easy part is getting the 3D printer. The hard part is learning a CAD program so you can actually create the part. That's what scares me. I have neither the time nor inclination to navigate that learning curve. If the programs are downloadable, that's another story. Then I would think a 3D printer might be worth the investment.
  17. Interesting topic. I vote for the F-22. All that power with short, stubby mains.
  18. No, he gets "credit" for it. 😄
