  1. More specifically Oahu, middle of January 1986. My grandparents took me to Hawaii my first time and while driving up the western shore to a beach with my uncle and cousins, we were overflown by a pair of OV-10s making rocket runs on a firing range (maybe Makua Valley). I'm thinking it was USAF OV-10As of the 22nd TASS because the memories jibe with gunship gray. and these photos look about right: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:OV-10A_22nd_TASS_taking_off_from_Wheeler_AFB_1984.JPEG https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:OV-10As_22nd_TASS_at_Wheeler_AFB_1984.JPEG
  2. In case you want to do an "F-16C/D International Vipers Part 2:" Source 1, 2.
  3. That scheme lives on https://www.dvidshub.net/news/423809/doors-off-guns-out-2-2-assault-helicopter-battalion-conducts-aerial-gunnery https://www.dvidshub.net/image/7290516/doors-off-guns-out-2-2-assault-helicopter-battalion-conducts-aerial-gunnery https://www.dvidshub.net/image/7523687/camp-humphreys-dmz-dustoff https://www.dvidshub.net/image/7523691/camp-humphreys-dmz-dustoff https://www.dvidshub.net/image/6446948/air-force-medics-conduct-medevac-training-with-army-aviation-battalion https://www.dvidshub.net/image/6446954/air-force-medics-conduct-medevac-training-w
  4. If you look closely you can see Val Kilmer scurrying underneath trying to reprogram the laser... 😁
  5. I believe this is actually a B-1A. /RivetCounter
  6. "US Navy fighter pilot, 1974-1981 era with APH-6E/MS22001 mask, sitting 7, visor down" ?
  7. That A-4M would look quite nice next to my Monogram OA-4M....
  8. Not really wanting to be thread police here, but the F-16 info should really be in its own thread if only so it's easier to find in the future (as opposed to being buried in a thread about exterior markings for potential decals sheets.
  9. Those markings already exists as in 1/48 Galaxy G48063 and Fab FA48071D.... and I feel like there's one more that I'm forgetting.
  10. I'm in - Al White was a (somewhat distant) relative of mine.
  11. FWIW, that's the same photo as the first link in Niels most recent post.
  12. I live near Joint Base Lewis McChord where a bunch of them are based. Very interested.
  13. I picked up the initial run of a FJ-3 to do a VF-61 Jolly Rogers bird... hopefully the re-run the kit and someone does decals some day so I don't have to raid other sheets to pull it off....
  14. OK, so it appears that everyone has a default that might be different, is consistent to them, and doesn't show up in settings as an editable option.
  15. Their site always defaults to the most expensive shipping. Just something you have to keep an eye out for and fix every time unless you REALLY want it fast. If you don't see a shipping option I'd refresh until you do.
  16. Add me to the list of interested parties if it helps sway opinion, although it sounds like there's a lot of subtraction over addition.
  17. If a military member develops it as part of their duties, then it is essentially owned by US citizens. That is why so much of the US-generated photography from WWII is in the public domain. It was paid for by the tax payers - they own it. When it is contracted out to private citizens of corporations, the rules change. One reason why we don't have really much in the way of decals with Disney characters.....
  18. Does it seem like there's a contour mismatch at the joint? It doesn't look like a smooth joint, more like a double bubble meeting up.
  19. Rock - initial post was two years ago. They're already shut down for what it is worth; this thread is now discussing what happened to their molds and the likelihood we'll see re-pops or some unfinished projects released by another company.
  20. I passed on this one due to the war.. now maybe I won't mind my OEZ boxing so much?
  21. ALL THE STRIPES!!! In looking it over (and I may be overthinking / overanalyzing), I think the decision was made to scale the stripes with the stars. If they roughly doubled the size of the stripes, the stars would look too small. It's personally a little too busy for me and I don't like designs that end abruptly at the radome, but it is certainly striking and I figured someone might be interested....
  22. Didn't see this F-15 mentioned - in case you consider another F-15C sheet: https://laststandonzombieisland.com/2022/11/08/the-most-patriotic-f-15-ever/
  23. It's a possibility. Their restoration of Memphis Belle suggests they have some pretty good references, considering that this slide show appears to show her being taken down to bare metal. I'll check with a research buddy who may have other good contacts there.
  24. Boeing has a good archives but it's run by one very busy employee (last I checked) who doesn't really have the time or inclination to talk to model builders. Additionally, they guard copyright ferociously so no one's going to just post photos from there as long as there is potential to make licensing dollars from it. Another possibility is spending some time on one of my research trips to the National Archives, but that time is precious and I already have a lot of topics slated for a number of books that I'd prefer not to take away from. I did leaf through Terry Moore's book collec
  25. I need to post this here before I forget yet again. The Memphis Belle movie isn't incredibly useful for interior detail, but the clearest copy and most useful is the one the US Library of Congress posted to youtube. There are a lot of less clear ones out there.
