  1. Interesting that the blackbird has shown up on a VFC-111 F-5.
  2. Any chance that there will be VF-61 Jolly Rogers bird on the FJ-3 sheet?
  3. Arclight requested on the above (spam) post! See. it's topical!
  4. I suspect people are going to need more photos and at different angles, etc., to givve you good feedback.
  5. Might have just been an oversight - mine was definitely now packed with retail intent in mind and it's very possible they just missed a box when assembling everything. Might be worth dropping them a line...
  6. Mine finally arrived on Friday, about a month after receiving the shipment notice. It was marked "small packet by air" and it did have the flaps .
  7. As of last night (Tuesday, five days after I received notice of shipment) the tracking number issued stated that my package had hit Beijing and was apparently waiting for the airplane there.
  8. FYI - just received notice that my B-52G replacement parts kit shipped. I ordered on January 8; fairly early on, and I'm not sure how big the list is or how fast it will take them to work through it, etc.
  9. I have not as of yesterday - I do note that the weapons set that was promised as a bonus for those of us who purchased the correction set is now for sale at my local hobby shop. So... maybe progress?
  10. In my experience they care, but not enough to make it a hill to die on. They grumble and grouse but the like eating and paying rent too and the publisher has more power in the relationship.
  11. You want a signed copy of a digital book? All kidding aside, you'd be better off contacting publishers as all of the authors I've worked with are prohibited from sending copy out for proofreading.
  12. I have a web site where I post historic US Military documents (99% US Navy) that I find and scan in at the National Archives. I scan and OCR the originals but then have to proofread the final result to take out as many errors as possible ("attack pianos" versus "attack planes"). Naturally, having to carefully read each document multiple times gives me a much better understanding and retention than those that just skim them. Likewise, some companies are having to re-think how they present information and make it accessible as younger generations are now assuming that if they can't f
  13. Who would have thought we'd live to see the day where we have to reboot our books! The future something amazing, isn't it?
  14. I somehow doubt it, but if it didn't there's a couple of different ways to do a stand or base that would help showcase the significance :D
  15. So, I might as well provide the reason for my question just so people aren't spending precious time on things that don't pertain (not a snark, just wanting to respect everyone's time). I'm thinking of trying to do the jet that made a somewhat infamous obscene contrail drawing last year. The report was recently released and thankfully redacted the aircrew's personal information, but did include the call sign used on a training mission over the continental US. No OpSec, some PerSec concerns, but really I just thought it would be a fun individual plane to model.
  16. In this case it would be more PERSEC than OPSEC, but it's a fair response.
  17. Paper. I work in technology and have no confidence that anything digital will be available within five years of acquisition. Major companies have outages and have lost files and data of their customers. "Digital Rights Management" is for the rights of the creator, not the buyer. Mostly you're buying a license to read and store locally on your reader a copy of a work that you do not actually own, even though you paid money for it. All of this stuff only works when the power grid does. As an amateur historian, I like my history to have a little more permanence. Short term storage con
  18. I presume the answer is "it varies" / "is not set" but just in case that's not the case, do the call signs that are currently used during missions correspond to aircraft in any way? I.e. if I wanted to build a model of "Zapper Two One" on a specific date, is there a way to determine the BuNo/squadron AC number, etc., from any source other than tracking down the air crew and having them look in their log book?
  19. The Museum of Flight in Seattle has a B-52G that I can probably get my camera close to on a monopod to get to the same height as the tanks and pylons. I'll try and shoot that tomorrow afternoon if it would be a help..
  20. That was kind of my point (no disrespect was meant). According to Scalemates the Airwaves set is almost 50 years old - and while I've seen older kits and sets be more accurate than some new tools, I trust Roy's work and would prefer his experience and resin over something that was a real early iteration of aftermarket. I'm all for competition and not having monopolies but it goes both ways and cheap, old re-pops hurt the chances for new releases at a higher cost.
  21. Question - why would we do this as opposed to having Barracuda also doing the tanks so we get the best of current technology from a good company and can "sole source" all the improvements from one vendor?
  22. Robert I hope you're not a doctor..... Look, if accuracy is a concern of yours then don't do pre-orders - wait until someone else has one and does a review. Caveat emptor. Companies can put out crap and survive because suckers support them. Hopefully both sides learn from this and they produce better product and we learn to wait a bit before parting with our money.
