The GWH kit was amazing I have been modelling for 20+ years and this company stands out too me on their value, quality, detail and extra details like the engines.

    The colors on the engine

    Base- Vallejo 77.724 aluminium

Shading- Alclad Jet exhaust, burnt carbon, hot metal blue

What color did you paint your cockpit? Ready to begin GWH MIG-29 with Quinta studio decals.  Your Fulcrum came out stunning!

I'll have to dig out my Dash-1 for the exact scheduling but IIRC parked/stopped position of LEF is 2 deg  up

Thanks gents, good information to know.  I'm going to wrap up the last attachment of parts this weekend and get some paint laid down...now to decide what I want to hang from her. Any suggestions? I know family model B's really didn't stand alert in ADF units tasked with NORAD duties.

:gr_eek2: Oh, slats down; nice! Is this build intended to be an in-flight one, B-ONE?

Always fancied building mine the same, with slats down, but I've never quite liked a wheels-up assembly.

Perhaps it might be done that way (slat/flap down and sitting on her legs) while going some maintenance?

Awesome work! You're slowly taming the beast.

    Cheers,

Thanks Gwen, yes I'm going wheels down but I guess I'll say the pilot was cycling his flight controls lol...figured I'd try some different pose for my build if the option is there.

  4. Couple of quick pics. Made some progress, almost ready for paint. Thanks all for the comments. The fit of the kit has been a challenge, main reason I'm building slowly. The intake sub assembly is set off to the side being held with CA and clamps...many gaps in fitting...hence it's not being attached in these photos. Hoping to attach this week coming up and possible paint barn.

  5. Small update, had some time to sit back down and get some work done. I will say though, this kit is fighting me... many fit woes. Was able to wrestle the IP down after a fight with CA, not perfect but will do for my palate. Weather starting to be nice out, so I'm anxious to finish up and get some paint down. Some perfect putty applied today. To be continued...

Started some work on the Kinetic F-16MLU and noticed that the IP doesn’t come up high enough to reach the underside of the shroud molded as part of the upper fuselage.  There is a noticeable gap between the top of the HUD up front controller on top of the IP, and underside of the HUD molded on the shroud.  There’s only one way it fits, so I don’t think there’s any interference or I’m assembling it wrong.  I think I could fix it by cutting off the small tabs of tge IP that stick out of the sides, but that seems to be part of the IP shape.  Anyone run into this with the Kinetic 1/48 kits?

Dave Wiiliams, I know what speak of, having same fit issues with my Kinetic F-16B, I think I'm going to remove the IP from pit tub and glue it directly to the shroud, hoping that works

  7. Time to have some fun! This will be a old school F-16B ADF, however I'm not sure yet what markings I want to dress her in of the set I have here. Tonight I will be doing some basic cutting and cleaning up, more to come! Leaning toward a PR ANG bird but the family model 191st bird looks hot too!

  8. Indeed, the lost of an true and dedicated example of perseverance and a steadfast spirit, despite confronting breakable hatred and unimaginable treatment, all in the name of serving his country.  I would like to build his RF-4C as a tribute. Anyone know of any 1/48 decals for the 16th TRS during the Vietnam conflict? Rest in paradise Sir!

OK I got a little excited by this project and started working on it so it may come sooner than expected 🙂 The set will cover only the aft part of the engine (the forward part is the same so the excellent kit parts can be used) and will most likely by in two parts: the exhausts themselves on the one hand, the external cover on the other hand to make painting easier.

That's just outstanding customer service! Thank you Sir, I can patiently wait but in the meantime I'll order a AH-64D/E kit to have on hand...oh and some caracal decals too!

Yeah, and this one is basically impossible to find 😞 I'd like to do one too, so I'm thinking about making the exhausts myself. Would anyone be interested in an official BAM models release?

Yes sir, Id absolutely be interested in a set of exhausts! As you mentioned finding that boxing of the Echo with upturned exhausts is like finding a unicorn.
