  1. Well I'm pretty happy with the new UK warehouse. Kinetic 1/48 Nesher shipped (with the Spring discount code) for £32. Hannants have it for sale at £65 + P&P... Jon
  2. I have two sets of 48-22 available in the UK, otherwise postage from US is $25! PM me if interested. Jon
  3. I don't know about that, but the videos I saw emphasised the production of the kit was in the UK (including moulding, boxes, packaging, etc.), but made no mention of the actual tooling. That element remains in Asia (India or China, I forget). The information was from Martin Ridge (Airfix Development Manager) and Chris Parker-Joy (designer of the 1/24 Spitfire). Jon
  4. That kit wasn't tooled in the UK. It was injected in the UK, as per recent Airfix interview on the Sprue Cutters Union podcast. Jon
  5. Well that's embarrassing for me! Thanks for the pointers - I've found them 🙂 Jon
  6. Can you post a link? I've looked at your site and can't find them... Jon
  7. This (and the lack of rivets) is precisely why I went for a non-AMK option and purchased a competing product. IMO, since the trio of MiG-31, Magister and Kfir kits, AMK have significantly dropped the ball in terms of moulding quality. I notice at least one builder of a pre-release of the AMK Mil Mi-8 on Facebook is having real issues with the kit. Jon
  8. Just finished the Tanmodel 1/48 RF-84F with Caracal Decals. Cheers Jon
  9. With the HK Models 1/48 B-25J now out and about, any plans to release this one soon? Thanks Jon
  10. Was the camouflage scheme on this webpage ever published? https://www.caracalmodels.com/references/cd48094/ Thanks Jon
  11. I too appreciate these efforts. Hannants had the Zvezda kit in stock last week. It sold out within a day. The biggest issue I have with the AMK kit is the lack of rivets and rough plastic, so I've bought one of the other options... Jon
  12. Thanks. And thanks for the excellent decals - I look forward to using those for the CH-53 later this year. Jon
  13. In 2023 I shall complete: Tan Model 1/48 RF-84F Thunderflash Hasegawa 1/48 Phantom FG.1 Academy 1/48 F-4B Phantom converted to an F-4G Tamiya 1/48 F-4B Phantom Eduard 1/48 Fw190A-5 as an SNCA NC900 Academy 1/48 CH-53E Super Stallion Jon
  14. Thanks for all the help with this one. I finished mine a couple of days ago. There's lots wrong with it (especially the over-drooped blades), but I'm pretty happy overall. I'll be using the same AOA set next year on the CH-53. The AOA decals were amazing; the Academy ones sadly not... Jon
  15. I have one of the sets, but I haven't used it so I can't comment on the quality of the decals. I also can't comment on accuracy, but they do include a photo or two of the actual machine. Jon
  16. Art Scale do quite a few sheets: https://www.hannants.co.uk/search/index.php?product_category_id=&product_division_id=&manufacturer_id=363071&code=&product_type_id=all_decals&scale_id=955&keyword_search=AH-1&setPerPage=25&currency_id= Jon
  17. The thread that just keeps giving. Thank you Jon
  18. These images are super-helpful (in addition to the fantastic walkaround from Dave Roof) - especially as the first one gives a slightly better view of the underside. Quick question: What is the cross section of the thing circled in red? Is it circular, oval, flat or something else? Thanks for the help - much appreciated. Jon
  19. Here's a quick and easy method I used last week: Clamp blade to steel rule using a clamp and magnets. Dunk in near-boiling water for 30-60 seconds. Result: This is for 1/48 CH-46 blades. Jon
  20. Dan, This is great - thank you for such a thorough reply. Does that mean the eroded leading edge should be a metallic colour (the nickel strip)? Cheers Jon
