  1. As I've been posting elsewhere on these forums, I'm making four Hasegawa 1/48 A-4 Skyhawks simultaneously and here is the second. This is their A-4L without any aftermarket and in the Cartograf-printed kit decals. Paint is mostly Mr Color. A full build article is at https://jonbryon.com/hasegawa-1-48-douglas-a-4l-skyhawk/ and there is some WIP at https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235065709-hasegawa-148-a-4ehl-and-ta-4j-skyhawks-update-19032020/ Comments welcome and thanks for looking. Jon
  2. Kitty Hawk 1/48 F-94C: GWH 1/48 T-33A: Tons more pictures of both at www.jonbryon.com Many thanks to Caracal...and can we have some FJ-4 decals in 1/48 please? 🙂 Jon
  3. I'm making four Hasegawa 1/48 Skyhawks concurrently (WIP thread is here) and this is the first to be finished. It's the Hasegawa 1/48 A-4E in aggressor markings from Fights On decals. The only major change I made to the kit was to fill in the leading edge slat bays so there is a smooth transition to the wing. There's no aftermarket other than the decals, and the paint is all Mr Color. A full write up can be found here. Comments welcome, and thanks for looking. Jon
  4. If you're going to build the ICM kit, there are some issues with how the front fuselage joins to the rear. I've tried to document some of my experience in building the kit here: https://jonbryon.com/icm-1-48-mikoyan-gurevich-mig-25pds-foxbat-e/ It is a really great kit though and if I had time, I'd be getting a recon version. Jon
  5. I made some comments on building it as a GR.1B here: https://jonbryon.com/tornadogr1b/ Jon
  6. There were substantial differences between early and late production Vigilantes. Is the decal sheet going to focus on one or the other or include both? Jon
  7. It was released in Dec 2019. I've had mine for a while. Jon
  8. Last one for 2019: Airfix's 1/48 Seafire F.XVII with markings from the kit. Only additions are an Eduard PE harness and Master gun barrels (I know, I know, wrong for shape for a Seafire...). Paint is MRP (top) and Mr Color (underneath). First attempt at hairspray chipping and first real attempt at using oils over a flattish clear coat. Full build article and more photos here: https://jonbryon.com/airfix-1-48-supermarine-seafire-f-xvii/ Comments welcome & thanks for looking. Jon
  9. I want this! Where can I get it! 🙂 Jon
  10. No. Because the UH-1N and UH-1D have different rotors. Jon
  11. Gunze GX113 thinned with Mr Rapid Thinner gives a very flat finish. Jon
  12. Thanks. The blades are moulded with an upward bent, and I am definitely not happy with them. Sadly I do not have the courage to try heating and bending... Cheers Jon
  13. Well here's a kit I've not seen finished very often: Sky Models' 1/48 Beech T-34C Turbo Mentor. It was produced in 1999 and they never made any decals for it. This is finished in a mix of Mr Color and Hataka laquers with (rather inaccurate) decals from the later Czech Model kit. It's all resin aside from the poorly made vacformed canopy. It's rather crude, and one of the most challenging paint schemes I've ever undertaken, and I've written an extensive build article here: https://jonbryon.com/sky-models-1-48-beechcraft-t-34c-turbo-mentor Any comments welcome Jon
  14. There are no real great options for these aircraft. I've built all three of them, and when I made my choices general consensus on the internet was that: Best MiG-15 is the Trumpeter kit (but there is an issue with the sweep angle of the vertical stab). Best MiG-17 is the Hobby Boss kit (but the radar-nosed version is less accurate) Best MiG-19 is the Trumpeter kit (because it's pretty much the only one out there. The radar-nosed version is less accurate) HTH Jon https://jonbryon.com/mig15uti-html/ https://jonbryon.com/mig17f
  15. Mr Color 365 is what Gunze reckon you should use. Jon
  16. Thanks guys. I am humbled by your comments. Jon
  17. Hello all, I posted this in Critique Corner, but thought it might be appreciated here too. I am very grateful for this forum and Jet Modelling; goldmines of useful information. Thanks to all of you with expertise that you are willing to share. This is my latest build: my second 1/48 AH-64D this year, this time as an Israeli AH-64D-I Saraf. The basic kit is Hasegawa and the conversion is from Wingman Models, including the decals. Gun, pitots and tail aerial are from Master. Paint is Hataka lacquer applied freehand. A full build article, describing how this all went toget
