Do you have a particular jet in mind? Because at some point during their ANG service, F-104B aircraft were retrofitted with the “later style” canopy, like that provided in the Kinetic kit. Hypersonic’s forthcoming conversion will include, among other things, an “early style” canopy.

Note the different styles on the SC ANG B models shown below (from Kinzey D&S book):

As a matter of fact I do have one in mind... a Tennessee ANG F-104B just like that one!!

Don't ask me how I know that!!!! It eats paint, especially acrylics and acrylic lacquers, so be careful and apply sparingly. But, it does work very good on most decals.

Yea me too! I ruined a fairly nice paint job on tamiya's new spitfire using it. It's like Alien's blood if you're not careful. It does work well on tamiya kit decals if you're careful with super thin applications. More worry than worth.

  3. Interestingly, I recently asked this very question to a guy in our group that used to be a SH back seater. He said the main difference is that the F does the FAC(A) mission. Other than that, he said they did the same mission sets, but that the E had more fuel and on-station time.

The shipment landed in US Last week and send to FedEx/UPS, now it should show you the FedEx/UPS tracking, if not please contact our customer services.

I have yet to receive anything, and just now got a shipping email from lucky models stating the container has shipped?

I bought one locally, then ordered two direct from Luckymodel in early December.  I have the same issue with the two I ordered direct.  They sent me a tracking number and then nothing.  I've asked them why it hasn't been picked up and the reply I get is they are short staffed.  I just got an update today saying that the kits are on the way in a container and I'll get the final tracking number once they ship from their US based warehouse.  Perhaps there's a similar thing happening in the EU?

Same here.  I ordered in December when they had the special shipping deal. Original invoice said air mail. A week later, I got my shipping invoice that stated surface, 2-6 mos. Feels a bit like a bait and switch, but it is what it is. nearly 4 months and still states it's waiting for pickup in china.

    Hi,

My take on the trunnion covers (the covers over the MLG struts) is that all F-4B's were delivered without them and all F-4J's were built with them.

The first flight of the F-4J was on the 27th of May 1966, so the covers would have been designed a bit before that.

I think that once they had been designed no time was wasted in installing them on the F-4B's. They were after all a solution to a problem: the violence of deck landings was creating cracks in the upper wing surface above the struts.

When I get around to building my VF-84 F-4B from the 1965 cruise, I'm not going to install the trunnion covers on the wings. If I'd build a 1967 F-4B, I would install them.

    Cheers, Stefan.

    Stefan,

That's great info, thank you . I'm building an Academy B as a Marine aircraft from '66, so I it seems like it would not have any of these updates (antennas or gear covers). I have some Hypersonic mk5 early seats as well.

My tamiya will be a later B from '68 so would have all of these.
