  1. Here is how I fixed that warp. Here are the tools. X-acto knife, BAF (Big A*s File), Embossing Heat Gun and Tape. Tape the tail and the nose down as they have a lot of support and weren't the problem with the warp. The thin area for the cockpit was the problem. Using the embossing gun move the heat around the thin spot. Be careful and don't melt the resin but the heat makes it more pliable than hot water. Once it is warm just let it sit on the bench and cool. The resin has the memory from the molds and it wants to sit correctly. A little Tamiya tape to hold everything together a
  2. I've been busy with some family issues so it sits on the workbench in the same state. I hope to get some work on it this weekend. Floyd
  3. Like I said it will be in the new DVD on photo etch and you will see it isn't as hard as it looks. It is more about tools and patience. Floyd
  4. This is so nice and looks great. Like you said, this looks some much better than thick plastic. Floyd
  5. No way, this is THE best Avia on the market. The warp should be relatively easy to get rid of. Kiwi Resin is some great stuff and very accurate. Floyd
  6. Here is the Radu Bf-109G canopy that is just the first of many changes to the 1/32nd scale kit. The procedures for folding this should be included in the next Master Class Model Building Video which we are filming right now. Funny that it should contain how to work with Photo etch, resin, and vacuform canopies. Makes this group build subject easy.
  7. Here is the starting point for my Kiwi Resin S-199. I have to get rid of a slight warp in the fuselage halves. This is a little more than hot water will be able to handle. It is time for the embossing tool from my wife's stamping up stuff. Floyd
  8. contact Meteor directly and talk to them. I've been assured that it is still in production. Let me know what they say. Floyd
  9. I hope so too. There is no good book on the Apache. I think it helped that I had my friend who sets up magazines and manipulates photos for a living size, correct and convert them before I sent them. That is the only reason this one came out before yours. That made it a simple plug and play for them. Floyd
  10. Thanks Dave, I'm glad you liked it. Hopefully they will ask for another sometime in the future. Maybe an "in action". LOL Floyd
  11. YAHOOOO! Today is the official release date of the Kiowa Warrior Walk Around. I have my copies in my hand. Looks very nice to me. It is exactly what I had in my mind's eye. I hope you all like it. Let me know what you think. Good, bad, would have liked to seen and anything else you think I should know. Constructive criticism is always appreciated. I'm sure some of you will not like that there are no line drawings in it. I did that on purpose because I felt that those line drawings are taken as accurate and they are not they are normally representative. Floyd
  12. I hope to get my copies of the book tomorrow in the mail. So it shouldn't be long. I'm really excited. It is like Christmas all over again. I hope you all like it. Floyd
  13. Hey I heard about this set of DVDs that helps with building the 1/32nd Hasegawa/Revell Bf-109G. Someone even told me that you can use these techniques on any model. I guess they are pretty good. Just thought I would mention them. Check out www.masterclassmodels.com Floyd
  14. You can preorder it now from Squadron. Catalog Number SS5550 on sale this month's flyer. Floyd
  15. Thanks Dave, Maybe if you check with Joseph at Fireball Modelworks he may have some SFOR markings and stuff still on his computer that he did for me. Floyd
  16. My OH-58D book should be available within the next week or two. Joseph, thanks. It took a long time to get them to approve it. I proposed the original one in 1998, but I think the book is pretty nice. I hope to see more models of the Warrior. Floyd Sneek peek
  17. I don't have a 1/35th TOW set in mind but I think Joseph at Fireball Modelworks does. I finished up the antennas so now it is just waiting on the IPS. Floyd
  18. Alby, which version of the kit is your model from? I have the 1/50th Heller (I think) one and it has the driveshaft cover. I would much rather have one with the driveshaft exposed. Floyd
  19. In a word, no. I still have to get the IPS done and some minor antennas to make. Then I will drop it off to Chris. I fixed up some minor blemishes and reprimed today so the major items are ready to go. Floyd
  20. Yes the Cobra Company has indicated that they would sell them separately. Floyd
  21. I'm doing this for myself and Chief Snake is going to cast it. It will be avialable from Cobra Company but will not be advertised on the website. You have to go to him directly and ask for it. No idea on costs yet. I still have some work to do. I meant to take photos of the model with all the added parts but in my haste to see how it looked I forgot to take naked photos. So here are the photos after the primer has been applied. I'll look them over tomorrow to see what needs to be repaired, but it looked pretty good so far. Showing the new tail boom panels along with the scribed panel li
  22. Erick, I can do the OH-58D Walk Around with photos that I didn't use in the book. I have plenty to make it worth while for the Warrior Walk Around. The photos for the book are so big, and now copyrighted, that they take up a DVD. The book should be available within the next couple of weeks. I also have a lot of AH-1 photos for a Walk Around on them too. Floyd
  23. Sign me up for a 1/48th scale Kiwi Resin S-199. I'm sure there will be at least one more. LOL Also I'll be doing a 1/32nd Bf-109G-4 or G-2 with a bunch of resin stuff. Floyd
  24. Still debating the merits of the AH-1F conversion in 1/32nd. Cobrahistorian (Jon) has one in progress that looks pretty darn nice, but I may have to do one for the masses. It would be expensive though and a lot of work. I may work with Joseph from Fireball Modelworks and use some of his parts that will make the work load less, but the cost will still be high and not for everybody. When I get done with the 1/48th scale AH-1F update/upgrade set I am thinking of doing the deployment gear for the MRC 1/35th OH-58D to tie into the release of my Kiowa Warrior Walk Around from Squadron. I'll inc
