  1. Mark, Here are some of my choices for both 1/48th and 1/72nd, but I am very biased. LOL How about a sheet on the aircraft that Floyd Werner flew? LOL Floyd I can provide any information you need for this one as I flew it in Desert Storm. I flew this one in Bosnia in 1995/96 And for something else I have all the photo walk around for these markings Then of course there are these markings
  2. I'll be building one of these and probably at least one other project. Floyd
  3. Fine, I'm in for $50 but I don't even like Apaches. Hell I had to modify my behaviour so I could like Jon, an Apache pilot. Sheesh, what's next? LOL Happy New Year. AH-1F is coming along. Almost done. Floyd
  4. Yes I"m the bald guy in the photo. LOL OK so we are all bald. I am the one on the left in the photo. Floyd
  5. I'd say that would be appropriate. The sheen was largely dependant on the crew chief and the amount of time the helicopter flew. The crew chief would wax it just like WWII ones just to get a couple of more knots of airspeed out of the helicopter. The Cobra was the first helicopter where this might actually make a difference. Merry Christmas Floyd
  6. Your welcome. Thought you might like them. While I have your ear, I've seen some pics of both AH-1s and OH-58s in a darker OD finish towards the end of the Viet Nam War (almost like CARC Green Drab though not as dark, but definately darker than regular OD green). I'm thinking that Model Master FS34086 Green Drab would match that color, what do you think? I talked to the guy who gave me the Cobra photos from the D/29th and he said they just started arriving in a darker color, but the paint order did not change. Your guess is as good as the next guys. It might match the Green Drab, but lo
  7. Alby, The Kiowa frequently, more often than not, did not have a drive shaft cover in Vietnam. It tended to suck up debris and mess up the hangar bearings, especially the last one. See the photos below. Floyd
  8. It is allowed if it is less than 20% completed. Mikester correct me if I'm wrong. Floyd
  9. Budget cuts. It is happening all over the old Eastern Block countries. Floyd
  10. You have no idea how hard it was not to include this picture in the new Warrior Walkaround book. LOL What I do the other time when not flying four hours a day is check the modeling websites and surfing *********. That is in between eating and helping maintenance with runups and contacting Eurocopter. Oh don't forget the Class I downloads, always a highlight of any day. Then there is interviewing new pilots. Surf more *********. Then there are the other paperwork duties that have to be done to generate the data to justify our existence. Occassionally I'll find time to use the gym at wor
  11. Your welcome. The weight bag is just two pieces of Tamiya masking tape. Floyd
  12. Yes. ALL versions of the 109 are eligible from the V-1 to the Hispanos. Also no Spitfires with a 109 nose (it is actually a Bf-110 nose). Remember the group build starts in JANUARY not now. Sign up, photograph the build, and keep us abreast of it and finally post it when you are done to be eligible for any prizes. Floyd
  13. I used DENTAL FLOSS on mine. Paint it with paint or with a red sharpie but be careful it takes time to dry. Make the hook out of wire.and thread the dental floss through it. My model is 1/35th but you can cut the dental floss as necessary. Floyd
  14. Weight savings, plus cool guys don't need hair. LOL
  15. That is an Apache in its natural environment, broken and on the ground. LOL ;)
  16. I want one of these really bad. This will cure the drug corner problem quick. Floyd
  17. The one I wouldn't mind the BPD getting. I can't convince the LT that we need one of these though Floyd
  18. I'm in for a grand and I'll even fix it for free (I'm an A&P) and I'll fly it too. It is the least I can do. If we can't afford this one maybe this one with a cool paint scheme: http://www.provenancefightersales.com/cobra_N2734D.htm I'll pitch in the same deal on that one too. Floyd
  19. No data plate on the panel, unfortunately. Floyd
  20. I just came into possession of a TH-1L instrument panel and want to fill it. I'm looking for photos of one in operational use with the Navy. Of course, if anyone has instruments they want to part with I will take them. Thanks and any help would be appreciated. Floyd
  21. Thanks Alby, I'm humbled. Beautiful work, glad I could help. Loved that model when you built it and I love it even more now. I will have to try the 1/72nd one someday soon. I'm working on my 1/48th one now. Progress has slowed due to the holidays and filming the next DVD but things are progressing well. I hope to have it done by Jan. I'm pretty excited about it right now. Just got the tail boom panels mounted and they look great. Only one more panel to add and then I have to rivet the entire airframe. That will take a little bit of time, but when it is done it will be as close to a
