If I remember correctly, and its been a few years since I was in a KC-10, when the boom is in the stowed position, the boom pod window closes and you cant see out, but when it lowers or is activated the cover slides out of the way like you said.

Why is it so hard to find a 1/48 SH-60 kit? Its like the work horse for the Navy right now and there isnt one to be found.

Their Spitfire's and Tempest kits and they are really, really nice also. I've got 5 of their MiG-21s also in the really, really nice category. I also have one of the Overtrees of the Hasegawa/Eduard F-8E, wish I could find more.
