  1. Hi Wayne, I need to make a replica of a particular car, have plenty of reference photos but it is a stock V6 convertible, identical to the one in the link save for tan interior rather than black. So I need the stock wheels and the front bumper, (dunno about the rear one) instead of the GT one in both kits (snap & regular). Looks like I'll have to scratch both. The Shelby bumper is closer but too large.
  2. From the Revell 1/25 2010 Mustang? I'm not too worried about the engine bay but is there any conversion available for the front bumper/grille and wheels? Any other notable differences? I'm trying to build this car.. http://www.everycarlisted.com/fl/orlando/ford/mustang/vin-1zvbp8en3a5172189 I have a couple of the Revell snap convetibles on the way and a pair of the regular 2010 hardtop kits and will mix'n'match to get a detailed convertible. Is there any source of the wheels on a diecast for example? TIA, Roy
  3. Hi John, The Arii Midway while stated as 1/800 actually works out at very close to 1/730 so fits in lovely with the Italeri and Revell carriers. Nice build here; http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=18158 Scroll down about 2/3rds on the first page. Then a few pages after shows a conversion of Midway kit to Coral Sea. Much, much, much later is one to FDR. Big long thread there... HTH Roy

  5. And second time around, after only 5 bids, it went for....... Drum roll..... US $719.25 What are these people on?
  6. Well, (unsurprisingly) it's been relisted. Just to be clear, I never called into question the sellers ethics. I've seen them on ebay for a long time, and I think I may have even bought from them in the distant past. What gets me though is not just the strange bidding of the newbie (Bid on 185 listings with no feedback) but that two other experienced ebayers were willing to pay $605 and $653.99 respectively. Why don't my auctions go like that?
  7. Matchbox Flower-class Corvette. http://www.ebay.ie/itm/380362177916?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 A great kit, no doubt, but I bought mine on ebay a couple of years ago for €25 including post. Admittedly, it was a Revell Germany re-issue, don't know how much the original Matchbox packaging adds to the price. But this is just pure dumb..... And looking at the bid history makes it even weirder....
  8. Interesting. Guess there's no money in casinos these days. http://www.china.org.cn/china/2011-08/10/content_23176582.htm Now, what do I need to do to convert my Italeri Kuznetsov kit into this?!!
  9. Looking for the following, DECALS; Partial sheet of Wolfpack Decals 72-003 (Getting desperate!) I'm just after the B-52 bit, but willing to purchase the full sheet if needed. Have loads to trade, if preferred. It's from this sheet; http://www.modelingmadness.com/scotts/decals/wp/wp72003.htm Now also looking for the AV-8A VMA-231 USS FDR option from Wolfpack thanks 2010 sheet. If you have any spare decals for the old Monogram F7F Tigercat and F8F Bearcat, got 2 original issue kits, but the decals are shot in both. Anything usable considered. KIT BITS! Emhar 1/72 F3H Demon windscreen.
  10. So I took file in hand, took a deep breath and filed away as much as I dared to get a straight line on order to fit a 1mm shim cut from a sheet of plastic card. Some cursing and filling later, here's the result. Almost ready for primer. More later.. hopefully!
  11. The ET and SRBs. I did get the skirts together with some imaginative clamping, and lots of filler. And the payload bay doors. Here is where the bad moulding I spoke about earlier was the most noticeable.
  12. Crowe-t; thanks for the SRB pics, just what I needed! Bill, your stack is awesome. Don't think mine will look as good somehow. Question for all, are those black stripes supposed to be on the raised ridges of the SRBs, or just under them? Some pics as promised.... The underfuse seams. I did glue the wings to the fuse halves first, then glued the fuse halves together. This kept the gaps at the bottom. I did also manage to get a strip of plastic to cover the inside of the bottom fuse seam, and also put in the payload bay piece for added strength before I glued on the payload bay doors.
  13. Thanks Pete, Never saw the first even though I did a search. The other is mind blowing though. Don't think I have the talent or the time to pull something like that off...
  14. Just picked this one up as well (RoG issue), superb decals as per the 1/144 kit. Any how-tos, what-nots etc. on this one? I gather that the sit when sitting on gear is wrong, amongst other things, any advice on fixes? Cheers, Roy
  15. Thanks, I'll post some pics when I can. an anyone confirm that the outside of the SRB nozzles (the rocket nozzle itself, not the SRB skirts) are painted gloss white? (Revell parts 8). Inside I presume a weathered black?) Still on the SRBs, I know the inside of the skirt should have that foam tan colour, but does this extend to the nozzle housings (part no 7) or are they white or another colour? RoG say metallic steel for both. Cheers, Roy.
  16. Thanks, got the ET and SRBs together, filled, sanded, primed, filled and sanded ready for primer/undercoat. Orbiter main parts are together, filled and sanded. Trying to figure out how to get the payload bay doors on. Fit is ok at the top (edges are actually straight) and the positioning of the doors themselves are in line with the rest of the orbiter. But I have an almost 1mm gap along the bottom of the door on one side and 3/4 to 1/2 mm gap on the other. While the orbiter side of the joint is a straight line, the corresponding door side is not. A wavy line that would not look out of place
  17. Hi Guys. Great work being shown here. I don't wish to hijack the thread, but I've got a few q's for you all...... I've just yesterday started the Revell Germany 1/144 full stack and MLP kit. Having been lucky enough to be standing on Cocoa beach when Endeavour blasted off on STS-134 (and have the T-shirt to prove it) I'm eager to get this one done as she was that day. I am planning to do as much as I can OOB, and concentrate on getting the markings/paint as close as I can rather than significant scratching/modifications. Most people who will see it won't even know there is more than one orb
  18. Bump-tickety-bump! Heading off next Saturday. Looking forward to it. Thanks to all the advice here, we made a plan. 5 days in Disney resort, and 8 on I-drive. Will do the disney thing first and then when we hit the I-drive, do Universal, SeaWorld and KSC (I might wrangle 2 days there.. looks like STS-134 will still be there when we are!!!) and what days we have left will be spent on the beach, by the pools and shopping. Maybe take a spin to Busch Gardens. Most importantly of all, is there any good hobby shops there? ;-) Cheers, Roy
  19. Thanks so far all. What we are looking for is as follows Me; Sun, sand, heat, Kennedy Space Centre, sun, days out in fantasyland, sun, sand, Everglades, some shopping, sun and sun. OH; Sun, sand, shopping, sun, Everglades, shopping, sand, shopping, days out in fantasyland, sun, shopping, sand, Kennedy Space Centre, sun, shopping and sun. Son; Disney, food, universal, disney, Space Centre, disney, universal, swimming in warm water. (This is for Jennings....) Been to EuroDisney myself many years ago, so have an idea what to expect. Also spent a few months in West Virginia about 6 years
  20. Hi all, Planning on going to the big mouse town for a family once-a-lifetime type of holiday this May. Just looking for some advice from those who have been there. We (myself, SWMBO and our 8 year old son) plan to do the Disney parks, Universal, and day trips to Sea World, Kennedy Space Centre and a full day trip to the everglades. Just wondering, would it be better to stay in one of the Disney resort hotels, or one of the non-affiliated (and significantly cheaper) hotels and just buy the tickets for the parks? We plan on doing a day at a park, followed by a day of rest, followed by another
  21. Bump! and edited, also looking for the AV-8A VMA-231 USS FDR option from Wolfpack thanks 2010 sheet! By the way, TT I haven't forgotten about your decals either!
  22. Well, I'm in! Probably too late, but will enjoy the ride as usual!
  23. A-380. Only thing big enough for the sack. Or How about that Dornier VTOL transport, the Do. 31? Wacky enough for ya?
  24. Funny, I just did a count myself this weekend. So far, it stands at about 325. I was shocked. I figured about 180-200 at most. Mostly aircraft, but broken down as follows; 1/72 258 aircraft, of which 4 are vacforms, and 67 are the Matchbox collection (glad to see I'm not alone here, I think...) At least 19 are for the Irish Air Corps collection and most of the rest are post-war, jets props and helos. 1/700-1/720 ships, 31, of which 18 are aircraft carriers and all are post war. 1/144 8 1/48 aircraft 9, all post-war/modern jets. 1/24-1/25 cars, 6 1/72 boats/ships 3 1/350 scal
